  1. Strange as it may sound, I get the most bites on a weightless wacky, ussually a senco, but Robo worms have produced really well too. I think in shallow water a weightless worm seems more natural.
  2. My Son gave me a 6'6" mh spinng rod for Christmas, I mounted a Shimano reel and have caught several bass and trout with it...For the $$$ i think they are decent rods.
  3. In the past up to 1986 I used only Stren, since I've started fishin again, I've tried a few different lines including Vanish fluro..I just keep goin back to trilene xl both on my BC and spinning reels. I always use KVD line and reel conditioner too..
  4. Size of the reel..i.e. a 1500 is smaller than a 2500..I prefer the 4000 although I own a Shimano 2500 which holds about 160 yds of 10lb test
  5. Although I hate wally world, I do buy my Strike King spinner baits there, and have had great success with them. I also have every other makers spinner baits except LC's..to much $$$ Next to the strike king, the Booya seems to work best for me. You guys ever used the cheapo spinner baits from Sports Authority..?
  6. Thanks fella's Coldwaterbassin thanks, I figureded out just before your post.. :-[ I cleaned it all up and lubed as you suggested. I had a major problem with the braking, now it works great!!!! I'll be tryin it out tomorrow at Lake Skinner!! btw we fished there yesterday and had a decent day 8-) Thanks again Greg
  7. I caught the show last night after a long days fishing..Great show..way to go Russ....... 8-)
  8. I've taken the screws out, along with the drage ect. I press the button on the rightside (left handed crank) but I still can't get the reel apart. This reel was given to me, and I tried out yesterday and got a huge birdsnest :-[ By the looks of what I see it needs some lube too. We are fishing tomorrow so any quick help would be Much appreciated. Modle is ext10hlc
  9. Another roboworm fan...fished em every which way, and almost always catch bass with them. I think I have every color they make.. Any of you guys like the FX version..?
  10. Hmmm, I seem to recall a month ago when I hooked a 8lb trout on a rattle trap, dang thing tossed it right into my finger..lol They do catch alot of fish, and our case...humans too... ;D
  11. I just started fluke fishin, I've tried all the methods mentioned above and so far.Zilch!!...but I'ma gonna keep at it, just cuz I like fishin with em.
  12. I use triline xl on all my spinnin reels, from 3lb to 12 lb test..no problems. It also helps to use KVD's line conditioner too..
  13. Nice vid..thanks for the link Dave.. 8-)
  14. With air temps under 40 degrees, and water under 60..I've had good luck with worms, rigged every which way, texas, wacky, ect..Also I've caught a few on spinnerbaits, worked very slow with a couple of twitches every few turns..mine are also in the 1-3lb range.
  15. Just 2 of us...My son, and I..the wife isn't too keen on fishin, the last time she tried it was in 1985..Anyways, we mostly fish for bass, but sometimes I sneak a couple of days of crappie fishin in there..
  16. I agree, it's definitly one of the best bassin shows on t.v..Also his Dad Roland has a good show too, both are imho very informative.. 8-)
  17. Welcome aboard.. 8-)
  18. Ditto...can't go wrong with a Shimano..
  19. I heart spinnebaits... 8-)
  20. Tickets for "smoking"..? I just saw that they have designated areas for smokin...we have reverations on March 1st at DVL..and I'm a smoker...it's funny they also own Lake Skinner but there aren't any restrictions there.. : I wouldn't normally go there, but Son is treating me to a day there including renting their bass boat.. And ditto on what Mike said..
  21. I think it was March, or sometime around there in 1986. Piru lake in so.cal..I pitched a chartruse and white stike king spinner bait into a drop off and nailed a 5lb.6oz lmb. I plan on gettin a better fish this year..
  22. Sam, thanks...and I wish I had pic's to post for ya, but I don't The weather here has been on the chilly side and some rain, although my Son and I fished yesterday, caught 8 lmb and 1 trout..lol temps were about 38 degrees in the early morning..all the fish were under 3 lbs. but it still was a fun day. Hope you guys get some warm weather soon.. 8-)
  23. you could line it with 6 mil plastic, but if you keep the worms happy, i.e. add lots of goodies for them, they'll stay put. i use to grow roses, and the soil was kept alive with organics, the worms loved it..when it rained some of the beds flooded and I'd have a zillion worms all over the driveway..lol
  24. Boy, I feel lucky compared to some of you guys..at almost 61, only 3 things jhave changed for me with regards to fishin.. Twisted and curved spine (pinched nerve) means I can't sit or stand in one position very long, and my back hurts like hell after a days fishin. my castin hand (right) was broken 3 times from racing motorcycles and arthiritis is settin in so that hurts and my accuracy is off from years ago. :-/ Lastly, these old eyes ain't what they use to be, I'm due for caturact (sp) surgery this year, and even with my reading glasses, tyin a lure, or hook on takes forever.. Oh, and I still work in construction..lol
