  1. I haven't been able to test this myself because my bass season has started yet up north. At the end of last season I started fishing a zoom speed worm. I had trouble getting the action I was hoping for. This year I have downsized my line to 12# Yo Zuri to help with the action. I had the worm rigged so the paddle tail was parallel with the water's surface (does that make sense?). 1/4 oz lead weight. Casting gear. MH 6'10" worm stick. If you fish this worm, how do you get best action/results from it? Including the orientation of the rig (ie paddle parallel to the surface or perpendicular??) Thanks guys.
  2. I thought it was a pretty thorough review. He said he would rank the lews above the curado G but behind the old curado E or the new chronarch (arguably the same reel)...that's fair. He put a lot of detail into his review which may help someone....your post on the other hand was useless.
  3. density?? Don't know if it effects weights for fishing that much? never heard about that. But....Water is most dense at 3. something degrees celsius if my memory holds true. That is just above freezing for my southern brothers. So that is why water gets colder as you go down deeper (colder water is denser and will "sink") until you hit 3 degrees. 3 degree water will always be at the bottom if the lake has 3 degree water ie a northern lake in the winter. Most bass lakes (at least when you are out fishing from your boat) don't and the difference of density throughout the depths is probably minimal. Did you know water is the only substance that is less dense when it takes on a solid form??? Strange stuff. Thats why ice on a lake is on the top! haha. So I would just fish whatever weight sinker gets you the bottom contact/control you are looking for. I hope that helps???
  4. My zman chatterbait has an elaztech trailer that came with it and never melted with the skirt on the chatterbait.....pretty sure it is just a silicone skirt and not elaztech at all. So I would hope the trailers would go fine with your favorite brand jig
  5. Like mentioned above...Don't store them with any other plastic or else they melt! I love how the elaztech material floats....drop shot the zman finesse worm and it has unreal action bc of it
  6. buzzbait...if its getting snagged up on cover switch to a cane toad (buzz frog etc). Cover water
  7. I prefer taking it to one of the Shimano satellite warranty centers. They are family owned tackle shops that are licensed to repair your shimano...they tend to be more consistent with the friendly service you expect from the local tackle store
  8. Straight braid, you won't be disappointed. Even on cover thats not ver dense, it still makes the water dark enough for braid. I fish grass lakes. Whenever I'm in the weeds braid is great for the jig or punch bait. With that said I have a worm/light jig rod with straight FC to balance out the heavy braid rig. But I did not notice any fish being line shy with straight braid, even up north where the cover is not nearly as heavy as down south. The B.A.S.S. Tourney that Ish won in florida right after the classic, the guys were pitching jigs to cane and laid down cane (not heavy mats) with straight braid.
  9. Work ok for me. I catch lots of smallies on them up north to
  10. I would not get bored of 3lbers....especially athletic smallies But the potential of hooking into a 5#+ on any flip is what keeps me going!
  11. 1-2 tops
  12. green pumpkin (+magic/blue fleck/green fleck etc)
  13. caught most of my largies on a jig when its all said and done Caught most my smallies on a spinnerbait and senko
  14. I used to have a friend when I was little that had a pool. I did not. I would invite him to play in the sprinkler on my front lawn. He came once then started offering to go in his pool instead. Mission accomplished. Something about this reminded me of my old tactics haha
  15. I flip the fast grip straight shank and use the short shank EWG treble hooks....love both never had a problem. Hopefully your incidence is an isolated one. Finding fish can be tough, last thing you need is technical problems!
  16. You should be good on the rod/line. I'd recommend getting a good quality reel for this heavy duty yet finesse (accurate casting) style of fishing. I have been using Owner Flipping Hooks with the center pin and made from Z-metal or something that is meant for heavy braid and rods. It holds the bait really nicely so I never have to worry about the baits position. Normally on straight shank hooks I tie a snell but with these owner hooks you can't really do that b/c of the eye position...but I have had an increase in hook up ratio with these hooks none the less. I use a San Diego Jam, never failed me on braid or floro. I prefer smaller craws for heavy cover, like a 3" Gamble BB Cricket or in cane with lighter weeds I may upsize to a bigger craw, 6" Lizard, or tube (Chigger craw, Any 6" lizard, Strike King Flipping Tube or Reaction Boom Tube). Pick dark colors b/c it is dark under those mats (black/blue etc). I use Tungsten weights...for punching usually 3/4 to 1oz for my part of the woods. But I go as light as I can get away with, but heavy enough I don't have to dink around with shaking the lure thru. you will make a lot of pitches/flips and not catch a bass on every one...so just keep focused and flip away!
  17. haha not me I dont talk enough I guess to bother Sometimes I'm swearing when I lose a lure and looking for a new one in the box haha
  18. green pumpkin or pumpkin (brown)
  19. Tuf Line is a good alternate to power pro...similar in how its made cheaper $$
  20. Try the 50# braid see how it goes. I think I throw mine on 15-20# mono I throw a buzz frog on heavy braid. I usually pick this up when it gets heavier or over heavy stuff. Whatever works for you tho bro
  21. I get better hook up ratio with a t-rig senko The only thing I don't like about the t-rig is after letting it sink I go to lift my rod trip to "pick up" the lure...I don't feel it flutter like I can with it rigged wacky...but otherwise the fall is similar and thats when you catch them...I just feel a bit "disconnected"
  22. Live Target frogs are nice
