  1. I am addicted to finding deal on fishing gear. My way of getting back at the bait monkey I guess. I have found some awesome deals in my days like quantum pt energy rods for $25, pflueger asaro for $50 and a pflueger president BC for $60. Even found a metatanium on the cheap while here on a previous trip. But I have trumped them all on my latest trip to Japan. I bought a daiwa alphas custom finesse nib for $130. I can't wait to get back home and try it out. I am tired of air fishing in my hotel room. I also got a point (Japan's bps )( http://www.point-i.jp ) original reel ( much like bps's PQ) for $36 used in good condition. This thing has carbon fiber handle ,cork knobs, and light weight spool plus a really cool dual braking system (similar but different than the us dual braking systems I have seen). For $166 I am bringing home 2 JDM reels that will get a immediate permanent seat on my rods.
  2. I hope ohio state wins and fsu win so they can play in the nc. A no SEC championship would be great. After fsu destroys ohio state for the ns we can start an ACC ACC ACC thread.
  3. I have the 7'2 mh crankbaits model that I use for deep crank baits. Awesome rod for me. I love it. Have seriously considered getting rid of my vendettas and replace with these.
  4. I have the t3 mx (JDMmodel) I bought while in Japan a while back. It's a great reel. I love the twing system. I think the advantages in distance and accuracy are minimal gains but it palms better than any other reel I own. Probably do to the low pop up hood. The only thing I am on the fence about is the Ziaon carbon frame. It just has a graphite feel to it even though I know it is much stiffer and I will not have any problems with fighting fish. Guess I am just used to and a fan of aluminum framed reels. But At $125 it's a steal of a deal. May have to get one to compare to my mx model.
  5. I have both vendetta and ethos as well as veritas. Personally the ethos feels much more sensitive than the vendettas and on par with the veritas. I have contemplated selling my vendettas and just getting ethos rods but selling rods is a losing battle and is just not a viable option.
  6. I believe I read that the 30 ton rating was a IM7 however I have another rod that's rated IM8 and the veritas is much more sensitive. I wouldn't put to much emphasis on the rating as they vary between rod mfgs.
  7. Yes it is a sport. Merriam Webster dictionary defines it as such ( also specifically references fishing. ). But I do not believe you have to be an athlete to compete in this sport. Some people are some are not.
  8. Looks good although you may have problems with line spooling to one side. Maybe it's just the size spool you have on there but it doesn't look like any spool would be centered to the reel.
  9. I have the 7'2 mh for deep divers and am very pleased with the looks and performance of this rod. I bought it on sale on TW and for the price it can't be beat.
  10. We came in second. I will get more elaborate next year. Only had about 3 hrs to do this one
  11. The one I did for the wife for a contest at her work.
  12. It's hardly an anomaly. Many post by PQ owners here support what goose has said and reported on. Shimanos being the best is an opinion and that's all it is. Maybe you should consider doing a 5 year report on your chronarch and your post may have a little more credibility.
  13. The peace and traquility of being on or near the water. The excitement and anticipation of the catch. The sense of accomplishment you get when when you finally learn to skip that jig without having to cut out a spool of line , or that the research into a body of water paid off with a high plac finish in a tournament. Really just anything you work on that finally pays off. If I ever wonder why I am doing something in fishing I can always attribute it to one of these three things.
  14. Great report as always goose. I would also like to add that the use you have put this reel through would be in my eyes extreme. I would be hard pressed to say ANY $100.00 reel put throughout his kind of use would have zero problems. I have several pq's (most over 5 years old) and they still work great with no replaced parts. I also only fish with them about 1/4 of the time you have used this one. Thanks for keeping up with this for 4 years!
  15. I would guess that having a twist in the wire would be more difficult to get the arm straight with the body causing the bait to perform poorly.
  16. Perception pescador above seems to be a good yak for the price. It will probably be my next one. Currently I have the old town vapor10 and love it for my river fishing. I have never tipped it and I am not a small guy. I would suggest it without hesitation.
  17. I agree. Clemson flat out got schooled on the field. Hope they can come back and prove they deserve their #9 ranking. If they continue to play the way they did though they will fall fast. FSU was really impressive. If FSU wins the NC do we get to claim it since we are in the ACC?
  18. FSU is gonna get the shaft cause they have only one ranked opponent left to play.? ( i think) I believe if Florida held up better their schedule ranking would improve. I personally think they deserve the #2 ranking because AT THIS POINT in the season I believe their is only one team that could beat them and that's the #1 team. Winston the real deal and can't wait to see how he progresses as a sophomore and junior.
  19. I think I can chant the same thing for Clemson.
  20. Probably the best value rod you will find. Do a little quality control in the store and you will get a rod that will give 100-125 rod a run for their money.
  21. I have 3 I've used for about a year and have zero issues. Great rod at a great price.
  22. The spots that actually hold fish
  23. Only 2 undefeated sec teams left. Only one probably has a real chance of staying undefeated. A one loss sec team will not go to the NC if there are 2 other undefeated teams in other conferences. Personally I would rather see a clemson/fsu vs Oregon matchup. That would have the potential for some serious fireworks.
  24. Been fishing with abu rods (veritas and vendetta) for almost 2 years now and never had a problem with em. Even fish on a consistent basis with the very first vendetta I bought. abu makes good products and they stand behind them. A split along the rod could be many things including being stepped on. Always inspects rods before buying them and it reduces the chance for a bad one. Heck it could have happened at the tackle store before you ever touched the rod, but there's always a chance for a bad one with any manufacturer.
  25. I usually end up coming down with the " well I can get the same thing at another store for cheaper" syndrome.
