  1. I bought these damned trailer hooks for my spinnerbaits. Looked awesome until they showed me how dumb I might be. its a hook with a large eye, comes with surgical tubing that is too big to stay on the main hook. The website shows it covering the eye of the trailer hook while on the shank, thats great but won't hold if you look at it the wrong way, then it slides of the eye and down the trailer's shank. I ended up just cutting the tubing and spiking it thru the main hook. I don't like how its bulky and not clean cut.... Anyone know better?
  2. Like the gentlemen above, I agree with them. But so I don't just repeat them I'll add something... If you are looking for a starter rod, a spinning reel on a 6'6 med-heavy rod can do most of the basics for you, and I find most people can learn that reel faster then a baitcasting reel. You will find tho as you pick up more and more techniques you will keep buying more rods (and reels) to match your expanding game. I love my medium heavy baitcasting set up. But its a ton of fun finessing softplastics and picking up smallmouths on a medium action spinning rod! Best of luck bro
  3. I mainly fish for smalls and have lucked out on some colors more then others. On my lake, crawfish, minnows, gobies are the main menu. I had the most luck with a brown (or crawfish colored) texas rigged tube. Or a pearl/green senko/dinger, again texas rigged. I think these 2 weapons will be a good addition to your husky jerks, which slowed production for me as well. I used the spinnerbait all summer in choppy conditions as well (try chartreuse!)
