  1. I have this question on swim baits, seen so many fishing people using them. My question is how many segments on a swim bait and what is the best size and color/ style like brim or shad etc. I live in upper end of NC and only fish smaller lakes and ponds!
  2. I just bought 2 of them, waiting for them to come in! So haven't used them but will give them a hard run time!
  3. I had a 70 # Bow Mount Minn Kota Edge and this was a 24v and wiring this is very weird! The wires are - to + then + to - then use a amp connector for the batteries with this I used a plug in type which I use all the time. Now I also have a 55 # Minn Kota Edge Transom mount, when I bought it they just had bare wires and suggested that I put on a plug. To me I hated to use clamps because they come loose or fall off and may hit the other terminal which it really happened to me while I was duck hunting. Lucky that my battery area was not near the gas tank or my gun and shells. It had sparked and started a fire on board and had to use a fire extinguisher, after looking at the battery it was still operational and the one terminal that was arced had melted the terminal, so from that experience on that problem I use plugs after that! But I bought a boat that never was fixed to run a plug for the T/M and other equipment was used in the front. I had mounted a terminal switch for the T/M and bilged pump and other electrical but I used 8 GA wire for everything from batteries to switch. So in all in all please use the correct gauge wire and make sure of all connections and the items are grounded correctly also.
  4. I have found something similar to my old boat before I sold it. The best place I have found information is on 2 different web sites, {www.themarinedoctor.com } - { www.tinboats.com }. www.tinboats.net could be also. I had a fiberglass boat and noticed small holes on the keel. So I raised my boat 1 point at a time to have the whole boat lifted and place on floor jacks with wood blocks to support the boat. Well it worked and done the entire boat even the places the floor jacks was. But I have found that all the information out there was from those 2 websites. I hope this inforation helps you! Dennis
  5. Big A123, Smallies, if you want to catch them on rivers. Try the Dan River, Smith's River, Hyco River , Stauton River, Yadkin River, New River is the Best,Uwharrie River, Broad River. The Best Lakes are Bugs Island lake, James, W.Kerr Scott, Hickory,Rhodhiss, like others stated best chances for SmallMouth Bass is beyound Winston Salem, mainly the Foothills and the Mountain areas. Hope this helps out.
  6. Bassh8er Thanks for your response on this issue. I was just wondering about the rubber bands melting onto the lures. Another thing was that my tackle box was a Plano 747, I had put my spinnerbaits and the rubber skirt stuck/melted to crank bait lures. The reason I brought up the issue of the canoe is that I had to sell my bass boat and now just have the 2. That is a canoe and a Semi - V Grumman 1978, that the semi needs to have work. so I have to down size my load to carry on the canoe. So I'm trying to figure out the lures to put into a smaller tackle box. If anyone has ever had this issue I would gratefully accept your input. Oh by the way, Bassh8er I wasn't putting your idea down, just was wondering if you had the problem, in fact I really like it the way you had put all those lures and don't get tangled up! Keep safe on this Memorial Day and never forget those who never came back.
  7. Bassh8er, I like the idea you had about tying up the treble hooks on your lures. The only thing is rubber bands will dri rot or melt onto your crank baits. I had several lures that had rubber bands on and they just melted on the lures. So what I did is use twist ties from bread bags and other ties from things you buy in big boxes that can be cut down to extend the twist ties. Now what would you bring on a river and using a canoe and not a Bass boat? Then you have to make a special amount of lures to carry with you. I even had to cut down on rods I used to bring. I use to bring 14 rods & reels like half Baitcasters & SpinningReels. Now I only bring max. is 4 rods. I use to have a Bass Boat, but sold it and now only have a canoe and a semi V that needs repair.
  8. Well I bought my canoe that I always wanted but always eluded me for some reason. I got it for a steal $600.00+tax. It came with motor mount, 50' cord anchord. Bought a canoe seat from Gander Mountain for $39.00+tax free shipping. Oh the canoe is a Radisson 12' long weight 34 pounds, 38"wide with 3 keels, Birch Bark in color and has 2 sponsons 1 1 on each side for balance and 5220 marine aluminum 2 ply but in between sheets is foam for floatation and sound proofing the flooring.
  9. I sold my pontoon for $650.00 with T/M, Depth finder and 2 padded seats. I went and bought me my dream canoe, Radisson 12' X 38" wide 34Lbs. came with 2 oars/paddles and motor mount amd 50' of anchor rope. On the bow,top deck of the canoe is a hole and it made for if I wanted to put in a MAST for sailing. I got all this for $600.00 + tax . I'll miss the pontoon a little but for getting into tight spots nothing like a canoe.
  10. When I lived in NJ, anything that is manual power like canoe, kayak, Jon and paddle boats didn't need registration. Now if you put a electric trolling motor on anything no matter the size it must be registered. I had canoes, kayaks, Jon boat and Semi V boats and if they had motor registered. Someone not explaining the law to you up in Jersey. I was a Cop in Jersey and knew plenty of G.Wardens. If you have a 17' canoe it won't need to be registered only if you motorize it.
  11. [g]g]I like to find is information on rivers in Rockingham County, NC. I live in Eden which has 2 rivers runs through it that's the Dan & Smith. I'm familiar with Dan river 2 ramps but never fished them. As for the Smith never paddled and tried to fish it but no open area's to cast from. I just purchased a canoe, it is a Radisson 12' . So this is my problem have never fished for smallies during the spring spawning season. I have fished for LM Bass during spawning and had good luck on lakes, but like to try rivers. Any help with this, such as lures, presentation, and of coarse colors and sizes. Thank You in advance Dennis
  12. I have to agree with all of them also you need to think about is when you get up in years your shoulders will get soar and then you have the back also. I fit in all those catagories, so I would say get the Electric start and the 5 extra horse power isn't worth putting my out of commitition for week or 2 just have little more HP.
  13. The best idea I can give you is that go to {www.tinboats.net } also you can check out { www.themarinedoctor.com } you can also check out YouTube and type in rebuild fiberglass crawdad boat or convert boats. Once you get the boat floor and seats removed, flip the boat over and check the hull for cracks and any type of fracture in the bottom and check the transom for flexablity. Good luck, when you go to Tin Boats & Marine Doctor you will have to join up, it's free. Check out other photos of the finished products.
  14. I have a Pelican 10E Bass Hunter. I made my own cart for totting my boat with all gear and battery, motor, seats(cushion) anchor and all my rods and tackle boxes. I'm actually going to sell it due to back problems. So if anyone knows someone who wants a boat that was never used yet check out the ad in Ebay classifieds of Greensboro, NC and it is #3261800 under Boats. But Here is some photos of the totter. Hope this helps you about the trailer totter, it's made from the bottom of a lawn mower cart and plywood and straps and bungy straps.
