  1. Adjustment is relatively easy assuming nothing is frozen: adjustment is made by turning the clevis in or out on the threaded rod to desired location. Throttle should be adjusted to low point and shift to neutral. Idle should be 500-700 rpm which is adjusted with a set screw.
  2. It is not legal to camp at the SM Ramp area.
  3. I've had the same problem. The only solution I found was to remove the base plate from the deck. This involved cutting the carpet to get at the mounting bolts/screws, then banging the base off the post which I secured in a vise. If you are careful with the carpet it glues back in place and can be barely seen. No amount of penetrating oil worked for me, and heating it enough was out of the question.
  4. Depending on how bent it is will determine if the slot in the prop is damaged. The only way of removal is to pry it off. I did two props last year and both were shot.
  5. The closest is Sebastian. The two motels on Malabar are dumps: (Best Western and Motel 6). On Palm Bay rd. is the Jamison which is good. SM Bait & Tackle is not renting the room. The place is under new ownership and they have leased the room out, but you can get a hair-do there.
  6. Ritz Camera, the owner of Boaters World, filed for chapter 11 bankrupcy protection in February, and the closing of all Boaters World is part of their restructuring plan.

  8. Two ponds connected by a flow weir sharing the same water can produce drastic differences. An example of this can be seen here with Stickmarsh/Farm 13 compared to Ansin/Garcia. One lake produces many fish in the 10+ range, while the other only a few. They share the exact same water. These lakes are side by side and are connected by a spillway. Out of the SW corner of the Stick Marsh is Blue Cypress lakes which produces not only smaller bass, but also far less than either of the other two lakes. Blue Cypress is a stones throw from both Stick Marsh and Ansin. Three lakes all part of the same system, with vastly different findings. There have been many studies looking at growth as it relates to age but the variables make the studies totally inconclusive. Growth as it relates to age will differ from one body of water to the next. Further, it is not needed to kill fish to do this study. When a study of this type takes place you will find the biologist scratching his/her head as to why. If and when the why is discovered then you might see more lakes producing both numbers and size. Some of the variables: Forage - Predation - Water quality - length of growing season (5 miles of separation in lakes can have large differences in seasonal periods). The original post did state that the biologist was looking for one of each type.
  9. There would be absolutly nothing gained with one fish sampled.
  10. Measuring a LM Bass: http://www.myfwc.com/RECREATION/FW_Fish_Measurements.htm
  11. Missed fish for his fishing partner was a real monster. It's tough working that wood, both on boat and body, but well worth it right now. However Tpayneful got to the location and threw the bait needed to have a fantastic trip. Here's another from the same area.
  12. You cannot judge the weight of a fish from a photo, no matter what system you devise or use.
  13. There are many types of marine plywood using different face woods. However, for a carpeted casting deck, doug fir filled and sanded one side will do the trick. Go to a lumber yard, (not Home Depot - Lowes), and explain what you are doing. They will fill the bill for you.
  14. The right place, at the right time, and the right bait get you the right fish.
  15. Food for thought: a good hookset is a function of speed more than power. You are not getting a good hookset. If you stop the fish from jumping you are missing a good part of the battle.
  16. If you have ever dreamed of big fish and lots of them, then you should be on the Stick Marsh right now.
  17. Tipping is not requirement for receiving excellent service. However, it is very much appreciated as it is saying to the guide: Good Job and thanks for a great time. I hear stories from all over about guides that post a tip requirement: not good! When I hire a guide as a fill-in as a second boat or because I am ill that guide receives full pay. No guide goes out and works for just tips. When I receive a tip, which is 99% of the time, I immediately buy my wife a candy bar. Most times tips are between 10 and 20%. My largest tip was an all-expense trip to Mexico by one of my regular, (4-5 times a month), customer.
  18. "loss of tackle etc, that's just the cost of doing business" wrong. "Does the guide own the guide service or is working for someone else? If he doesn't own the company then chances are that your tip is all he will make from the trip." wrong "If you tip him good, I almost guarantee he will take you places he doesn't take the cheap skate to." wrong There is no formula for guide trips. Do what you feel is right!
  19. Present temp in Sebastian. 36.6 °F Clear
  20. My experience puts Guest at the top of the list of performance.
  21. Wal-Mart: fiberglass repair kit - follow directions. Do not leave the glass bare as it will absorb water, get soft, and then serious problems. It's an easy fix.
  22. First: Right now I wouldn't pick Mexico - they are having serious problems down there. If I did pick a spot it would in one of the "All Inclusive" places on Cozumel. I would be looking further down in the eastern Carib.
  23. http://www.tomandjerrys.net/ They have been there longer than anyone that I know of.
  24. Certifying the catch is a process that will involve witnessing by a state biologist amongst other things. For an accurate answer for your state contact you state's DNR. For IGFA regulations for certification go to: http://www.igfa.org/
