  1. I know he has been extrmemly busy with his military move to Cali, but I haven't seen Tenka for a awhile. He came here a few months ago to check it but thats been it. Hope he's doing alright at the new place.
  2. I just picked up a pack of the 3/0's yesterday. I played around with them today trying to get them to slip down the hook and it was TOUGH to get those suckers to slide. There definately worth the money if you skip plastics hard. I have a tourmanent on Lake Sinclair this Feb and I know that I will be fishing docks so these hooks are a gift from god. There great and I will definately have one rigged for skips that require some extra muscle.
  3. 22 and now I'm lying 6ft under
  4. Brovarney definately, but I also have come to like the KVD swimjig. I bought a bunch at the 99. sale at bps, and found that there awesome. The hook on the light side.
  5. I dont get to fish for spots often, but when I do its at Lake Lanier. Everyone knows that Lanier means magnum spots. My favorite way to fish for them is topwater or shakey heads. My PB spot is 5lbs even and it was caught on a sammy 100 in american shad on a point in around 45ft of water. I love it when those spots gang up on the baitfish and just demolish them on the surface. Its BEAutiful
  6. This is exactly what I was going to say. The flat's size really has much less of an impact of its effectivness than its location. The sharper the breakline off the flat, the better. Bass, especially the bigger ones, feed mainly in areas where they have quick access to deep water. So let's say there is a flat that is 8'-10' deep and is 100 yards by 75 yards and the breakline drops slowly into 13' of water. Then you have a flat that is 8'-10' deep that is 10 yards by 20 yards but the breakline drops from 10' to 18' sharply. The qaulity fish will DEFINATELY be on this flat. It may be small but big fish need security and that gives it to them. When fishing the flats concentrate most of your efforts on the breakline. Although there may be alot of activity visible on the surface over the top of the flat, most of those active fish will be smaller. The large fish will sit on the breakline, dart onto the flat, pick off a meal, and rush back to the breakline and will most likely suspend over it. Topwaters, suspending jerkbaits, and jigs are awesome flat baits. Also, most flats usually have some sort of vegetation on it. Where the vegetation forms its own breakline is another fantastic place to find quality fish. They sit on the edge, hidden in the vegatation and they pick off prey swimming by but they feel protected in the weeds. Secondary points are smaller or less defined points located just after or near a "Main" point.
  7. I think that 95% of what comes out of pro's mouths is pure crap. Most people I talk to have never heard of Ikas before. If no one throws them, then why does GYCB still produce them. Easy, people dont want that secret leaking out. Just like what Brad said, the senko was secretly used for awhile before it got popular. Give it a few years and the ika will be everywhere
  8. I would definately get the new Spro BBZ-1 in silver fish. That thing is sooooo wicked. It is gonna be a real big fish producer and it swims flawlessly. Its pretty cheap at $40 to.
  9. I pretty much fish the sammy 100 exclusively when I fish topwaters. It was an awesome big fish producer this summer and fall. I rarely put pauses in my retrieves, but when I did it was only for a second. I dont believe in long pauses. The faster you work it, the better the fish will react and I think that most topwater strikes are mostly reaction.
  10. Jewel Baits Eakins jigs and Tru-Tungsten jigs. My favorite color would be texas craw or PB & J
  11. I would go with the fireline also. Try the new crystal. Its nice, but the whole invisibility thing is crap. I just beleive that fish aren't line shy.
  12. Lol. This sounds just like something LBH was telling me about last year. He was intaking 10,000 + calories/day and workin out and he didnt gain an OUNCE. My guess is that.... 1) your losing water weight as your gaining muscle weight. Most people aren't near hydrated as they should be and extra exercise reduces your water content even more. 2) You've lost fat content and that has balanced out with muscle weight. You will see a weight gain eventually. Just keep at it
  13. Welcome back Av. Your making me so jelous with the horny toads. I'm dying to pick up the sammy
  14. I would definately say topwater. My biggest fish have come in different techniques, but for constant 4-5lbers buzzbaits and sammies have owned that category
  15. Sammy 100 in american shad
  16. That 10lb mono wont seem so wonderful when a 10+ pulls you into thick weeds and stumps. Also, your saying you cast it a mile. If you have a fish take it right after you start your retrieve, your hookset will have little penetration due to the high stretch whereas braid will hook up with maximum penetration from any distance.
  17. Throwing 50lb braid on a BC is definately possible. I throw 25lb big game mono big game when I throw sammy 100, pointer 100, etc. What reel are you throwing it on? try the new spiderwire ultracast. It casts alot better than ordinay braid
  18. I said I wanted an 8. I got a few with the sweetest being an 8.2 in rhode island. Also caught an 8 at varner and one at Nunya. Lots of 7's, strangely no 6's and plenty of 5's and 4's.
  19. Gosh dont even get me started on this subject. The "theory" of self inflicted global warming is such a load. If anyone hasn't noticed, earth goes through natural stages. We had an ice age 10,000 years ago if I'm correct. People just love to blame things on other things so they feel better about themselves. So here's the dealio....Rebulicans want to blame Dem's, Dem's want to blame Repubs, different people blame it on different causes, but the fact is, earth is changing super slowly because thats what it is supposed to do. But if it makes you feel better, we could probably trace all of this global warming back to the cavemen who discovered fire....those scoundrels!! Global warming...so easy, a caveman could do it
  20. First off, my condolences to Sylvia's family. Sylvia is going to be wiped off the planet by Mirko CC, and even though Liddell is my boy, he's just not gonna be any match to Mirko's kickboxing skills. No matter how much punishment Liddell can take, no person can stand after a blow to the head that MCC delivers. It's over. Cro-Cop is going to rule UFC for awhile.
  21. I would go with the SX. I work at Bass Pro, and most of my break times are spent looking at the reels. The SX is just so similar to the STX that I strongly suggest the SX and go spend the $50 you saved on a can of silver spraypaint and then it will look like the STX. The SX rules this family of reels even though the S is really nice. The magnetic break system is what sells me on the SX
  22. Dude, I was fixin to pack my bags and head to nunya for good. Thats just not right ;D

  25. First off, the title of this thread is ridiculous and sounds like an insult to me Now IMO, the comment about fronts, rain, sunlight and pressure barely affecting trophy hunters is so far from the truth its not even funny. Big bass are SUPER sensitive when it comes to weather. On some days they will throw a swimbait, but when a severe front comes through most scale down to tiny 4" weenie worms on drop shot rigs with 4-6lb test line. A angler who can reel in a double digit bass on that equipment is on a higher level plateau than I could ever reach. Consistently finding those pigs puts them at an even higher level. This is coming from someone who fishes tournies on a regular basis, so I don't always target big fish. To say a trophy fisherman isn't a real bass fisherman just doesn't make sense. Trophy fisherman have more of a right to turn around and call me and you, the average joes, not real fisherman IMO
