You aren't kidding about those crappie fisherman in the spring, that place is ridiculous. I made the mistake of fishing there on memorial day right before the motor restriction, I couldn't even get the boat around all the bobbers out there. I fished PC for the first time last fall. Only caught a couple but it seems like a nice lake. Can't wait for some warmer weather around here! I'm going crazy reading all this about fishing and not being able to go.

Thanks Everyone! Hey Dave D, what bodies of water do you fish? We're practically neighbors, my work is out of CR but I work down here in Iowa City.....most of the time.

I am coming close to finishing my winter project of adding a deck in my jon boat. I have a bow mount trolling motor and had a question on location for mounting. I am wanting to conserve as much space on the front as possible and was going to mount it clear to one side (so the motor would drop on the front, clear to one side of the boat). Is this going to cause any tracking problems? or does the motor need to drop in the middle of the boat for best control? If anyone has any advice that would be great so I can mount it just once!

Hello everyone, I thankfully stumbled across this website while trying to get over the Iowa winter blues and waiting for the ice to melt and the water to warm up a little bit. I am 26 years old, living in the Iowa City area and have been fishing since I was old enough to walk. I took a special liking to bass fishing at a very young age and has stuck with me since. I recently got married to a very patient lady who lets me fish as much as I can (for now anyway). I fish many local lakes in the southeastern Iowa area and hopefully will venture towards the Mississippi this summer and attempt to fish that. So if anyone has any suggestions on fishing the Mississippi anywhere along Iowa (especially the mid to southern part) I am all ears. Or any navigation/safety precautions I might need to be aware of. Look forward to expanding my knowledge and maybe be able to give a tip or two myself!
