  1. I leave 2-3 centrifical brakes on depending on the rod and lure. Most times the mag brakes are on 2. On the water i will only adjust the mag brakes as taking the side plate off for the cent brakes takes precious seconds off the clock.
  2. I'm one of those too! Maybe we can get the other 7 members to chime in! As far as those that have opinions on LMG all I can say is that I had the pleasure of meeting him in person and he was one of the nicest , well mannered people I have met in person on this forum and I will leave it at that.
  3. Academys H2o ethos. Best bang for the buck rod IMO. Quality components IM8 blank and retails for $60. Catch em on sale and you can get em for $40. Has served me very well for over a year.
  4. I use this a lot with a white fluke. Works great especially for bedding fish
  5. I have no input from the bionic but the lighting rod is a very good rod for the money. The vendetta and veritas are also good rods. I would Polly lean towards the veritas for $20 over the vendetta. The original h2o ethos rod is the only rod I would pay full retail for anymore. It just can't be beat for $60 The above mentioned quantum response is a good choice also. I have the 2 piece model which might be a good choice for traveling. After you are done you would have a good rod for the car or truck.
  6. Well that make since. I haven't been able to find them anywhere so now I know why. Curious about the glass and nylon frame. I imagine it would be a lot like graphite frames.
  7. I saw him using this on the latest episode of bass pros. After looking several places finally found some info: These new 10 ball bearing casting reels feature a removable spool, a smooth and powerful drag and lightweight EVA handles for comfort and fatigue reduction. The new reel also looks as good as it performs with its custom turquoise crackle finish that complements the Rick Clunn series rods perfectly. Key Features: • Weighs 6.9 oz • 6.3:1 gear ratio • Line retrieve per crank (in.) – 23 inches • Line capacity 120 yds of 12 lb. • Nylon & glass frame for durability and weight reduction. • 10 stainless steel ball bearings – 9 + 1 design • Quick access side plate & removable aluminum spool • Magnetic anti-backlash braking system • Powerful, smooth graphite drag system • Precision cut brass gears • Aluminum handle and lightweight EVA paddle • Available in right & left hand retrieve What intrigued me was the nylon and glass frame?. Anyone had a chance to look or hold these yet?
  8. Probably not supposed to match but my bps pq looks awfully nice mounted on my academy h2o ethos rod. Silver and blue can't go wrong with that!
  9. Defoe is takin home the trophy. He's won rookie of the year his first year and placed 2 nd for angler of year for his second. He is due for a big win and the man flat out fish any type of water.
  10. Paging Dr. LMG... Dr. LMG we have a patient in ICU with shimanoitis. Please report to the ER for shimurgery stat!!
  11. I have been looking also. The damiki 2 piece looked really good. I find it hard to buy a rod that I can't hold however. I bought a tournament classic 7' fiberglass rod from academy for $14.95 to use for treble lures. It works great for that. Not a great worm rod though so I needed a graphite. I settled on the quantum response 7' and couldn't be happier. It's got Eva split grips and micro guides. Defiantly worth a look.
  12. Ole and Lars who worked together were both laid off, so off they were to the unemployment office. Asked his occupation, Ole said, "Panty stitcher. I sew the elastic onto cotton panties." The clerk looked up panty stitcher. Finding it classified as unskilled labor, she gave Ole $300 a week unemployment pay. Lars was asked his occupation. "Diesel fitter," he replied. Since diesel fitters was a skilled job the clerk gave him $600 a week. When Ole finds out he is furious. He stormed back to find out why Lars, his friend and co-worker was collecting double his pay. The clerk explained, "Panty stitchers were unskilled and diesel fitters were skilled labor." "What skill?" yelled Ole. "I sew the elastic on. He pulls on it and says, 'Yep, diesel fitter.'"
  13. Perfectly said. I'm part of that brand posse myself!
  14. Yea mines that way too..... I would like to think its the flash but I had them before and never had a problem with the ipad or iPhone
  15. I'm left handed and both spinning and bait casting I reel from the right side. Luckily for me when I got into bait casting I didn't know about left retrieve and the right just felt more natural. Plus I like having control of the rod with my dominate hand regardless of outfit type.
  16. Wow lake Johnson. I haven't heard that name in a loooooooonnnggg time. That was the first lake I ever fished probably 30 years ago. Wish I had some info for ya but I moved away a long time ago. Thanks for the nostalgia trip though!
  17. I have 2 pfluegers ( medalist and trion). Both work great. Pflueger makes a good spinning reel. I also have a Daiwa exceler. Good reel! It is really smooth and well built. But my most favorite is the pq spinning. I love the wide spool design. I'm sure it's the same as a pflueger arbor. And they have the extreme spinning on sale for 39.99. Seems like a great value
  18. Yes you did my friend, and you are the biggest shimanho I know. ...lol
  19. I will listen to a pros opinion IF he will actually use the product in competition. That's how you know If they believe in the product is if they trust it with their livelihood. I don't listen to product hoes that will put their name on anything that a mfg spits out.
  20. Quantum escalade. My first jump up the 80-100 class reels. Bad mistake. It is the only reel that I have had actually break on me. After that one I went to pq and pfluger. No problems since. And I will say that every time I think of buying a quantum the image of that reel pops in my head and I just walk away.
  21. Private pond brother. It takes all of about 15 min to cover the whole pond by shore and certainly no bass boat will ever go there. It does hold some good fish however. Not nearly as much fun as we had runnin around haulin in water....lol. Of course you did get 3 or 4 didn't you?
  22. Me and the Misses me and another girl i like to hang out with (but not nearly as much)
  23. Yea I guess iPhone emoji don't show up so well..haha On a separate note curiosity got the best of me so I headed to academy to check these out and see If they had and specials going on. The blank is the same as the older ones. The micro guides were lined up straight on the 2 I held ( which is more than i can say for the vendetta 2 that i scoped out) and the blank was not deformed or bent at all. The reel seat seems like the exact same one that comes on the older one just in a 2 piece. The Eva grip is a little bulky for my liking but not a deal breaker. . I would say it a little bigger in diameter than what come on the vendetta series from Abu. Overall the rod felt good. If larger Eva grips and micro guides is what you like then this seems like it would be a great rod. I will be getting one in the near future I'm sure one big plus from the trip was scoring some h2o 3/4oz spinnerbaits for $.88 and yes I did buy everyone they had...lol.
  24. If the blank is the same as the original ethos line then it's a good one. I have the the original version and it has been a great rod. Lightweight and dutiable. These new micro series look really good and I'm sure I will end up owning one or ten.
