  1. I throw weightless super fluke jrs on mine without issue. The right rod is the key to throwing the light stuff.
  2. IMO it's not wise to go in debt for anything that depreciates. Save your money until you can buy what you want.
  3. Once you fill the reservoir and cycle it several times the air is out of the lines and cylinder. If it's still bleeding down you probably have bad seals.
  4. The company I work for has a fleet of Ford diesels and they are having a lot of problems with the 6.7 trucks. Out of about 50 trucks over half have had some type of issue that required towing at less than 100K miles. The old 7.3s are still going strong though.
  5. What model Merc is it? $300 is more than any I have ever bought. I would repair the one on it at that price.
  6. That is without a doubt a large spotted mouth bass.
  7. It could be the cable pulled out of the rack or the pinion gear spinning on its threads. The gear threads on and has a set screw that can come loose and let it spin.
  8. Me too. I'm not really allowed to pick out, arrange, or criticize any decorations in HER house.
  9. X2. I was in a tourney several years ago where a guy's Triton trailer was stolen by pulling the pin and taking hitch and all. Since then everything gets locked.
  10. They are great boats. The XR4 is an OK motor but has mentioned they don't like the cold. If it doesn't already have one, buy or build yourself a deck extension. At $3K it should be worth it if everything checks out.
  11. I use a palmar knot. I only use swivels on c rigs and flukes.
  12. TMZ has pictures. http://www.tmz.com/2014/09/12/adrian-peterson-indicted-for-child-abuse/
  13. I have a Fisher aluminum that has a sticker instead of a plate and it's on the dash. I have considered putting a water pressure gauge in that spot.
  14. I completely understand I was the same way. After hearing horror stories of what local places did to some folks reels I decided to take a chance and ship them. Insure them for retail value and worst case you get all new ones.
  15. I know you said you don't want to ship them but I highly recommend Delaware Valley Tackle. He does excellent work at a fair price. I was really surprised at how quickly I got my reels back from him.
  16. I don't know of a site to send you to but cable steering is pretty simple. If the play is not in the pedal it's in the head at the rack and pinion. Take the 3 or 4 screws out that hold the cover on and watch it while you work the pedal. A common problem is the set screw that holds the pinion in place strips or losens letting the pinion spin on the threads a little.
  17. Actually the VRO will pump fuel even if there is no oil going through it so there's no need for a "fuel only" pump. It's actually 2 pumps but it looks like one unit. All you have to do it cut the wires for the low oil alarm, plug the oil line, and premix the gas. If you ever actually need a fuel pump later on you can get one for an 88HP SPL. It's the same power head and didn't have oil injection. I'm sorry it happened to you but consider it a hard lesson learned and find a good mechanic.
  18. Did he ask if you wanted to remove the VRO and premix your gas? Most mechanics I know recommend removing the VRO because the pumps are so expensive. It's a lot of money to put in an 18 year old motor.
  19. Goodfellas.
  20. Another vote for the DX. I have a 744, 745, and 784ML. The 784 is the best jig rod I've fished.
  21. I have a couple Solas props that have served me well. Like Mr_Scrogg said, I would try to repair the Spitfire first.
  22. Wow all this time I thought I paid for my lake house by going to college at night, working 12 hour shifts at a plastic wrap plant to pay for school, working 60-80 hour weeks for 20 years after college, saving every penny I could, and not going into debt for anything I could live without. I never knew it was just dumb luck. Thanks for setting me straight.

  24. As hot as it gets down here in the summer I would think that would attract fishermen rather than repel them.
  25. There is nothing wrong with rivets. Yes they can loosen under a lot of flex but welds can crack too. Find a good used one. I do highly recommend at least a 48" bottom if you stand up to fish.
