  1. Dave, personally I would go with the two new reels. Those will allow you to cast farther, and they have a better drag system. Both aspects are critical in fishing that gin-clear water you live on. I would get the reels, and then save up again and upgrade the rods. The reel is always more important to me, but thats just my opinion. hope this helps in your decision
  2. not trying to hi-jack the thread, but has anyone ever thought of using a split tail spinnerbait trailer as a jig trailer? I would think it would look awesome on a swimming jig, and i imagine they might look less intimidating to a pressured fish.
  3. Cade...70 fish!! I would die if I had a day like that. Congrats man. You deserve it after such a long winter. I saw that you were throwing jerkbaits. Are you starting to like them?
  4. Man I hear ya Other. L337 speak tickS me off. I don't play any computer games other than playing starcraft once in awhile, but L337 really is just so unecessary. What annoys me most is when you find out that your girlfriend you have had for almost 2 years has been completely untruthful the entire time and has dragged you around with her because she craves attention, and then she just leaves you in a harsh, coldhearted way for a guy that she has liked behind your back. That one seems to get at me.
  5. Spinnerbaits. I have caught very few fish on them. I will fish an area with them, and then go back through with a crankbait and wipe up the fish. I think its half/half. Some baits aren't as effective as others, but confidence has alot to do with it. You can't catch a fish on something if the whole time your thinking it wont work. I think this has to do alot with Rick Clunn's article on Quantum physics, which has kinda changed the way I am attitude wise on the water.
  6. Thats an awesome fish!! I love playing fish on light line. How long did you fight her for? You should see what the Georgia record is for 4lb line and make it a goal to one day have that record. You can definately have an autograph...but it will be $5. Your son-in-law Gene still owes me $10 because I signed something for his wife and son!! Just kiding just kidding ;D Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Elliott trip!! It's gonna be so fun
  7. The unofficial record is 18lbs and it was caught, weighed, and pictured twice. It was caught by the same guy. I think the "official" record is 15lbs or something like that.
  8. Lol. Thats awesome! ;D ;D
  9. when you flip, your mainly flipping into cover. if your flipping under a dock, the shade hides the line. if your flipping into a logjam or whatever, the logs hide your line. if you flip to matted grass your most likely gettin reaction strikes by hitting them on the head. they dont have time to see the line. my guess...it doesn't make a difference clear lake or dirty, the only difference is mind blowing hooksets and getting more fish to the boat.
  10. You read that flouro is the only way to go when flipping or just all purpose fishing? When I flip into wood or rock cover I use 20lb Big game. When flipping to vegetation braid is the way to go. It cuts through it like butter. NEVER EVER EVER EVER use braid on rock. I've never really heard alot of people talking about flourocarbon for flipping
  11. 79% Dixie. I', afraid I've lost most of my yankee blood When I lived in Rhode Island, I used to call a water fountain a "Bubbler" LBH will know what I am talkin about
  12. couldn't tell you the weight, but i can tell you that the picture you took is INCREDIBLE. i would freak out if i snapped a paloroid like that. you should have that printed and framed. i cant get over it lol. as far as guessin, its near impossible to see a fish's girth in the water. you can only see length, and most fish get smaller as there in the water. if i had to guess, i would say it would be safe to say the fish wasn't under 3 or 4lbs once again, incredible picture. how did you do that? was it slowly swimmin away and you whipped out the camera a snapped it? mad mad props man
  13. there is definately such a thing as to much fishing for me. if i leave on a thursday to go out of town to prefish and i get home on sunday i miss out on alot. i enjoy fishing alot, but sometimes when i have a long weekend i miss my friends, hanging with girls, talking on the phone and being a teenager. none of my friends have commitments that take up all there weekends. some of them play travel hockey but its not a heavy schedule. ive been fishing free for 3 days now and i have enjoyed every second of it. im saying this as i tie on a swimbait and am fixing to head out to my lake. lol
  14. what a tiny fish! just kidding. that thing is a moose!!! i understand what your saying about the edge of excitement not being there.
