  1. Lady Bass!!!! Welcome back. Hey, there' nothing wrong with expressing a different viewpoint or even a misunderstanding. I think some people misunderstood you as well. I wish you would teach me some of that foreign language you were using. I've never used any of those words before. : Glad to have you back!!!
  2. That's great, SFC_AL. When I was much younger I always said, "Why smoke something if it doesn't give you a buzz?" Now that I'm older and much wiser, I've shortened that sentence to "Why smoke?" I'm glad you've beaten the habit.
  3. Sounds like I need to purchase some Yozuri Rattle 'n' Vibes. I tend to stick with what has always worked for me so I'm usually behind the curve on buying newer baits. I've always used Rattle Traps and the Rapala rattlin' lures. I've had success with them so I haven't considered buying others.
  4. I agree with Flechero. I'll use a second hookset if I'm caught off guard or in the wrong position and my first one was shabby. Otherwise, I would never set the hook twice.

    Colors?

I try to select based on what I need to work any type of water clarity and situation. I'll try to have a balance of light, dark, and bright colored baits.
  6. Valascus, I agree with you about Indy. But give Peyton a solid defense and he will get his Superbowl ring eventually. I don't think this is the year for them. I know they're good, but that run defense will have to improve to make it through the playoffs.

  8. My hat's off to you, Randall. Most of us, except for those in southern states and California, would be glad to catch one double-digit bass in a lifetime.
  9. These little, short porkers are fun too catch.
  10. I bet anyone of us could go out over a period of weeks with Jimmy Houston, or any of these older guys who have seemingly "lost their edge" to the younger guys, and we'd get our butts handed to us the majority of days. Fishing ain't football. Yeah, sure a young guy can fish harder and faster for a longer length of time, but the older guys have the edge in experience and knowledge. You don't lose fishing knowledge as you get older. You gain it. At least until you become . . . . . senile.
  11. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe Kevin VanDam was using the Biosonix when he won his 3 tournaments in a row at the end of last season. I know he used it this year as well. He says he can definitely tell a difference with it. Personally, I wouldn't use one.
  12. Be safe. There's some beautiful country in some parts of Utah. Hope you get to see some of it. We'll be looking forward to your comments on the forum, when the 15th arrives.
  13. Also, another important note to make . . . . notice that LBH doesn't fall backwards out of the boat when setting the hook.

  15. So what kind of work would you put into an electronic bait that moves and makes the sounds of a baitfish. If this is your argument and you are comparing live bait to a hypothetical electronic bait that would require no input from the angler, then it would seem, by implication, you are saying that live bait doesn't require any input on your part either. And I know you don't believe that, because of your P.S. and other posts you have made about live bait. It would appear that you are contradicting yourself, or you are saying that the hypothetical electronic lure that I mentioned would require some type of input from the angler just the same. Just remember, I was trying to describe a hypothetical bait that requires no angler input whatsoever. My point is that, eventually, we can go too far with all of the aids we are providing for anglers, at least for me. This may not apply to you, and that's fine. There is no right or wrong opinion here.
  16. Fishin49er: Welcome to our humble abode.
  17. Excellent, succinct explanation, George. What more can be said?
  18. Not to change the subject but . . . . . Pujols won the National League gold glove for first base. He's becoming a great player defensively, as well. Scott Rolen won for third base. Muddy, Beltran won for centerfield.
  19. All of us have the freedom to do as we wish, as long as laws aren't broken. Having said that, I agree whole -heartedly with Avid. I do use a fish finder. A fish finder requires skill to interpret what you see on the screen. Also, fish buried in cover often don't show up on a fish finder. A fish finder gives me some idea of the structure down below, but I don't have a perfect picture. This is as far as I will go with fishing technology (and GPS to mark areas). I enjoy the game of trying to find the fish. When I don't have a fish finder available, the act of finding fish on deeper structure is even more of a challenge. The Biosonix device is just too much for me. With lures, I have to impart the action that gets the fish to bite. The next thing you know, they'll be selling perfect electronic shad replicas that have all the movements and sounds of a school of shad without any effort on the part of the angler. The joy of fishing is made up of two major things for me: the challenge of finding and fooling the bass, and the interaction with nature. I don't want some device fooling the fish. I want to be the one who fools the fish.
  20. Yes, I did. I wish I could take off from work but I've got to cut over some sites on a network installation every day this week. > Oh, well, I'll fish when I can.
  21. I fished a pond yesterday and started in 6 - 7 feet of water, moving deeper as the morning progressed. I was fishing with the owner's aluminum boat, no trolling motor, no electronics, and no thermometer. After an hour and a half I eventually found fish at about 14 - 16 feet according to my countdown on my lures. I tried a t-rigged worm, a jig, and slow rolling a spinnerbait. I caught one on the jig, and three on the spinnerbait. None of the fish were bigger that 2.5 lbs. The bites were really light. I would have stayed longer, but it was really windy and I was using a paddle. I would let the wind blow me across the pond and fish the deeper water as I crossed it, using my drift sock. Then I would paddle back to the other side and do it again. I got tired of fighting the wind. This pond is only about 5 acres so, for you KC area fishermen, the fish are starting to move deeper in the Kansas City area, at least on smaller bodies of water. When I started fishing the temperature was only 31 degrees outside. It has been down in the 20s the last few nights. Water temperatures on large lakes like Smithville are still in the 50s so you may still be able to find some shallower than this on those lakes.
  22. Oh no, there's more than one???????
  23. I became much more proficient with using the Carolina rig.
  24. Nice, subtle one to slip in there, GMAN. I'll stick with my Homelite retriever. Though lower in value it still gets the job done.
