  1. Quality rods have quality guides and I have never once had braid damage my guides.. however on cheapy guides i wouldnt use braid.
  2. How is fuel mileage on that rig and how fast is it with just you and a MED load in the boat? high 40's? and I was standing on one at a dealer last week and the deck does feel REALLY tiny compared to what im used to but I always take the seat down on all boats I dont sit when I fish so that makes it feel bigger. Is it a real stable boat and how does it ride? and does it get out of the hole and on plane easy? With the 90hp Opti, it gets on plane quickly. To be honest, because of below water line stumps in my lake, I don't remember going WOT. I don't have GPS but I would imagine it can get well into the 40s. The ride is good and you stay dry. Remember, it is aluminum so it is far lighter than fiberglass. Moreover, it is a reliable boat. However, finish quality on upholstery, etc., could be better. BTW, I bought mine new in '06. I hope this helps. Tom thanks for the INFO! ill let you know what I end up with.
  3. by the time I count loading and unloading time, extra gas to tow it.. outboard oil and gas and just all around time... not to say being able to get places I wont take my glass boat.. I say 15k is a value.. If I was doing it because I couldnt afford the gas to run the big rig I surely wouldnt be buying another boat nor would I have a 760.00 a month bass boat payment for the next 2 years.. I really wasnt asking for comments telling me why I shouldnt I have a wife for that... I've never been in a ALUM rig and wanted advice of people who have fished them or own one...and one more thing it cost me about 40.00 a day to take it out for my little mid week play days not 40 a week. total fuel+oil is more like 200ish a week. 4 miles a gallon adds up REAL fast. So your not doing it because you can't afford it, but the costs add up to $200.00 a week "REAL fast" and that's an issue? I don't think anyone said you should or shouldn't be doing anything. Funny thing about asking for opinions, someone might just express their opinion. Funny thing is I am asking opinions about boats not my bank account. I have my reasons for buying another boat. I didnt ask why shouldnt I buy another boat. anyhow thanks everyone that replied with remarks ON BOATS right now im pretty sure im gonna go with a TX190 with a 115EFI four stroke on it.. Im not a 4stroke kinda dude but I wanna give one a try. we have a Merc 25 big foot on are old jon boat we use for duck hunting and its been great for a long time and I love how quite it is.. boy its a handful to take it off or put it on lol Next question what kinda fuel mileage do you think it would get with a 115 4stroke on it? or should I just go with the package deal with the 90 and do you think that 115 will jump it on plane real fast?
  4. sweet just PM me when you got some time and we will make plans.
  5. I'm about 300 miles or so east of there Brute I fish Stick marsh A LOT and the glades it would be a lot less of a drive for you if we just was to meet up at Stick marsh its down there around Brevard county I fish it 2-3 times a month my dad goes with me some times but you would be more then welcome to join me down there let me know im going there on the 23rd with my dad and the 29th by my self so if you want to join me on the 29th that would be perfect. if you've never fished Stick marsh you just dont know what you are missing! IMHO the best bass lake in FL
  6. was it a small club tourny? I didnt see but a few boats in the pool! I see she didnt brag about the Speck she caught! also any guys who fish rodman a lot do you know when the next time there gonna drain it again is? probably next year? I love fishing rodman when its been drained its the best. and the boat will run right at 78 on GPS the way I have it propped I could get slightly over 80 if I wanted to with a different prop but it will be a little sluggish getting out of the hole I like how shes propped now. Irish_Bassman any day of the week fine for you? Let me know and we will plan a trip together real soon. Maybe go fish the river about 30 miles south of GCS I have a few coves I know good there down there around Putnam... its not a high numbers area but when you do catch fish there more times then not real nice fish.. and when you arent catching bass you will have plenty of bowfin and pickrel to keep you busy lololol
  7. I would try to learn using the best reel I can it will be better in the long run
  8. The Carrot stix is right there at top the list.. GLX's are amazing too.. you feel everything with the C stixs tho and for only 130-150 bucks.

