  1. heres somethin i have learned when sight fishing or when i see a monster. my heart flutters, and even though i think im making my best presentation, im not. im so anxious i do not fish it like i ussualy would. heres what i would do. i would tie on my favorite baits. ones i know will catch fish. i would walk down to the pond, sit down in a fold out chair, i would not even dare to glance for the fish, i would cast out in unliikely places, and relax and have fun. go there with no intention of catchin fish, but the intention of doin what you love. ive noticed that when i see the big bass, i never catch them, but my monsters all have came when i set down my rod for a second to laugh with my freinds. pretend you dont even know that bass are there. and when you do catch them go IKE!!!!!!!!!
  2. try a manns baby minus one crank. u should wear them out. also, if you choose to continue with the buzzbait, have a weightless for a follow up on the buzzer. since your missing that many fish, you will be able to catch alot more with that follow up bait. i would suggest a 5-7 inch purple paddletail worm rigged with a 4/0 wide gap with no weight good luck at the tourny
  3. u got me convinced. im headin out to buy some next chance. btw, i suck at jigs
  4. i always see if the new water has any docks, because fish of all sizes will hold to them at all times. if the lake doesnt, then i will immediatly go to long and obcvious points
  5. junebug is very effiective in muddy waters where i live. my favorite color when its muddy is junebug and red bug
  6. i agree with sealand on this one, i have 3 baits in my boxes. rapala dt cranks in 3 colors, all diving depths, spinnerbaits- terminator super stainless in different sizes, blades, colors, and only xoom trick worms for soft plastics in 3 colors. i am going to learn how to fish these lures perfectly by next tourny season so i have confidence in them. those 3 baits will catch any fish anytime. and, it doesnt cost as much cuz im buyin one brand in each category. confidence is everything
  7. knowing your baits actions, and knowing how to succesfully acheive the action you want, visulaizing what it is doing under water. i ussually spend hours in an under ground pool lookin at my worm or jigs action when i move this way, or twich that way. i beleive knowing this and repeating this action on the water makes me better at wormin
  8. another thing you can do, is punh holes in the bag using a 3-hole punch, then putting them into a regular zip up, strechable school binder.
  9. you might run into a problem if it is a pond. a heavy influx of water like that screws up the ph level. if its enough, the fish will shut down, and will not bite. if you find this to be true, you best bet is to find the thickest veggies in the lake, and take a heavy worm or jig and slam it into the crap, because when they shut down, they bury themselves in the narliest vegetation, not brush, they can find, and you have to coax a reaction bite. hope this helps.
  10. send me your adress by pm, and a list of stuff they hit around you. i will gather some of the stuff im selling and send it to you. please ask for whatever. i need to give back to the forum in all ways for what everyone has done for me. dont feel bashful, and give me the whole list. hope everythnig works out for your family buddy. i'll keep you in my thoughts
  11. when i went to bps the other day, i found a bag of yum shakin worms in the clearance section for 50 cents. they were like green/turquise. well i rigged up those babies with a 3/16 oz. weight and a 1/0 hook and caught a ton out of a grass bed, and some lily pads. and half of them were over 12 inches. they really surprised me. well im rambling on here so yes, i would suggest the yum shakin worm
  12. one thing to remember is this. brush piles attract more bream and sunfish, and thicker structure, such as boulders, thick laydown trees, and dock pilings attract the bass. so, if the bass in your lake feed heavily on bream, plants brushpiles, so that bass will come in there and know they will always have food. i dont beleive there are any laws on planting brush piles. hope this helps.
  13. great shirts glenn, but i gotta agree with russ on some off these points. its COLD in r.i. in the winter. and even tho im not a northern angler anymore, i still am fishin winter tournies in ga and its plenty cold at 4 in the morning
  14. materials: dremel, hobby knifes(exacto), wood working knives, h&h screw in eyes, split rings, treble hooks, markers, paint, wood(balsa or red cedar), and most important.....sandpaper in 100-400 grit instructions: 1) take and cut a block of wood that you want to be the size of the top water, i prefer 2 inches long and about 1inch wide to start. 2) make a line down the middle of the block of wood. make sure it is DEAD center. the is important to the balance of the bait. 3) use the knives to take chunks of the wood to make a crude finished shape, and to the taper towards the butt of the lure 4) now use the dremel to take off the edges and make it nice and round. it doesnt have to be glassy smooth, but take out all the chunks and nitches. 5) now go to work with the sandpaper. use 100 grit and work your way to 400 grit. at this point it will be so smooth you probally cant hold it. no just playin but it is smooth. 6) shape the mouth however you please, whether it be popper, chugger or walk the dog. 7) paint the lure with a paint brush or air brush. airbrush makes the paint look more professional. then add a clear coat of water proof whatever. 8) add the screw in eyes, split rings and hooks. 9) examine your masterpeice and go where um out with it note: i have found that nailpolish from the dollar store can make some kick butt paint jobs. they sell every color for a buck. another alternative for the clear coat is a clear color from sally hansons hard as nails. this is the clear coat i use. it works great. be creative and have fun. and post your pics on it later
  15. welcome i know these guys are sayin not to because they dont want you to ruin crankbaits because they aint cheap, but, go to a sale bin, and buy some cheap crankbaits, and play around with them. then when you find the right balanca, use it on the expensive crankbaits.
  16. yea, that seems like the problamo to me. man there are sum biggens in those golf ponds
  17. i have caught them in about 40ft. at lanier, but i have heard of people catchin them in 100+in strip pits and quarry
  18. the spook you want to walk the dog with. really work it hard so that those rattles are workin, but let it rest every 5-6 side to side movements. with the skitter pop, twitch it hard once, and then let it sit, then do it again
  19. how do fish get in the qurries???
  20. key word here is kinami. that is a no no no. way to expensive, and they rip in like one bite. i tear them up just castin them. here are you alternitives for senkos. yum dingers, tiki stiks, edge worms, z-nail. but please not kinamis or senkos. you welcom to buy whatever you want, but they really tear up easy.
  21. you need a vice, bobbin, thread, head cement, bucktail, marabou, and a determination, cuz its hard. when you get these materails p.m. me and i will give you detailed instructions
  22. hahahah, the original bait monkey. thanks for starting that raul
  23. rainfall will affect fishing, especially heavy rains. it really disturbs the ph balance and they will shut off on sunny days, shade, and deep water will be your best bet for quality bass. the small ones will be everywhere regardless of conditions schoolies on top means topwater time. carefully examine what thie baitfish look like that they are bustin on. ussualy a spook or a white pop-r will work. a fluke and rooster tail works great in this situation also
  24. i went to one in jan. it was awesome
