  1. Not being a wise guy or anything but my favorite lure is the one that they are hitting on at the time! Ok, if I had my way it would be either a jig or any topwater!
  2. Many more to come. I've posted these in the outing thread, but I've decided they belong here with the smallmouth fans. Think I'll just keep putting my smallmouth pictures here for the rest of the season, unless it will bog the thread down?
  3. Because I like variety, I've hit the smallies pretty good this season too so far. Honestly though in my part of Maine I think the largemouth fishing is better than the smallmouth as far as numbers and size. I have to travel about an hour minimum in any direction to get to great smallmouth water and only about 20 minutes to find great largemouth fishing! I prefer smallmouths but at the same time the largies are unique, they are the new kid on the block. Also in this lake the smallies don't get big for some reason even before the largies were there. I only catch a couple 3lbs plus smallies here a year, and the largies seem to be doing much better in this watershed. Don't worry Roadwarrior my next few trips will be to some awesome smally water so I will try and please your eyes with some nice tiger striped small jaws!
  4. They are like a wet noodle now after 2 days of 40 + fish, check out my "Hammered them again" post!
  5. Yep, you are correct the water is very dark, and yet it is pretty darn clear.
  6. Great job, nice looking bass!
  7. Wow, very nice!
  8. My Uncle and I went back up today and nailed them again. This time between the two of us we caught 46 bass. I had a 5 fish total of 16lbs 02oz yesterday and we beat that by 9oz today with a 5 fish bag limit of 16lbs 11oz. My Uncle caught another 4lbs 03oz largemouth and took my dollar for big fish. My biggest today was 3lbs 14oz., almost four pounds. The bass we have been catching are all slack and look like they needed a good meal, I think they were all males. Usually they are fat pigs this time of year. We caught them on wacky worms, jigs, and cranks today. Here are a few of them: My Uncle's 4lbs 03oz. bass, Once again slack, he should have been closer to 5 pounds again Old men and cameras don't go together My 3lbs 14oz bass, look how slack he is!
  9. One of these days, one these days, I'm going to head to Florida!
  10. Wicked man just wicked! She must have pulled that raft around, nice natural trolling motor! ;D
  11. You suck ;D great looking bass O. I really like those lobster baits, nice big meaty profile that the bass around here just love. I've been eying those rage rooster contraptions, are they any good?
  12. Awesome bass man, Ok I'll admit that is the one bit of jealousy I have with the south and that is the double digit bass. To me 4 to 5 pound bass are huge, but I'll never see a double digit up here. I think our state record is like only 11lbs 10oz. so if I do get a double digit it maybe the new state record. I'll be happy when I finally break 6lbs, 5lbs 14oz is the closet I've come so far.
  13. very nice!! Some of my better days have been in some of the worst weather conditions. Usually I have to go solo on those days!
  14. You are right Big O, the water is very dark but yet it is very clear.
  15. Thats a biggun, My biggest pickeral is 4lbs 06oz..
  16. Feels good don't it?
  17. Well I went fishing alone today and had a great day. I didn't catch a lot of hawgs but I caught numbers. The number one baits today were a 3/8oz. Texas rigged Rage Lobster in June bug color and a 3/8 oz. green jig with an Okeechobee colored rage craw trailer. The water temp was 56 degrees and the largies were hungry. I caught them in tight to the cover. I caught 2 smallmouths and 39 largemouth for a total of 41 bass. I caught a lot in the two pound range. My two largest bass were 4lbs 03oz. and 3lbs 09oz. I caught all these bass and my 5 fish total was only 16lbs 02oz., but it was fun and they had a lot of fight in them. They felt bigger than they really were. I didn't take a whole lot of pictures because it is a pain in the butt to take pictures of one's self. I will be going back tomorrow with my Uncle. Boy these fish look smaller than they were! : 4lbs 03oz. same one 3lbs 09oz.
  18. Looks like you had a great trip, nice looking bass!
  19. Nice job, but remember you might want to let a few of the small ones go to so you can get big ones to! There nothing wrong with keeping a few though, good job.
  20. Nice looking bass and cool pictures! You guys get to see alligators and I get to see Moose.
  21. Odds and ends, a couple of other bass. Looks like my friend is not going to send the other half of the pictures, he's lazy! 2lbs 02oz. largemouth from a different lake. 3lbs 14oz. smallmouth. They caught a lot more bass then this, but you have to twist their arms to get them to pick up the camera and take a few pictures! This is the day that they caught 33 bass. >
  22. Thanks guys, I had more pictures to post but my friend is a little slow at sending them to me. I had to work today but my Father and my Great Uncle went back today and nailed them again on the crank. Their five fish total was only 16lbs 11oz today, but they caught 33 smallies and the biggest was 3lbs 14oz. They said they had a few chasers that looked to be over 4lbs, but you don't know until you weigh them!
  23. It was my best friend's birthday yesterday on April 1st, so I decided to take him fishing as a gift. Well he had birthday boy luck and ended up kicking my butt. We both had a great day. We caught 28 smallmouth, (he had 17 and I had 11), and only one was under 2lbs and 9 of them were 3lbs 5oz. to 3lbs 10oz. All the other were between 2lbs 6oz and 2lbs 15ozs. Our 5 fish total was 17lbs 9oz., I'll take that in a tournament any day! We caught them on everything: spinner baits, tubes, grubs, drop shotting and suspended jerk baits. Now the number one lure for the day, the one that caught the most and biggest smallies was something that I hardly use. It was a Kevin Vandam strike king 6-9 foot crank bait. I've never had luck with these until yesterday, all we would do is cast them out in 8-9 foot of water and slowly crank them in. You would feel it bouncing off the boulders and then slam they would nail it. At the end of the day I had two bass on at the same time on one crank bait. The larger of the two fell off at the boat, of course! The one that I caught weighed in at 3lbs 6oz., and the one that fell off was noticeably larger! My friend has more pictures on his camera. I will post them here when he sends them to me. The one that didn't fall off! The birthday boy! The only one under 2 pounds and I caught him of course, but he was my first spinner bass this early!
  24. Thanks, I got to work the next two days but I get to go again the 31st and 1st of April. Planning on fishing two different lakes. One has a mixed bag of largies and smallies and this one again where there are only smallies. I'm trying to break the five pound mark on smallies at this lake, I know they are there and maybe a few six pounders. I've caught a lot of upper fours here
  25. Great looking bass, good job! Call me crazy but I kind of like this early season cold weather fishing. The fish are so clean and healthy looking.