  10. I live in Jacksonville FL and fish 2-3 days during the week and on weekends with my wife... some times during the week my dad joins me but for the most part I fish alone on the weekdays. I'm looking for a person that wants to fish during the week because I'm getting tired of fishing alone.. all you need is your rod and reels and drinks/food I will supply the boat and gas you can ride to the lake with me or meet me there your choice. Like I said I dont want any money for gas or anything just someone thats cool and likes to fish... My dad fishes one day a week with me and my wife on the weekends so 2 some times 3 days a week i fish alone and I'm tired of it.. if you are looking for someone to fish with heres your ticket.. we will be fishing from a 2008 Nitro Z-9 full tourny rig... During the week I fish on the St Johns some times and Rodmen a lot and a few lakes down around keystone that I have found some really HIGH numbers of fish i wouldnt say big fish but 40-50 fish days arent uncommon and the fish avg about 1 1/2 pounds and are willing to bite and have a good time with.. if you are interested comment or PM or email me samuelbrock82@aol.com and lets go catch a fish or two or 50... let me know.
  11. I put Popular brands on the poll that are the biggest in the south... I didnt add boat company's to the poll that arent real big around here. there are a few Skeeter around here but not a lot.. I put boats brands that there are A LOT of! thanks and enjoy your boats guys! Also the statement about Nitro being rated close to the bottom, well years ago say 2002 and before I wouldnt own a Nitro for nothing... now days Nitro's are VERY high quality hulls and fish as good or better then anything out there (I have never fished a Champion or Stratos). The only thing I dont like about my Z-9 is it has to high of a draft and doesnt float in Shallow enough water forcing me to buy another ALUM bass boat to fish some areas that I fish.. Oh well nothing wrong with having both other then my wife being ticked. My Dad owns a Z21 21 foot 2008 Ranger and My Z-9 Rides better fishes better and is faster then the ranger and was about 7 grand less with the same engine and more less the same options. I paid 56,700 for my rig out the door my dad paid something around 60-64,000 for his rig... IMHO I got FAR more boat for cheaper... Other then the Draft problem I love my Z-9 I used to owner a Blazer and it fished GREAT but didnt have close to as big of a deck as the Z-9 and wasnt as stable and it could be a handful to drive at times but it had a really shallow draft and I loved that about it and it was 25MPH faster and at times I miss that but at times the blazer would scare the hell out of you.. it was a quality hull and If I had the money I would love to have my Blazer and the Z-9 lol... I still need to speak to a Bullet owner I have some Questions about a 20 foot Bullet Merc 2.5 (280HP Offshore) boats running 103MPH with one person, no gear and half tank of fuel.. We can not get this boat setup to be fairly easy to drive it walks all over the place.. I have A LOT of EXP driving a 100MPH rig when I owned my Blazer and it drove pretty easy it just got hairy at times when it was over trimmed or the Jack plate was to high and what not.. more less it drove great unless there was some driver error.. We cant get the bullet to not walk even when its propped perfect and its balanced to a T.. and on totally flat water it feels like its skipping (Hull jumping out of the water totally off the pad) once it hits about 93MPH and wont stop till it hits about 97MPH that 4MPH is scary as hell.. please any help on this matter would be great... Its my Brother in laws boat.. he dont fish much just likes to ride but for the life of me and my dad (we have been around boats since I can remember) can NOT get this d**n thing setup.. On my Blazer once I got a good trim and jack plate setup I could take my hand off the wheel even at WOT and the boat tracked true and didnt walk hardly at all it took some time getting it setup but it responded well to different props and trim/jack adjustments. the Bullet just doesnt respond to anything other then Trim and one more thing it has Seastar steering on it and still the prop torque makes you keep a strong arm on the wheel or it pulls like crazy... no hull ive ever had or drove had more then a little torque feed back when running Sea star HYD steering.. his is crazy bad almost feels like cable steering and its been checked out and its perfect so its not a bad steering unit... please guys I know there are plenty of people on here thats drove very fast hulls and knows a thing or two about boat setup please help I dont want him to sell the boat because he and my sister really enjoy fast boats.. but this thing is just not drivable and very unsafe.. any one who has ever drove a 90+MPH rig knows anything mishandling at those speeds becomes very unsafe VERY fast lol well this boat mishandles from 80MPH and higher.
  12. the Daiwa Exceler or TD-Pro would be the choice I would go with in that price range. the only difference between the two reels besides the 20-30 dollar price is the TD-PRO has bearings in the knobs and the color looks cooler to me but other then that there the same reel.
  13. Go on Ebay they have new Daiwa Zillions for like 219-229.00 free shipping get you a 7/1 Zillion and have an AMAZING reel thats built like a tank but preforms like a LAMBO
