  1. I fish grass a lot so I use a yo-yo technique mainly...just a matter if it is fast or slow I guess would be my variable. If I swim it, i let it sink into the weeds a bit then lift it free...so thats a yo-yo variation haha. If I drag it I get it all stuck in the weeds.
  2. jig
  3. try throwing your jig on braid if you got grass around to help with the feeling. Sometimes you just feel the "tick" as the bass inhales it. If you feel anything "unnatural" set the hook
  4. I would put them on a texas rig and flip thru pads/grass/cane use as heavy a weight that is needed to get it thru straight shank hook braid
  5. x2 There are some good ideas here
  6. I would recommend DVT as well. (Deep Vein Thrombosis haha)
  7. Any reaction bait (spinnerbait, chatterbait, swim jig, cranks, etc) Rick Clunn uses glass for all his reaction baits I think
  8. KVD said the pros will put up with the break offs with the FC b/c of the other positives FC has. He acknowledges that FC just breaks sometimes haha I believe the san diego jam knot has allowed me not too hate FC hahaha
  9. more hunting or suicide
  10. I'd hit a totally different part of the lake...even better a new lake. My home lake, I just switch from largies to smallies and if that fails I switch to whisky
  11. hmmm I think I generally stick around too long. I just try to keep moving along whatever I wanted to fish...if it was a row of cane I'll flip the whole thing but move along it quick. When I hit the end of what I wanted to fish I move on. Or if its a set of pads, I'll cover it from left to right then move on. I guess if I'm hitting a pocket that I'm fan casting to...maybe 15-20 minutes?
  12. I really like the snell knot for my flipping, but I use it with braid I use san diego jam knot for FC...just find it is stronger. I have trouble with my snell slipping with FC but I know there are variations of the snell knot that are prob better
  13. 1. Senkos, worm 2. spinnerbait, buzzbait, chatterbait, everything else
  14. I fish grass so I go 65# braid But I do switch to 20# FC when the grass hasn't grown up or died off. 20# should work for ya and not be too heavy
  15. Vicious Pro Elite is good stuff. Seguar Abrazx I heard was good and maybe worth a try I've used Maxima Flouro, it is super strong but a bit wiry YoZuri is great and for the price hard to beat (as it was mentioned above, not a true FC)
  16. Senko Spinnerbait Frog Jig
  17. When fishing for largies (in my parts its all grass) I just go straight braid. When I back outta those back bays I fish clear water for smallies I add a leader to my braid. Doesn't spook the bass at all. I use 15# braid, 10# P-Line Floroclear, alberto knot or modified albright or whatever it is called.
  18. Try a little of both until you start getting bit Try a chatterbait to
  19. I pretended my lake was a grass lake b/c thats what it is in my zone. Interesting to hear some of your guys approaches to various styles of lakes
  20. Cool idea for a post. This is a great way to learn. I'd fish early in the morning looking for a mid depth bite (say 5-8') throwing moving reaction baits (swim jig, crank, chatterbait, spinnerbait depending on the water visibility/chop). With the sun coming up over head I would try fishing in the shallows flipping/pitching cover (cain, mats, pads) b/c the water temp in the shallows would be warming up the fastest...(say between 70 and 75). I'd hit this especially if the wind was blowing into the shallow pocket. If no bites, I'd be moving back deep. With the temps returning back to 80, I'd be backing off the shallows looking deeper weeds for typical summer pattern bites. Deeper cranks, big worms, jig (say 12-18') In the evening I'd move back into the mid depth and shallow cover looking for the bass that are actively feeding in the shallows.
  21. good vid!
  22. Yep it works! But weightless is tough b/c the worm is so light compared to a senko it is tough to control on the cast. I usually T-Rig the finesse worm with a bellyweighted hook if I want that wacky rig style fall as opposed to nose weighting it
  23. For me it is my jig rod. I forget to put it down sometimes hahaha
