  1. MMM, you had me thinking something else when I initially read the title of this thread.
  2. Welcome! I am sure Flyfisher will be along to share his knowledge as said earlier. You might want to look up Echo Lake, it's kind of tough, but there are some healthy fish in there! Also, the James river once spring --> summer comes along. One more VA person on the Forums. VA has to be near the top of where members are from on here.
  3. ^ I would go fishing with Tyf. I can tell you what they are not biting on, and where they are not biting. A big 0 for me this year!
  4. I have a Rocket and I personally think it is too fast. I have been tinkering around selling it off, but have not really decided. The Rocket is a nice reel, search the internet you can find it cheaper then $300. But, it is a fast reel!! your lure will cover some water. The Rocket does have a longer handle. Also, I thought the STX came in an 8 to 1 gear?
  5. I wonder how many kids lives you saved that might swim there by catching that thing! Great catch! I'm working on a 'BIG O-fer," this year so, I AM ENVIOUS!
  6. Admit it, you needed a harpoon to land him. Great catch!
  7. If a bass ever looked like it belonged to an Italian mafia, that would be the fish right there. Uncle Guido people! Great catch!
  8. Hello everyone, I am looking to see if anyone has fished these lakes lately? My wife and I are thinking about heading out there tomorrow. Thanks for the help! Wdy
  9. Welcome to Bass Resource kdfiter!
  10. Try slowing up the cast to let the line loop develop more on the back cast. It's really a rhythm game in getting the cast down. It sounds like you're getting the hang of it though. Good luck!
  11. Yeah, fly line is expensive. I always take my line off after using it to help prevent coiling. Plus, I don't get out as much as I want to. So my two reasons. If you look around you can find good deals. I would suggest getting a line with braided loop ends. Also, since you got a 6wt. I would recommend your next fly rod be at least 2weights away. You will not notice much of a difference with that of only one weight. Good luck & welcome to poverty!
  12. The reviews for them are good at TW.
  13. MMMMmmmm.... I had a possible job there a couple of years ago. I am glad I did not pursue it now. Good luck Memphis, that's a tough position to be in.
  14. yeah, I agree with what is said here. Sniper is great stuff, and I have never had trouble with Pline, both solid lines for a lot of applications.
  15. I agree CGolf, I think around some rocks or branches bouncing them off structure like that could be the ticket with the unique wobble it has.
  16. Mmmm, I do miss Louisiana's cooking, music, people, and bass fishing! I wish ***atic could be tagged in this post. I know he would chime in. (Josh is a bass catching machine!)
  17. Hey everyone, I wanted to ask how many people use these squarebills? I used one today for the first time and thought it was pretty interesting. Meaning, it is a % bigger than the KVD 1.5, (as to be expected) but the action was not what I thought, in a good way. A lot more wobble in the head and tail of the lure on retrieve. I did not catch anything on it, but no trouble casting it a ways out there as to be expected. Any other thoughts, or success stories with these? Wdy
  18. I would go with the lighter reel, more repetitive motion when flipping, more fatigue. Either one should be fine, I am sure the Quantum haters are going to show up soon. (I have two Exo's and love them.)
  19. ^ I'm going fishing with you sometime soon!
  20. Yeah, Rapala knot for me on this one. I like it because it allows "a little more give," in the line for the bass to grab ahold of the lure. More stretch if you will. But, in all simplicity, a knot that does not fail is the one you use.
  21. That Pinnacle Primus reel is a nice one! RW let me borrow his and I liked that thing a lot! (I still owe him line for it.) Rod: Powell 775 3D max (big boy rod!)
  22. There is another thread along the same question about a page down. I would personally go with a shorter rod, getting in close to over hanging branches could cause problems.
  23. I'd be interested in trying 1 out. I assume the potential line guide issues will be solved. Kind of curious the weight.
  24. Ahh, the Smith, I usually run to the South River, or Beaver Creek. Great Catch!
