Ghost is advertised as hard to see underwater but IMO it's easier to see than green. It is made of the same fibers as any other color so it's not a special translucent material. It's good line as far as performance though. I prefer hi vis Power Pro 30lb with a flouro leader on spinning reels.
I bought it direct. Even though it was $24+ shipping it still came out cheaper than winning it for $20 on Ebay. I let you know when I get it installed.
Thanks, I thought about that but the problem is what do you do when the wind gets up and you don't have the thrust to pull through it. It would be a pain to carry a spare prop and change out when you need more thrust. I think I will order the PWM after I check the draw.
I started with a 6'6" MF Avid and found it to be too slow. I now use a 68MXF. The biggest thing that helped me fish a shakey head was going to yellow braid with e flouro leader. You would be amazed at how many fish move the line that you would never feel.
Thanks guys, that MK Maximizer is more than I care to spend but the PWM is about right. I haven't tested it yet but I can't imagine my TM pulling over 30A.
I have a 16' aluminum boat with an old Johnson 3 speed 12V TM. I like to troll for crappie and the low speed is way too fast. Does anyone know of a way to make it variable speed?
I had DVT tune a Curado E and Citca E about a month ago and am very impressed with it. I haven't used the Citica much but the Curado is awesome. I use it to throw very light t-rigs and it cast a mile. The amazing part to me is casting into the wind is much easier with no backlash. The upgraded drag is pretty cool too.
Wash the engine thoroughly.then squeeze the bulb and watch for leaks. The zip ties on the fuel lines get weak over time and can leak. If you can find the leak and bothers you bad enough you can always pull the fuel line loose when you put it on the trailer and run the gas out it.
Shakey head, spinnerbait, dropshot, carolina rig, jerkbait, crankbait, wacky worm, float n fly, swimbait, spoon, blades. I'm sure there are others but these are the ones I use.
In my younger days I hooked a guy on a jet ski with a Rat-l-trap. I am pretty lucky I didn't get an aggravated assault charge for it. I have a lot less tick and vinegar these days and just ignore them or leave.
How many of us have hooked into something that just breaks the line or spits the lure without slowing down? Who's to say one of those isn't a big bass. I would bet there has been a world record hooked that the angler never even got to see before it was gone. Regardless it's the hope of that one good hook up that keeps us coming back.
I wanted to relay my DVT experience. I have read all the glowing reviews on BR but like most stuff I see online was skeptical. A buddy in our bass club was telling me he sent a reel in last year and what great work Mike did. I sent him a Citica E and Curado E that really had nothing wrong other than needing to be cleaned. He super tuned both, changed the drag, and had them back me in less than a week. The price was very reasonable and the work was top notch. My Curado is now smoother and free spools better than my Chronarchs or my Core. I will be sending several more reels in once our tournament season ends next month. Thanks Mike
A lot of jerk baits like the ratting rogue and pointers have a couple balls inside them. The balls roll to the head in the water and give that nose down attitude. When you cast they should roll to the tail and the bait should fly tail first. It takes a slower steady motion to make the balls stay in the tail. It's like the difference of throwing football with a tight spiral vs. throwing it sideways.
I also think 15lb line is too heavy.
I like finding fish and then moving past them casting back to the school. I jig and reel the bait back. I catch more than vertically jigging. I do foul hook a lot though. My favorite spoon is the Cabela's Real Image glow spoon with a feathered treble hook.
I use the same tungsten worm weights I use for t-rigs. I use 3/8-1/2 oz depending on depth. I use a carolina keeper and glass bead. I found tungsten breaks the plastic beads when bouncing off rocks..
I have a good friend that bought one last year and I have been impressed by it. It has good storage and rides very good for an aluminum boat. They are a little pricey though.
