  3. welcome to the site. get your notebook out, cuz its time to learn
  4. thats good. how do u get this interview w/ these guys??
  5. i go to guntersville alot, but i really want to go to okechobee so i can throw my frogs in that grass
  6. russ, i know your going to hate me for this, but since i fished with u im a huge dinger fan now. but when i went to cabelas in p.a. i met gary yamamoto in person. i had to buy some bags of senkos and get him to autograph them to give them to my friend. sorry man. but i hate gycb, cuz i tear them off with a cast, not even before it hits the water is it off, and i feel that dingers catch more fish. just my opinion
  7. the post about the g-lock worm will also help alot. some hooks just dont hold the head of the worm good. gammys really work better
  8. first off, no matter what you do, your worms are going to rip. there peices of soft plastic being eatin by viscious creatures. try super glueing the head to the eye of the hook. that will hold it n place. hopes this helps.
  9. poppers are my favorite top water bait, but if i went to a lake blindly i would pick up the buzzer. it covers water, and it see's if they want a fast presentation. when they are really smackin the buzz around and start to shy away from it. i will throw a popper and twitch it real fast then stop, then pop it a bunch of times with quick little jerks that cover about 6ft. of water. this is my best tactic for coldwater at lake varner.
  10. the ci-rig is a really good option. my favorite thing to do, is if they are like a faster fall, i will take a 1in. piece of a thin wire metal coat hanger, and stick in the middle of the body of the senko, your action is increased do to the more pressure of the water on the tial as it falls, and the bait falls faster. i have had days when they completely ignore a slow falling senko, but when i put that weight inside of it, they aboslutly crush it! good luck
  11. i make custom hair and rubber jigs. i'll p.m. with my patterns
  12. either name will work. thank you all
  13. the spook puppy is a great bait to catch fish with. you can also use a white 1/6oz. rooster tail or a 4inch. manns finnesse worm.
  14. hey low budget, im stealin your answer. i would say a zoom horny toad or a yum sizmic toad. t-rigged wieghtless. good luck
  15. first off, welcome to the BEST fishing forum in the world. ok, so heres the answers to your question 1) fly fishin for bass can be moderatly succesful. bass in the 2lb. range and higher tend to ignore all wet flies. wet flies mean they sink, and they ussualy look like minnows, but all sizes of bass love a hair bug. a hair bug is a bug lookin critter that is made with the thick side of bucktail. it floats, and is a popper. it is very hard to make these flies as a pro, so you being an amaetur will be extremyl difficult. but, fly fishin must be done with a fly rod and reel. i bought my first one form sports authoriy for 35bucks, and it came with everything i needed to get started, but when you get the hang of it, upgrade to a better one. also, make sure you get an instructional video on how to fly fish, because if u never have, it can be difficult to start with no guidance. you will be amazed at the art of it 2) for any pond new to me i would throw a buzzbait, senko, and spinnerbait. if you have never heard of a senko, you need to learn what these are. all these baits can be purchased at wal-mart. I go to walmart all the time, so here are my suggestions. pick up a bag of kinami flashs in 4" size, get red/black, and green. for buzzbaits, go with the arkie, there skirts look like there made out of tinsel, and for spinnerbiats, get the terminator t-2 in the white and chartreuse colors. if you have questions on how to use these baits or any kind of other bait, post your quest in fishing tackle 3) if you want to get a baitcaster, the best for an ultralight feel would be a bass pro shopd prolite finnesse reel with a bass pros hops bionic blade rod 6'6" medium action. for spinning gear, i would recommend a pfleuger president reel with a st.croix premier model in the 6'-6'6" range, medium action. i hope this helps
  16. im form loganville georgia. i live about 40 miles east of atlanta. i really enjoy fishin lake lanier and lake sinclair. but also lake varner, stone mountain, tribble mille, lake kendron, and black shoals.
  17. adam, welcome to the best fishin site in the world. i am having the same problem you are having about the stretchy line at long distances. the other prob i think you are having and a problem i know i would have, is the cost of braided line. its like 15bucks for what 150yds.????? i just made a change recently to a line called yo-zuri hybrid. it is a mix between florocarbon and nylon. i use 8lb. test, and it has a breakin test of 12. its just thin 12 basically. it has pretty much zero stretch and is super abrasion resistent. it costs 12 bucks for 6ooyds. it acts like braid, but is way more cost efficent. hope this helps
  18. wish my gf did that. but i am 15 and she doesnt have a job so it all works together nicely. happy b-day russ
  19. shad colored, and chartreuse
  20. i would also have to go with the suspended jerkbait. the trick that they told in bassmaster magazine really works well with suspended bass, except i use them on a lucky craft lure. get the lucky craft slender pointer. the larger version. my preference is the bone colred one. and drill 2 or 3 small holes in the top of the bait near the front. caution, i and not accountable for you breakin your lures. it takes practice to find the right balance. thats why i practiced on lures i got from the dollar bin at sports authority until i got it right. this only works on plastic bodied baits, not the wooden ones. but yeah, drill the holes in the head, and then cast it out, give it a few seconds to fill with water, the jerkbait will fall SUPER slow with a killer action identical to a senko, then give it a few quick jerks and kill it. suspended bass will be all over it. another alternative is the smithwick super rogue. drill into that one for the same action
  21. first, try smaller fishin tackle distributotors like wal-mart and sports authoriyt, look for discount bins full of baits. then try bigger companies like bass pros shops, dicks sporting goods, or cabelas outdoor outfitters
  22. skirts make a bulkier profile, and the bigger the skirt, the slower the fall
  23. yea, i agree with all the steel wool users
