  1. Glad to hear that! Lou and his wife and great people and run a fantastic business. He's incredibly knowledgeable and will share any info he has on local reports and he won't try to sell you something you don't need. They have a two week annual spring sale in late Feb / early March, same deal 20% off the store. Enjoy the new gear!
  2. I live 25 minutes from Cabela's in Hamburg and I'm always disappointed in their stock. Was just out there Tuesday and couldn't find what I needed. IMO, Wacky Worm blows them both away in terms of selection of lures, terminal, rods and reels. Plus, they're having their annual sale June 18 - 20, 20% OFF the entire store. Store will be open 9am - 6pm during the sale and the address is 1222 Interchange Rd, Gilbert, PA 18331
  3. Check out Due North Fishing on Facebook or Instagram! Mitch started guiding on Blue Marsh last year, is always on the lake and shares some great insight on how to catch fish the lake. He just put together a great bag there yesterday.
  4. I own the Max 3D 712 MLEF and it's my favorite rod by far. I use primarily for drop shotting and other finesse techniques. The rod is super light weight, sensitive and well built. I have a few Diesels, an original Max, an Endurance and the 3D... All are quality rods and perform how you expect them to for what you pay for each. With Powell's new pricing structure, I think you'll be hard pressed to find a better value.
  5. I've had success trimming one side an inch shorter than the other on my Live Targets. For me, it's easier to walk. Another tip I picked up is to stuff two or three Carolina rig beads (creating a rattle) inside the hollow bellow through the hole near the rear. I then super glue the hole to keep water out. As mentioned above, I've heard all kinds of different ideas... I picked up these tips from a Bassmaster Winning Ways show a couple of years ago.
  6. Good to hear. I was out with my buddy on his boat on Friday morning for a few hours. Water temp was 41 - 43. No bites, but was just out checking and tuning gear. I actually joined A town Hawghunters this year. I stopped down at the Nockamixon tourney on Saturday. Two fish over 6lbs were caught. I heard Beltzville was a much tougher day, I think only two boats weighed fish. HH is a great club with great guys, I'm looking forward to fishing my first tourney next Sunday.
  7. Hi all - I'm fishing my first tournament next Sunday at Elk River in MD, launching out of Elk Neck State Park. I've found next to nothing about this waterway on the Interweb. I'm looking for some (any) insight, recent reports or general info. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  8. Yeah, I was really surprised (and excited) to see the photos. The club has been posting pics on Facebook almost every day and it wasn't looking too good as of Sunday. My buddy and I were hoping to get out on Friday but the forecast is calling for 90% chance of rain and thunderstorms... Mother Nature is relentless!
  9. Beltzville is open and docks are in! I just saw a Facebook post by the Hawghunters of Allentown. FINALLY!
  10. My apologies for not responding sooner... I'd be happy to share some insight... Beltzville can definitely be a challenge and more times than not, lives up to its reputation as "The Dead Sea." That being said, I've also had great days there. I like fishing the dam, a few select coves, up the no wake zone and finding structure along the shoreline of the main lake. The power line stretch is very popular and shallow. There's also some nice stumps across from the Pine Run launch, Personally, I haven't done great at either spot. Over the past three years, I've been most successful with a dropshot. Have done decent on cranks and jerkbaits in the Spring. My buddy likes to throw Texas-rigged Paca Craws and has done well with a Bama Rig too. We both started getting into Jigs last year and both caught a few... this will be my primary focus this year. I hope this helps. Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to know. I'm still holding out hope that it'll be open by Friday, though that seems to a little too optimistic at this point.
  11. I just picked up my Oakley Gas Cans with my new prescription. Previously I had the Black Iridium lenses which I was not impressed with on the water. I went with the Deep Blue lenses this time because they're supposedly made for water applications. I guess I'll find out as soon as we get some soft water around here.
  12. I've been running 10lb fluoro the last few years, but am switching to 10lb braid with a fluoro leader this year. Do you tie directly (if so, what knot) or use a swivel?
  13. Word is because of the bad weather, Wacky Worm extended its Spring Sale through March 15. 20% off all rods & reels, 30% off all Quantum rods & reels, 10% off pretty much everything else. I've made the trip twice in two weeks, a third may be in order.
  14. Over the weekend, Coplay News Agency posted that there is 17" of ice on Leaser Lake. I'm imagining it's similar or more on Beltzville, Nock, etc. I hope this forecasted warm up comes to fruition.
