  1. Hey Man, There aren't any in the County. There used to be about 3, but now there are none.
  2. I throw them as a chatterbait trailer. With that application, they last through a lot of fish.
  3. The Warrior Jig'n Trailer is perfect on finesse jigs. It's keeps the jig compact and has great, subtle action in the water http://www.warriorbaits.com/soft%20plastic%20jign%20trailers.html
  4. Good job Steve. Make sure you know the size limits before you box your fish, you don't want to get a ticket. The Warbirds guys are a great bunch of anglers, but it's all about time on the water. It doesn't matter how nice their rigs are or how many top of the line rods and reels they have, if you put the time in to find fish, you will do well. And I know you are out there a lot so it isn't surprising that you finished as well as you did. And what would fishing be without a little competeiton. That's why we always post pictures of our fish right? We want our fish to bigger than everyone elses!! ;D
  5. I highly doubt you will find much. If you are there early, the second you move your truck and trailer to pull, 3 cars are in your spot. Even in the 'Boats Only' parking area or on the grass. But if you are not in a hurry, you might just have to look around for a while... I was at Pohick yesterday, it was exactly like Dan said, EVERYONE was there. People had to walk way up the road to get their trailers.
  6. There is a ramp just north of National Airport. It's called Roaches Run or Gravely Point. You can only access it from the northbound lanes of the GW Parkway. For tomorrow, I suggest you go early because that ramp will become a zoo very early in the day.
  7. OUch, across and up. That sounds interesting. When I see a storm rolling in, I head to the nearest protected dock or shore, tie the boat up, and walk up to the shore. I'll just hunker down in my rain gear and wait for the nasty stuff pass.
  8. I run the river in a 16.5 G# with a 40hp. I do it weekly. I was out few weeks ago in those 30-40mph winds, but have learned where to run and where to fish in those conditions. I think the smaller and slower boat that I run makes it a little easier to control whereas in a bigger faster boat, you more likely to spear one. Having said that, I will probably spear one this weekend and they are only calling for 5mph winds.
  9. I am up here now in the Fairfield, Verona, West Orange Area. I wacked some fish yesterday at some pond in Verona Park. The males are on beds, the females are roaming looking for beds. I was able to catch cruising females and fish holding to structure. The milfoil is awesome, but literally no fish out of the grass. I believe the females are holding in the grass just offshore, but they were not eat.
  10. THe mouth of Mattawomen is the one roughest areas on the river. I would say it's second to the mouth of Aquia and Potomac Creeks. It can be like the Bering Strait down there. The shallow wood bite pretty much ends about the end of April as the grass takes over and covers the wood. On higher tides you can still fish the wood. There is also a lot of main river wood that does not get grassed in. You can also pattern docks, not in Mattawomen, but other creeks on the river have lots of docks. That is a pattern that pays off at times. I would say stick to the grass, frogs, toads, 10" worms, buzzbaits, craws... If it's weedless, throw it!
  11. I am surprised this article about the new team was not already posted http://basseast.com/?p=4497
  12. Sounds like a great day. Sorry about the biggun' you lost.
  13. Arg... I was reeling in a toad yesterday and the water behind it began to open. I watched the fish must trail my bait for a good 5 seconds before I realized it was a snakehead. I then yanked the bait away because I didnt want to catch the it. The fish jumped clear out of the water. It was a good 10lbs easy. That fish thought he was Jaws or something.
  14. Sunday is the LAPRBass out of Leesylvania. I will be launching from there.
  15. Steve its 800$ and it's random draw so you wont fish with the guy you sign up with. Last year Elite Pro Bobby Lane won it with about 18-22lbs a day. If you are on that, then do it. Otherwise, you wont want to donate. I've done the co-angler side that last few years, but this I have a wedding... >
  16. It's all tough, but nothing beats time on the water. Mark is right about the seasonal predictions, the fish are defiantly more stable in the summer. Just keep at it and you will figure it out.
  17. I don't even recognize the river with how flat it looks. You wouldn't believe the rollers coming through the mouth of Mattawomen on Sat and Sun.
  18. That thing is as nasty look as a Snakehead. My buddy had a 15lber this weekend. The swimbait was GONE along with the 6/0 hook. Both were down the gullet... BLEH
  19. Fished Saturday and Sunday out of Leesylvania. They never closed the ramp, but the River was the lowest I have seen in 15 years of fishing it. We pretty much spent 2 days finding areas out of the wind. Those areas were packed on Saturday with boats, but Sunday there 2 trailers in the lot when we launched and 1 left when we returned. Low tide was 10:41am on Sunday, but it was already at the lowest point when we launched at 6am. The tide never came in, not one inch at all. The factors were the wind out of the west on Sat and west-northwest on Sunday pushing the water out of the river, plus the new moon. New moon means less tide movement, slower current, and less tide range. But the fishing was good!!
  20. Ok since ur gonna be a wiseguy I'll pm ya for the scoop Oh, was that not the answer you were looking for? I think the actually picture was taken by the guy in the back of the boat.
  21. Haha. You just x2'd yourself! Hahahaha.
  22. I was standing on the front of my boat
  23. I got this one a little over 2 weeks ago. First one of the year!!
  24. Toss a little 4" senko in there and find out. That's how I test out new waters.
  25. I have dual bank Pro-Mariner that has been installed for about 5 years. It works great. I had one issue with a few years ago. I sent it back to them, they replaced with a new one and it was back in my boat in less then 2 weeks.
