  1. I have a couple of questions about the area I need some help with. I can pass my email address or whatever...thanks.
  2. Yes. I have a handheld Garmin Venture HC Color and use it a lot for things like you mention.
  3. When you leave the ramp and go out through the canal on the left, there was a shallow place just before the main lake opening that you sort of had to gun it and run through on plane because it was so shallow.....Is it still like that and can you get through ok or has it filled in? Thanks,
  4. Different strokes I guess....I have Columbia Omni Tech also...Maybe made differently than yours....Mine are older and I just used mine Smallmouth fishing in Canada and it rained on me almost everyday - not just rain but poured at times. Mine kept me very dry. I have a pair of Muck Boots that I wore with the bottom of the Omni Techs over the top of the boot and I never got damp or wet anywhere but my face and collar area. On the Frogg Togg stuff - I like them to have in the boat for a quick shower or a light mist -- but in RAIN or if you ever have to sit down -- forget it. I have a lot of rain gear and I have had very good results with Gore Tex too....but I for one can't complain about the performance of the Columbia Omni Tech stuff. I am in the rain a lot I guess. I fish in the rain, and my season football seats are outside in the rain, and I hike in the rain etc. etc. Maybe treat the Columbia stuff and give it another try although mine has never been treated..
  5. This is correct in my opinion. The person in the front can stop and start the TM to please where his next cast is going to be and also where is lure presently is. This is a huge advantage under MOST circumstances - the exception is maybe fishing a spot where there are targets at 360 degrees or when fishing open water. Also the front seat can take the most productive casts. For instance - I may have 5 rods on the deck and switch back and forth a lot - topwater, floating worm, texas rig, spinnerbait etc...The guy running the TM knows what he has in his hand, where his bait is and can run the TM accordingly - not so for the rear deck....you are going where the front takes you whether your worm has hit the bottom or not or whether the front drags your topwater along away from the spot you just cast to. The guy in the back has a big disadvantage unless the person in the front pays a LOT of attention to the rear deck and that is hard to do successfully when you also run the TM and try to fish. If I am in the front I try real hard to watch the rear and help them adjust and be overly fair -- but even then probably make mistakes that hurts the rear deck....unavoidable at times.
  6. I forgot- Make sure to get by Shady Gator ---good food and accessible by water or land...around Horseshoe Bend.
  7. Just got back from a trip there. We caught a whole lot of bass. Most of the fish we caught were in Gravois Arm....al up and down it -- mainly topwater and Senkos Every time we went somewhere else - we ended up back at Gravois...or the area around Gravois creeks.
  8. I am retired and bass fish a lot. I have a trip planned to LOZ this Saturday - May 1st. for a whole week and I really need some help. We will be staying near Lake Ozark, MO...I don't know the lake at all. It would be cheaper to drive the car and launch somewhere else if needed than to drive the boat I think and money savings is a good priority. I have asked a couple of nice folks here for help and am also asking the forum. If you don't want to help me in public I understand -- please just send a PM to me. I don't want to drive all over and waste a lot of time trying to find good places to fish for LMB. We do all catch and release...We also like to catch hybrids, stripers and whites if LMB are not cooperating.....Any help is appreciated...I don't kmow my way around LOZ so any specifics is appreciated too. Thank you a lot. I hope we can make this a good trip.
  9. Ditto. The biggest fish I caught this year came from Garcia. But I gotta tell you --- it is better than SM in the wind but at 20 to 30 MPH gusts....I wouldn't fish either of them.
  10. Today is 3/2 and I wouldn't be caught on SM today on a bet......Really not on any lake around there today. I am near there and the wind is brutal......I hope you made it back OK.
  11. I used to fish Sardis a lot before I moved. Get a map and find a creek called Blackwater...It is hard to locate in a boat on the water unless you have a gps point but you can get one by finding the creek and use Google Earth to get the GPS.
  12. I was fishing Lake Fork with a buddy. He was running the trolling motor pretty fast to move out of the area. I was standing on the back deck near the edge and casting to some pads. He hit a stump very solidly with the TM and I went right into the water with a rod and Shimano Chronarch combo in my hand. It was March and cold. I went all the way under water and came up with the rod in my hand telling him to take the rod..take the rod...We had to go back a long way to where we were staying...Did I say it was March? I almost froze...but I held onto the rod.
  13. Did the cold weather kill the Peacocks? I have not seen a report from anybody on how they fared. I was thinking of making a trip farther south in Fla to fish for 3 or 4 days....but are they still there in numbers...I have not seen a report yet. You can PM me if you want to and not post in public forum...I really need some help here. Thanks a lot.
  14. Does anybody here fish Lake of the Ozarks? If so, could you PM me - I have a few questions and need some help with a trip I would like to do there. Thanks.
  15. We had a similar problem in Arkansas with some lakes....The answer is as stated above....1... cut down on tournaments (at least when fish are on beds)....2....Stock fingerlings...and 3. Have a slot limit... Some lakes we had - I really think the slot limit made the most difference................
  16. I am from Arkansas and bass fish a lot....a whole lot. I live on a lake there...I am in the Cocoa Beach area for a while and would like to talk about taking you up on the offer. I have transportation. How can we get in touch? I brought some of my rods and gear with me. I would drive to meet you and go if you would like. Looks like Saturday morning might be a little wet but I brought my rain gear too.
  17. I am going to spend some time in Florida around the Titusville area and also around Orlando and Ocala. What would be a hot productive lake to fish some while there....I have a project there and will also be in the Lakeland area. Will be there in Dec and Jan and Feb, What are the hot lakes in Florida now where some good numbers og largemouth can be caught? Thank you for your help.
  18. Send me a PM. I fish DeGray a lot. I will check back for the PM but I am not on this board a whole lot. Put your email in the PM.
