  1. morning and evenings in the shallower weeds/pads/cane can pick you up some mid size fish
  2. great fish!
  3. I just use as little brakes as possible to stop birdsnests if I'm birdnesting at the beginning of my cast I'll add one brake distance comes second for me
  4. watch the vids, read the articles, keep fishing it. If there is a bass around that jig, it'll catch it.
  5. I don't add scent to much anymore but if the plastic has some built in scent I won't complain!
  6. same with me haha
  7. This year: 8" Lizard, 1/8oz weight, 12# yo-zuri, MH Baitcasting gear (my worm setup)
  8. x2 works for braid, mono, FC
  9. I stick to 15# mono for spinnerbaits I fish it for smallies and largies. I like the shock absorption on mono (the rare time I like the stretch)
  10. another good one!
  11. I know Elmvale, I went thru there all the time to and from penetang. Ill be fishing Simcoe, cook's bay this coming Tuesday after the long weekend. I hope you left me some fish! Fishing honey harbor this weekend. Great fish and I hope the move goes smooth!
  12. x4 on the sharpie when my braid is green, I use the sharpie in intervals up the line....it breaks up the color so there isn't a solid green or black color, it blends really nicely into the weeds/shadows. with white braid....get a green sharpie I think would work best. Turn it all green.
  13. I use 15# big game for my spinnerbait/chatterbait/buzzbait rod I know braid seems expensive but it lasts a long time on your reel. I back my reels with cheap mono and put on about 30 yards of braid on my pitching stick. That lasts all year. The next year I take it off by laying the 30 yards out in my lawn and putting it on backwards. I've had a box of power pro for 4 years now haha. Just to give you options.
  14. check online there are a few major online tackle shops with them
  15. x2 but i have switched to san diego jam for fc more recently and love it
  16. congrats!
  17. nice fish!
  18. Nice! Good way to spend a day with family!
  19. thats a pretty fish!
  20. thats a great catch. that's also a great little pond. It'd be fun to put a small tin boat in with a trolling motor and zip around catching fish like that!
  21. You can't go wrong with Junebug in any clarity of water with grass
  22. Hey guys thought I'd share b/c I always enjoy reading your reports. Season finally opened. I was out on a sunny day. Fishing bays, towards the back end (shallow end). Water was crystal clear. Water temp was 67-70. After a couple smaller guys (2-3lbers) in the pads I backed off and caught a couple 5 lbers (big fish up north!) off a submerged rockpile in 6' water and a stand alone log in 6' water before 9:30am. Caught a few more 2-3 lbers in different sets of pads bringing me to lunch. Wind picked up in the afternoon and started blowing onto one side of the bank laced with pads, I fished along that bank and picked a 5 lber off a laydown with pads around it and a bit deeper water pocket. I picked up a 4.5 lber from about 6" of water in the pads. Everyone of the big fish came from the same rig: 7'0" MH Daiwa Procyon, Shimano Citica, 12# Yo-Zuri Hybrid, 1/8oz sinker, owner off-set worm hook, 8" lizard and one fish on a zoom speed worm. The rest of the fish came from a typical frog/braid set-up. One or 2 little guys on a crank bait set up. Nothing on my jig rod (I didn't fish it much as the super clear water forced me to downsize to the worm/lizard setup described above). I wanted to comment on the fact that everyone talks about yo-zuri being a great line on baitcasting gear. I must admit I was extremely happy with it compared to all other mono/FC lines. For the price I can forget about expensive FC lines and it responded so much better in sensitivity and stretch (lack there of) compared to mono. Casts great. I tend to hammer my hooksets on a fairly stiff MH rod and I had 0 breakoffs or knot failures with 12# (san diego jam) where I manage to break 17-20# FC. Best of luck out there guys! (all fish caught and released)
  23. I flip a 6" lizard in pads and cane (I switch to smaller craws when punching) I fish an 8" lizard like I do a worm. Depending on the profile I want I'll alternate between worm/lizard I've caught some good ones off a lizard
