  1. For line I would start out with some 12 lb Big Game Mono.
  2. Is it me or is the newer version of Pflueger President spinning reels not as good as the older ones with the wooden knobs. They just don’t seem as smooth and feel like there cheaper made. I had an older one but gave it to a friend. So I bought a newer one. Man I think I made a mistake. Might have to find a used one.
  3. Looking to purchase a Daiwa baitcaster. Looking around the $200-250 range. Want an all around reel. I am not new to baitcasting reels but want to try a Daiwa. Most of my other reels are Lews and Shimano. Any help would be appreciated. There’s just so many Tatulas to choose from. Michael
  4. Just an update to my post. I ended up buying some 15 lb Seaguar Tatsu. The line diameter is the same as 12 lb Yu Zuri Hybrid. As everyone said there was a little bit of a relearning curve but all is good. Thanks to everyone for giving me some input and suggestions. Next up is trying braid on my top water setup. Thanks again. Michael
  5. The reason for wanting to change is just that. Looking for a change. The water I fish is more on the clear side. Also looking for a little more sensitivity if that makes sense.
  6. Yes. This would be on a baitcaster.
  7. Looking to switch from mono to fluorocarbon. Thinking of Seaguar Invisx or Sunline Super Sniper FC. Looking for pros and cons of each from people that use them. Easy handling, stretch, strength, and castability. I use 12 lb Yu Zuri Hybrid now which is fine for strength but it has a lot of stretch which I know is major con to mono. Thanks for your help. Michael
  8. Just a follow up to my post. After a recent trip to Bass Pro the truth comes out. My son wants my reel bad. I decided to keep it and just buy him his own. Looking at spending around $150.00. He really liked the Lews Tournament Pro MP. I will admit it was super smooth. And I liked the fact it had 2 braking controls. Just looking at opinions on this reel. He also liked the Lews KVD. But I think just because he liked the red. Thanks again for your input. And yes I will give him my “Green Beast” in a couple years when he turns 21. Just not ready for a new reel. If it aren’t broke don’t fix it. ??
  9. How about the SLX-DC. Anybody with experience with that one compared to my E7. Was looking at videos on it but didn’t know if it would be a step down instead of an upgrade. I like the concept of the DC but thinking about trying it out on the SLX vs the Curado. The more I look on the web the more I change my mind. Thanks again. Michael
  10. Looking at getting a new Curado. Right now I use the Curado 200e7. The green beast. That’s what my son calls it. He wants to get me a new reel. I think he just wants my green beast. Anyways wanting to know what new version would be a good replacement. It will be a do it all reel. I didn’t realize there where so many models nowadays. Thanks for the help. Michael.
  11. Just wanted to know opinions on Duckett rods. I have heard from people around me they are great. Also some say they are junk rods that snap when setting the hook. Just looking for thought and opinions. Thanks, Mike
  12. Just a follow up to my original post. I ended up getting a 7’2” Shimano Zodias in Med Heavy. Little over my $200.00 price point but it just felt that d**n good in hand. Hopefully if all goes well it will be getting a workout this weekend. Mike
  13. Looking to buy a good all around baitcaser rod. My budget is $200.00 little more little less. Any suggestions on brand and rod. Thinking medium heavy in 7 foot. I fish everything from jigs to cranks to spinnerbaits and some top water. Been watching a lot of YouTube videos but hard to get an unbiased review. My reel to pair with the rod is a Shimano Curado 200e7. Thanks for all the suggestions. Mike
  14. I am looking to get a new spinning reel this year. 1-Quantum PTI-B Tour Edition for $129.00 (Last years model) 2-Shimano Saros $129.00 Of the two which would you all choose and why? Thanks, Mike
  15. I am looking for a new spinning reel for around 150.00. I am looking at the Shimano Static 2500 FI or the newer Quantum Energy PT 30. What do you guys all think. Mike
