  1. I don't have a true bass boat, so it is tough to keep perfect boat position, but I try to just stay off the spot and throw diagonally across my spot, at a 45 or something, just to keep the bait in the strike zone the longest and not spook any bass by dropping a spinnerbait on their head (although sometimes I'll drop a plastic straight on their head if I can!)
  2. just over 5# smallmouth....georgian bay....chartreuse spinnerbait, last cast of the day at dusk!
  3. I'd prefer throwing fallen wood in the lake instead of plastic. I'm sure there is some nasty chemicals in a dyed plastic tree
  4. Ya, I'm dying for the sun, some fresh air and a warm breeze....not to mention a 4lbs + bass breaking the water to hit my frog! I am also going insane!
  5. what haven't I bought haha I picked up a Rick Clunn baitcaster as it was on a pretty awesome clearance price...so of course a rod to go with it. Basically any techniques I've heard about I go in and get the rigs for it. BP makes some cool clamp weights that you can add to your EWG hooks that are cool.
  6. That looks pretty sharp, I bet the smallies wouldn't mind it
  7. Luck E Magic Swimbaits are the most reasonably priced and work solid for me. They have a decent size and color selection.
  8. Ya like Ike says; Fish the Moment. Quit thinking about 80 different locations/techniques and just fish. Good mentality I think!
  9. haha ya we do for sure. But I think it is for us, to keep us experimenting, trying new things on the water. It keeps things innovative, unlike most sports.
  10. I should've added, that I kept having smallies follow it up, but never hit it...I got frustrated with it. I know people have better luck than I do tho.
  11. I kept getting the flat metal piece caught up in the weeds so often that I took of the metal plate and added a spinnerbait arm and a willow leaf blade. Turned out to be my most productive spinnerbait of all time hahaha
  12. Nice smallies!
  13. I have caught a few largemouths with a silver or chrome lipless crank. I fish extremely clear waters up north. Don't have as much look with smallies on it just yet. I like the chrome as it matches the sky a bit, gives a little flash, just keep the lure moving so the bass don't get a good look at it and you will get some reaction strikes.
  14. Often I grab Booyah spinnerbaits from basspro when they go on sale for 2.99 (in canada so more expensive then it'd be for y'all) or 3.99. I have yet to wear out one of the booyah spinnerbaits, however I usually loose them at the bottom of the lake haha.
  15. Bass Pro has their own BP brand that are a couple bucks cheaper than the TT ones or any others. That's the best I have seen, that aren't online...
  16. My memory is bit hazy as it was a while ago, but I had a smaller xrap, the size 8 I believe, in a realistic minnow color. Had a maximum of 1/4oz in splitshots on the line, but most likely it was less, like 3/16 or something. So with that light weight I just casted it out, let the sinker take the lure down, and its doing its xrap thing as the weight is creating some speed for it. Got to the bottom and I just started reeling it at a medium pace, never snapped it or anything extra. I don't think the weight was dragging on the bottom, but it was just enough to keep the lure down around 12-15 feet.
  17. Just toss them...I'm sure you will be picking up more than enough new stuff in the spring fishing sales!!

    aarons magic!
  19. My opinion is it is just another 'style'. I have had no problems hooking a bucketmouth with a EWG hook and a palomar knot. Once I start losing fish I will change it up. I saw a 'return knot' and it looks like a faster knot to tie than a snell but comes from the same angle on a straight hook.
  20. i use booyah mainly and a couple by strike king. Booyah got the best bang for the buck up here in Canada, they don't have reasonable prices for Terminator's....I need to make a run for them down to Dick's in Buffalo. I have no complaints with the booyahs over the years, and none so far with Strike King
  21. haha i dont throw many out, coincidently i threw some out that didnt look too fresh today. I should do it more often cause i have so d**n many! And roadwarrior is correct, I don't have enough time on the lake to be using a soft plastic thats lame and costing me fish. I don't remember the last time I ran out of an entire bag of 20 zoom worms!
  22. burning a spinnerbait!
  23. Last summer, definitely my jig & pig, I was using a strike king elite 3/4 oz jig with a zoom super salty chunk. That worked ALL the time. I also threw some creature baits, which I plan on throwing more this summer instead of the jig; Beaver, Tiki bug, bass pro flippin' craw, Northland slurpie craw. This summer i also picked up some strike king Game Hawg, a zoom super hog to add to the pile of flipping/pitching baits.
  24. I noticed some people said they'd get away with 10, 12# mono....and others use stuff like 50# braid. It's funny, I went back and looked at where people were fishing out of, and everyone from the south uses the heavy line and everyone from the north, not so much. I'm from the north north haha Canada eh, we have some slop, but the heaviest worst stuff, I have pulled out 4# largemouths with 14# test mono and never come close to breaking off. I think my "heavy cover" isn't the same as the south's "heavy cover". With that said, I think I could get away with that 12# mono. Thanks everyone! It was cool to see the differences in techniques/equipment that still find success for everyone.
