  1. I am planning a night fishing trip using a black light and thought that it would be cool if my fluoro was flourescent so I could use it with my black light. I saw the Stren fluoro in fluorescent blue. It would be nice to have the no stretch, sensitive fluoro properties with a hi vis line...at least above the water or at night. Anyone use this? good....bad?
  2. dont forget about the action. If you are going with a MH I would go with an x-fast tip; on the heavy action i would go fast. I just bought a St. Croix legend and I found the MH/fast tip to be al little mushy for my liking to pitch jigs.....the pitching part was fine it was the setting the hook that I did not like. I traded up to the Heavy/fast tip, I like it much better.
  3. Can you get a little better pictures. It is real hard to see what the problem is.
  4. I am sure this question has been answered more than once on this post....so I will apologize up front. What knot do I use to add a mono leader to braid? Do I use the same knot for fluoro?
  5. Head up to Lincoln Lake in Troy MO. If you make the trip I dont think you will be dissappointed. You will catch a ton of fish but I have yet to catch anything of any size.
  6. I am not a big fan of a telescopic rod.....no reason. I am leaning towards the MHXF....i am going through St. Croix to swap it out. I was hoping that someone who owns this rod could chime in and let me know what they think.
  7. I just purchased a LT rod in the LTBC70MHF action and I was not happy with the action when I fished it with a jig. I am going to trade it in for another model and would like to get some feedback on my choices. I am thinking of the LTBC70MHXF or the LTBC70HF. I am wanting this rod to primarily fish a jig but also something that will serve my worm and c-rig needs. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Google "200 Missouri Smallmouth Adventures" this is a book that if you live in MO and love to catch smallies...its a must have. Detailed maps, access points, distance between pools and fishing reports. I bought it a couple years ago, I think it was pretty cheap...well worth it
  9. I usually respool about once a month. I never remove all the line, I usually pull off about 75-100 yards, tie onto my older line and fill from there. On my flipping outfit, I will pull much less off. You can get 2-3 refills on a spool of line. For my braid, this will last me all season long. Since I use it for special applications (jigging in dirty water and froggin) I do not put as many miles on this stuff.
  10. Corn, small hooks and fluorocarbon line and a slip sinker. If the fish feels any resistance you will never catch them. Carp are some of the hardest fish to catch....very finicky!!
  11. Any chance that you would share the pattern you were using. Mark Twain is one of my favorite lakes....it has kicked my butt many times!! But I have also had some of my best days fishing on that lake as well.
  12. Wow! great information, I appreciate it!
  13. which lodge did you go to? I am not aware of any place on the Big Piney that rents canoes. Were there alot of floaters??? they are a perfect way to ruin a fishing trip on a river.
  14. This may be a stupid question...but I will ask anyway.... I believe the issue is the higher water content in ethanol....right. If you put stabil in your tank at every filling.....where does the water go? If it causes it to separate from the gas would you not have a layer of gas that has an extremely high water to gas ratio? Possibly cause severe problems if you ran your tank to the point of being almost empty? What is StarTron
  15. I own a AVS68MXF...awesome rod, perfect for drop shot and shaky head. Stout enough to fish med -lt texas rig. MADE IN AMERICA!!!!!
  16. I am looking to buy a new/used boat within the next 6 months and am seriously considering going with a 4 stroke motor. Is it true that the gasoline (ethanol) issues are non existant in the 4 stroke. What are the pros and cons?
