I don't think you can get a good jig rod that fishes cranks well. I use an Avid 7' MHXF for 1/2oz and up jigs and an Avid 6'8" MHXF for lighter jigs. These double duty as a spinnerbait rods. For crankbaits I have the SC Premier CB rods in M,MH, and H all are moderate action.
You need to have the LU pressure tested to find the leak. An ounce isn't a huge amount so there is a good chance you don't have any real damage. I have seen a lot of those older Mercs that just had a rotten o-ring on the fill plug letting water in.
I have a 1990 Procraft 16'. I'm not sure what it's worth but I can tell you it's not big enough for 4 people. It's barely enough for 2 people and their rods and tackle.
Can anyone tel me where to find a bullet mold that accepts straight shank hooks? I want a bullet with the eye on the point in 3/16 or 1/4 oz. All I can find are for 60 or 90 degree hooks.
I use an Avid 6'8" MXF with a Shimano Saros. I use 30lb Power Pro Hi Vis main line and 6-10lb Berkley 100% leader depending on the water temp. I like Buckeye Spot removers in 1/4 oz because the hooks are bigger than the lighter weight. I have always used Zoom finesse or shakeyhead worms but lately have been doing well with Big Bite's Squirrel Tail worms.
I have a 997 on the console and a 798 on the bow. I don't use the front SI much but when I do it's great. It's awesome to fish a row of docks or blow downs and see which ones hold fish. Side imaging works best 2-6 mph but it will work at 1/2 mph it just makes everything look longer than it is. I do regret not getting 2 997s as the 798 screen is small but I'm working on that now.
It is determined by the cone angle and depth. All this assumes the transducer is level. Best way to tell is to get in 20-30 ft of water and drop a large spoon straight down. Ideally you'll see the spoon go up and down if you jig it. If you don't see it turn your trolling motor until you do and you know which direction it's pointing.
I use 1/2 oz Cabelas Real Image in glow color with a white feathered treble hook. I jig them through bait fish as described above but I also cast them into schoolies with great success.
I have to set up a display at work for about a week and someone suggested putting bream in an aquarium in it. Since I have easy access to bass, I thought it might be easier to put a few small largemouths instead. What would it take to keep these alive for about a week until I can get them back to the lake? I can get any size tank but will I need lake water or can they live in chlorinated water? Can I just get some minnows from the bait store to feed them? Any advice is appreciated.
Is it for the bow or the console? If it's the console spring for a 997SI. I have 997s front and rear but rarely use SI on the trolling motor. I keep SI up on the console all the time and have found fish and cover you would never find with a 2D unit.
I am looking for a new finesse rod and have narrowed it down to either a AVS68MXF or a LTBS68MXF. The Legend does feel very slightly lighter than the Avid but is more sensitive? Is the difference worth the extra money or is it just paying for a flashy version of the Avid?
I don't think they still sell the 4ID TM mounts but you can make your own out of some thin aluminum stock. The new style has a thinner mount than yours and looks like this http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_58968?cm_mmc=froogle-_-200-1-2-_--1-_-38-524-852-00&hvarAID=46EN&mr:trackingCode=8DF0D5A8-E881-DE11-B712-001422107090&mr:referralID=NA
