  1. Might pick up an old diawa whisker w1305e from craigslist. It has the micro computer thinger on it. Anyone have any experience with these?
  2. NW Indiana here too...non-boater...here's my pics for best places to fish in this neck of the woods: Wolf Lake in Hammond for musky, pike, walleye and large & smallmouth bass; Lake George in Hobart for bass and slab crappies; Long Lake in Valparaiso for bass n gills; Flint Lake in Valparaiso for bass, crappies and walleyes; Willow Slough near Morocco (sp) for bass and gills; Pine/Stone Lake in LaPorte for bass, crappies and giant sunfish; Salt Creek, Beauty Creek, and Trail Creek for trout and salmon; Kankakee River for walleye, large & smallmouth bass, crappies and pike; Tippiecanoe River for smallmouth, walleye and pike; and a ton of small bodies of water near Hammond area in industrial and/or shopping areas that are loaded with slab crappies and big bass. Well, that ought to be enough to get you started anyway...my favorite is the Kankakee River - plenty of public access from the state line to an area near South Bend where the river starts/is joined by the Kankakee Ditch...ooops and don't forget the Yellow River for excellent smallmouth fishing too. Do you know if you can still rent boats on Wahoub? My Dad use to take us there when we were kids and the public was able to rent boats no public launch though.
  3. So the monkey made me go get a couple rods this morning. Here is what I bought and am thinking. 1) Tourney Trail Spin Cast 6ft Medium/Fast 6-12lb test 1/4-5/8oz Thinking I could use this for lighter no cover split shotting, drop shoting, shakey head, and texas rigging. 2)Tourney Trail casting 6ft6 MH/MF 8-17lb test 1/4-1 oz Thinking I can use this for carolina rigs, deep drop shot, and texas rigging in heavy cover. I don't have a cranking rod and was wondering if I could also throw some crankbaits with this one also. What do you guys think. Any feedback would be great. Thanks
  4. Would these be alright to set up a light spinning and heavy baitcast worm rod combo with? Any feedback would be great thanks.
  5. Well I never made it over there. > Ran out of time. Probably gonna go the used route now. Thanks for the input though.
  6. Going the baitcaster route. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Gotta get over there today.
  7. Looking to hit bass pro before sale and trade in ends. I need a good worm rod and reel set up. Not sure how much I will spend but would like to keep it under 175. Anyone got some suggestions? Thanks
  8. Thanks for putting this in the right spot fivebasslimit and thanks for all the information from everyone else. I will be trying to catch the big boys in the lilly pads at Dewart Lake in Syracuse, IN. Can't wait for summer vacation(I'm a PE teacher). Good Luck to all this fishing season.
  9. Hey guys. I am new to the board and have been gather a lot of great info from all of you. Thanks. I have a question that I have not been able to find the answer to on here though. I am going to fish my sisters lake with frogs this year because the lake contains an abundant amount of lilly pads. I plan on using 65lb. braid. What kind of knot should I use when tying on the frog lure?
