  1. One time I replaced an impeller and sometimes it didn't pump right. When I took it back apart one of the blades was facing the wrong way. The manual on my new motor says to lubricate and turn it the right direction when installing.
  2. I used to feed mine crickets from my yard. I do think it is illegal to release them back into the wild. It was real neat to show him the cricket first and watch him get excited. The cricket would not last 10 seconds.
  3. If you want to do it by the book you may want to get a 3/8 inch torque wrench. If you are only replacing the impeller make sure you inspect the housing for excessive wear. Also make sure you turn it the right direction when you push the impeller into place.
  4. Originally financed boat for 10 years. After paying that for a while I decided that was crazy so I refinanced for four years. Now I've gotten tired of the note and plan on building a new house next year so I'm paying $1400 a month so it will be paid off in December. I take great care of it and plan on having it forever.
  5. I think you could be jumping the gun. I'm not familiar with that motor so I don't know if it has a rubber bushing in the prop that would slip if it failed. I once had a motor that the rubber bushing failed and I too had to get back in reverse. Might not be your problem but worth checking into. If your problem is in the lower unit and you have never torn one down then I would not attempt to. It takes special tools. It is a little expensive to have a dealer fix but I would get an estimate. I'm sure if you asked around you could find an older retired outboard mechanic that would fix that at a cheap price. Good luck.
  6. Andy I would say that if you keep pumping it and it runs good that your fuel pump is bad. When you pump the bulb the gas squirts into the carb bowl until the float shuts the gas off. After that the fuel pump keeps it full as the engine runs. It is still possible for the bulb or hose to be bad. If there is a hole in the hose then the pump will lose its prime and suck air. If the check valve in the bulb is bad then fuel will leak back down into the tank and loose it's prime. Sometimes it is just a process of elimination. Buy or borrow a fuel line. Also check the diaphram in the fuel pump. If it has a hole in it then their is your problem. If the pump housing has no cracks in it then you can buy just the diaphram. Also if you leave the gas cap loose then the air will vent into the tank so you know it is not a venting problem. One thing you know for sure is if you pump the bulb and it runs good then you have a fuel problem. It has to be the things that I said or still maybe possible be a carb problem.
  7. I have no clue what type of lift that is or if it is an electric lift or an electric pump. But if the relays are new and clicking then the problem is in the lift itself. My guess is either the wire connection to it is corroded the motor is going out electrically or some bearings are going out or dry since it does go up fast sometimes. Also make sure you have a strong enough battery. If it is hydraulic check the fluid and the flow.
  8. My bass boat came with an on board charger. It is totally automatic. It is very light as it doesn't use the old heavy transformer like old chargers use. I believe it is called a inverter type charger. It stays hooked up to the batteries all the time and it has a cord that I plug into an outlet. It has two banks and charges my trolling and engine battery at the same time. The electricity it produces is cleaner than old charges and it slows it self down to almost nothing when the batteries are charged. It gives you a green light when it is done and you can leave it on all the time if you wish. I also have a portable one like it that I bought at Lowes and use it on all of my other batteries. It really works great and charges your battery right every time. Also my portable one has other functions like a battery reconditioner and tester, reverse polartity protection and charging system tester. I believe it was like 65 dollars.
  9. Bass or Bass $6500 is not too much money for that boat. I have spent much more than that fixing up cars. Some I got all my money back and some I lost a little. There are many ways to look at things. I probably paid more than half that much in taxes and interest on my boat. Here in Louisiana we have a wooden boat festival and you wouldn't believe the money put into those old boats. Personally I love to see old things restored. If I would have ran across that boat I may have done the same thing. Its all in what you like and what you can do. I have a bike right now that I bought new 1-1/2 years ago and I can't get close to enough for what I have put in it. I've had it for sale for 2 months now.

  11. Does anyone have a bimini top on their bass boat? How do you like it? Does it get in your way when it is down? Can you still put your boat cover on when it is down? Any suggestions on a brand? Was it hard to install?
