  1. I'll have to give the nod to CATT for behavior and overall knowledge of the species... Raul on lures and the way their action or lack there of relates to catching bass, and gotta go with Fish Chris for ability to catch fish based on the pictures he has posted. I will say i have to give the "newbie" nod( a member less than a year) to Sean W. He has had some interesting points and seems to know his stuff. And for the Youngsters (under 18) BASSclary. Even if some of his post are controversial, at least he has offered his opinions and he is definitely learning something by being on this site .
  2. Fixed it for ya. ;D Someones bob must have over heated. Great Fix!!!!!...and @ the BoB
  3. Any new info on this???
  4. I used a 10" zoom ole monster to bag a 4 pounder out of a pond i fish. Big worms and soft plastics are always a good place to start.
  5. To me ithe reel sounds perfectly normal, actually I can fish at night and know pretty much how far the bait has traveled and when to thumb just by the sound of the spool spinning. Yea i noticed that after a while i could pretty much tell when the lure was about to hit the water by the sound. Just a good by-product i guess. I love to hear that whirring sound. It is one of those noises that I associate with the bliss that is bass fishing. And "yes" I use Quantums. And "no" they are not in need of lubrication. I found that the noise is somewhat dependent on how the mag brake is set. More brake = more whir. Awesome i never thought of it being the brake system.. I always assumed it was the bearings or something else.
  6. nope never used fluoro for top water. Seems to expensive and you lose a quality of fluoro that makes it stand out ...its invisibility under water....mono only on top waters for me..
  7. jigs......and i'm gonna try the Slider too,...
  8. MH= Single hook baits M= treble hook baits
  9. Sweet catches!!! looks like i need to move to Spain.
  10. Wow what is this lets all gang up on the ninja day?? ;D ;D J/K i know what your points are. Ok Alpster first: I understand your point it is just another technique to use and the more techniques you have in your arsenal the better fisher man you are. And IYO it is a good technique....for me its way to boring to participate fishing that way. Now Raul: So your gonna promise and guarantee that if someone goes out fishing and dead sticks they are gonna catch a fish?? I don't think so.. You can be skunked just as easy dead sticking as you can by chunkin and windin. Its just two different ways of fishing and everybody has there preference. Now RW: Yes KVD did win the classic by fishing to one spot BUT he certainly was dead sticking his Red eye shad. He was chucking it to a certain spot as many times as he could in order to get as many bites as possible.. Do you think he would have won that classic if he deadsticked a worm for 10-20 min in that spot?? again i don't think he would have. I hope i'm not offending anyone with my replies i'm justy tryin to give my opinion just like you guys
  11. Well the rush is percentages. Chunk and wind you could probably get 30 maybe 40 cast in that 10 min. time period. I would venture to say that the percentages will be on your side if you hit 30 different spots rather than let your lure sit in one spot that may or may not be holding a fish. JMO
  12. Do what Raul says and you can have as many as you want
  13. Ehh not real sad or unexpected...He had his chance and couldn't do anything with it. My guess is Michigan is gonna try for Jim Harbaugh
  14. Fish is a comic..either you like his comedy or you don't. Me personally , i don't like it. Not many comedians are also fishing personalities and it takes a special breed to actually pull it off. Charlie Moore---fail, Fish Fishbourne----fail..Mark Zona is the only fishing tv personality that has pulled of the comedy IMO.
  15. Its a good plan and i definitely understand where you are coming from as far as simplifying your choices, but i would consider using 3 different colors instead of one and the million that are out there. My 3 choices would be 1. Green pumpkin (you nailed that one on the head) 2. Black w/ blue flake ( a must have color) 3. contrasting color bait of your liking( for me its pumpkin seed w/ chartreuse tail).
  16. I have 2 rod for pitchin, one's a 6'6 h (bought by mistake but actually turned out well) it is used solely for short range pitchin and in areas that a longer rod may be a hindrance. I also have a 7'6 rod (that i bought after the 6'6) that is of primary use for pitchin. The way to look at it is, a long rod can do everything a short rod can do but maybe not as efficiently, however a short rod cannot do everything a long rod can do (i.e. make a 35' pitch). So if you are gonna go with just one rod i would start with the longer one.
  17. LoL probably doesn't make a sound he looks like the silent but deadly type to me ;D
  18. Quantums are noisy on the cast....Is your reel a Quantum? I have nothing against them but I have two and a buddy has a few blue Tours, all noisy on the cast. Yes one of them is. This ^ From a performance stand point it doesn't matter. I was just asking if i am the only one who actually likes to hear that sound when i cast. If ya don't, ya don't ,if you do, you do, its a simple question really This ^
  19. I guess I'm a little confused by this question...I would prefer no sound, but if it doesnt have to do with anything internal I am fine with it. You just answered the question from your point of view. I prefer to hear the sound. That's all i was asking.
  20. From a performance stand point it doesn't matter. I was just asking if i am the only one who actually likes to hear that sound when i cast. If ya don't, ya don't ,if you do, you do, its a simple question really
  21. OK a whirr it is then. ;D ...and I'm not trying to get rid of the sound, i actually like it. I definitely know its not from cleaning it or lube cause i do that at least once a year and mine still whirr( ;D) they have since i bought them. I've noticed it mostly on KVD's stuff but also some others while watching fishing shows.
  22. Ahh i see....yea its right after the underwater scene. when he actually cast. So back to the original question..I take it you are not a fan of noise when casting?
  23. Ummm..I gonna have to disagree with ya there. 1.) if it was the bait you wouldn't be able to hear the sound for as long as you do in the video. 2.) I own red eye shads and have never heard them make that kind of a sound...ever. 3.) i have reels that sound exactly that way no matter what i throw. And yes i do maintain and lube them.
  24. Does anyone else like having there reel buzz when casting. I don't know why but for some reason i like to put a sound to the action i doing. Anyone else like to have this when casting? Here's the sound i am talking about listen at around 1:35 when he cast
