  1. can always change out the gear set
  2. got it. thx for the info. had high hopes for the xxx series from the pics. it's a shame as i'm not really feeling the new USA destroyers which look similar to the 16 destroyers...
  3. i wasnt too excited about the aesthetics of the 16 destroyers and passed when they were released but these look much better. what about the reel seat was uncomfortable? looks similar to shimano's ci4+ reel seat.
  4. there is a shop called lunker at the southeastern outskirts of seoul that has an impressive jdm selection. prices are not cheap but you can get an idea of their inventory here - lunker.co.kr
  5. I personally wouldn't sacrifice sensitivity in a topwater stick. Along with my bottom contact/plastics rods, they are the most important in my arsenal as they are also my jerkbait rods and see the most action during the season. When trying to discern a sluggish take on slack to semi-slack line in cold/windy conditions, a sensitive rod definitely helps. You'll be using it ice out/pre-spawn for jerkbaits, post-spawn for topwater, summer mornings/evening for topwater, and fall/winter for jerkbaits. You wont regret getting the best you can afford.
  6. not sure about most popular but i love defier armillo
  7. 1. Would love to go fishing with my grandfather again. 2. Wouldn't restrict myself and get the absolute best I could afford. 3. Spend as much time on the water as possible.
  8. i've had the worst experiences with ups and the best with fedex. i've shipped/received ~ 40 sticks too like bigfruits and my tally for broken sticks thus far - ups: 3, usps: 1 and fedex: none. for this reason i only ship pvc via fedex when selling. i dont purchase from an individual unless i verify that he will ship in a pvc tube.
  9. hope everything works out for you. glad you were able to find a replacement. the tackle trap rocks!
  10. hurts looking at that. hope you get your hands on a new one soon. absolutely love mine.
  11. Guessing it's the same size as the 101HG. Would love a 51HG BFS...
  12. You can can catch fish on whatever you want from ultra light to extra heavy. I started with my dad's saltwater gear many many years ago and have landed several 5 pounders on my niece's barbie rod as well. Find what feels best to you and it will be the "right" choice despite what others may say whether it's ML or M because only you know the lures, conditions and presentations you employ... The internet is full of useful info but nothing beats time on the water.
  13. Hey Freelancer. I too am not familiar with your gear but my advice would be to test out different rod and reel combinations with the various lures and techniques that you hope to employ and decide for yourself which setups feel best to you. And dont get too frustrated as the process is part of the fun. You'll discover a lot about not only the types of gear you enjoy using but a lot about your fishing style as well. Good luck!
  14. Only you can decide if it's worth it to you. I know that it's worth it to me.
  15. Agree with bigfruits and LC man. Have used both the GLX MBR 782 and 783 extensively. Still own the 783 as my dedicated shorter range spinnerbait stick and it SHINES for this technique from 1/4 - 1/2oz. Anything over 1/4oz is too much for the 782.
  16. Well done! Simply beautiful! My favorite reel platform for sure.
  17. Sniper 8# or 10# for clear water/pressured fish Defier 11# or 13# for stained water
  18. New monoblock. Looks like they went back to the weird looking CCC on the original monoblock. Not sure yet how I feel about the brown on the palming side plate.
  19. Agreed. Wallet is staying closed...
  20. Plat, jpangler, japanlureshop and digitaka are a few good ones.
  21. Depends. What types of topwater baits do you intend to use? A 1oz plus lure can absolutely be used on the same rod with frogs.