  15. Either a Spro Bronzeye frog slowly crawled through my lily pad lair, or a zoom trick worm lathered up in megastrike just sitting there, shaking its tail at me.
  16. Dang 4bizz. That's an awesome day. You know your a good friend when the first thought that comes to your head when a 9lber slides out of the well was I hope thats mine. Keep on keepin on.
  17. yeah and alot of ice. Looks like the spawn is on hold for now... :-/ Dude spawn won't be in full swing until maybe mid-end of may at the earliest. We are still all ice here. Not really. The water has to be a steady 60*, and the air was 75* one of the days. Its been unusualy cold here this month, so they probaly will not start intill the begining of april (full moon) Water is 450 times more dense than air, therefore, a few 75 degree days wont cut it. If the surface temp is 60, most likely 5ft down it's alot cooler. Have you ever jumped into a lake from your boat to swim? Up where your arms are, its warm but at your feet it's alot colder. It takes weeks of constant warm temps to penetrate far enough into the water column for fish to know its time to spawn. You may have a few early bloomers, who are shallow all year, but it takes awhile for that water temp to raise in those deep water haunts that they stay in for winter. We have had 4 weeks of solid 70-80's and last thursday was the first day I saw fish on the beds. And they were building them, not laying eggs. A cold front swept through (the same that brought you snow) and now it will take atleast another week for them to move up again. Like Bassassasin said, I would bet on Late April to mid May for you.
  18. I own one, and I really like it. I haven't caught one on it, but the swimbait bite is just now starting to come around. My favorite part about the KS is when you twitch it like a jerkbait, it rolls over and then rolls back upright. I like working it on a slow retrieve, and adding small twitches in there every so often.
  19. That fish could have very well gone 6lbs. Pictures can be so decieving. It looks like it has a fat little gut. Take a look at the pictures in other peoples posts. Sometimes, holding a fish at certain angles can truly show it's size. The way you have it doesn't display it's length, girth, head size, etc. My favorite ways to hold fish are.. Holding the fish in the front and way back on the tail will show the fish's gut. It lets gravity kick in and really make it look weighed down When I catch a fish I try and look at the side of the fish that looks the best. Holding them like this shows a full jaw bone, the fish's length, and will show the thickness of the fish. The fish I'm holding in this pic weighed 6lbs 15oz. I'm holding it in a downward angle to the camera sorta like you are holding yours. This fish does not look 6lbs, but it was weighed on an accurate scale. You can see how the picture can really make the fish seem alot smaller. Great fish, and I hope this post helped you out in taking pictures that show the true size of the fish.
  20. DT-16, L.C. CB D-20, L.C. Moonsault 350, and Mann's stretch
  21. my my/space is /senko77 bucket - my/space and xanga and aim are all ways to keep in touch with friends. do you ever hang out with friends, go out with girls, etc? i understand what you mean about fishing all the time, but i couldn't do it ever day. there's wayyyyy to much to do out there.
  22. the worm your talking about is the one that is advertised in every fishing magazine. it's just like the banjo minnow or the helicopter lure.....junk imo. b.a.s.s. is not going to ban it. the author of the article's in the paper is charlie allen and he writes unbelievable lies. please please please dont fall for it and waste your money. the worm is called the "walking worm" the technology behind it is that there are pockets of air in the tail causing it to curl constantly. imho, live worms do not catch more bass than fake. go out with live worms one day. then go out with a zoom trick worm. see what happens
  23. lol. i used to get them sooo bad. it wasn't that i was nervous. it was just pure adrenaline. i never sleep before a tourny, and i fly out of bed the second my alarm clock goes off. i fished a real big tourny last year, and i had the biggest knot in my stomach. it was like my abs just locked up. does anyone have trouble eating? drymouth? those are classic sympstoms. lol. i love the nervousness. for some reason the second my boat touches the water it goes away.
