  1. I think people are reading too much into it. The article was about the rod. The rod does not really matter; the man was able to find the winning pattern and capitalized on it. The man was doing what he had to for his sponsor. If you fished for Daiwa and they did not have a rod suitable for a particular application, you would still wear a Daiwa logo regardless of the rod you used, because you are paid by them after all is said and done. Same thing was done here, end of story.
  2. The article also mentioned the swimbait, so since the fisherman is using both why not show them together.
  3. So since the article was about the rod, they should not have shown said rod. I think people may be reading more into the review of the rod, than there really is. Even the article says it was not using it exclusively. Remember this article was only about the new rod: that is it nothing more, nothing less.
  4. After reading the TackleTog blog, no where did it say he used Boyd's rods exclusively. It said He may not have been using these sticks exclusively, after all, the new Micro Magic swimbait sticks are still in prototype stages, but Velvick tells us the rods are very close to completion. I agree he did not use the Boyd's rod but he is sponsored by this company and is fulfilling his obligations to that company. I do not think that this article was written to misguide readers, but to show them what Byron's sponsor has to offer. I think this rod has made big news, by offering micro guides on a production rod and the trend of rod builders going to this technology.
  5. Dobyn's 701 and 702. I use the 701 for weightless 4 inch finesse worms. I am going to try the 702 for 4" weightless worms and switch my 701 to small crappie type jigs for some ultra light baitcasting.
  6. Steez FleXLite Cast Rod 6'5" Med Lt. One of the best light weight cranking rods I have used. I got it for throwing baits of less than 1/4 of an ounce. I teamed it with a Pixy and love this combo.
  7. Tierra, love mine enough, I bought 2 more.
  8. Read over at ***, that Matt Herren will be now using Colmic Rods. These are Italian rods that were shown at last years Icast. the name of the rods are called Herakles.
  9. I guess you are right about selling what ever he wants becasue it is his. But you do not see to many ford dealers selling Chevy or Dodge. I guess the way I was looking at, is that even though you own the dealership out right, it may affect your sponsors. Kinda like Sposored by ABU but selling Daiwa at you shop. With your name being associated with one company and selling the other it seem like a conflict of intrest.
  10. I could deal with the white, but with the cork grip . . . JUST UGLY.
  11. This was a local dealer here in NC. He has been sposored by Ranger for at least the last 15 years. He was only carrying Genmar boats, I just saw on his website where he is now offering Phoenix boats for sale. This is a man who pretty much flys the Ranger flag. It would seem to take away from Ranger sales by doing this. In turn would you not think that Ranger might have something to say aboout this?
  12. Not to high jack the thread but E21 lost 3 of its pros to Duckett Fishing (Boyd). Now that has got to hurt.
  13. I was not sure where to put this, but what do you think would happen if your boat sposor found out you weere selling a competing brand. Like sponsored by Ranger and selling both Ranger and Phoenix boats.
  14. duckett fishing * - rods priced from 149.99 - 169.99 split grip or full grip from 159.99 - 179.99. They have American Tackle Nanolite micro guides.
  15. Duckett Fishing announced today that Bassmaster Elite Series anglers Byron Velvick, Jason Williamson and Pete Ponds have joined the company's pro staff and will fish the 2010 season using Duckett's new MicroMagic rods.
