  1. I'm not up on the current reels, I have looked at the discriptions on a few sites, but ya know how that goes, I'd like some Real world suggestions from you guys. I did look at the Pflugers on TW, but noticed they aren't available in the lefty's..? Rell will be mainly used for plastics on a 6'6" Rick Clunn bps rod. I'd like a good casting reel, one that doesn't require lots of adjustmen, and in a low profile model. Brand isn't as important as quality, and feel. So...whatcha think..? BTW, if absolutly have to spend another 30.00 or so..that would be o.k.
  2. I would just add that, I prefer to use a bc in heavey cover, i.e. flippin, that's not to sat it can't be done with a spinning rig.
  3. The only problem is, at least here in Cali, is that Bass aren't stocked, while most other fish are, i.e. trout, catfish ect. He probably wasn't even fishing for bass, as in alot of cases they hook a nightcrawler on, hopeing to get a big catfish, and wind up taking a healthy Bass, and a good sized female at that...CPR always. Got my flame suit on, so fire away..
  4. That's my point..if you have sharp hooks, and use the proper technique, you don't need to slam em, i.e. whip the rod with all you have..As was said..reel down then set it with enough force to get the fish..Now if your in real deep water, then use more force. I see 200+# guys with broomsticks throwing all their body weight into a hookset, which IMHO there's no need for it...JMHO.
  5. Yozuri Hybrid Ultra Soft...no matter what's in the water.
  6. Except on dinks..I've seen the whole side of their mouth ripped apart, also it's easy to get em hooked in the eye from the backside..just thought I'd toss that in the mix..
  7. Re: spinning reels, I have to agree with Chris, as I used them for a long time too..no problems, both fresh, and salt.. If you do decide to go the BC route, I'd lean towards the MH, depending on the rod, my not so exspensive rods are mh with fast action, so far they've worked o.k. for me..It's really a personal thing which kind of rig you use, as any rig will catch fish, some will work better than others in a given situation.
  8. He seem to have a bit of trouble Lippin that smallie.. ;D Neat vid though.. 8-)
  9. I do, thst's why I bought a 7'6" rod, But I'd really like to find a reasonable priced (under 100.00) 8' rod. Being broke sucks.. :-[
  10. I really don't keep up on who buys/sells what, so could you enlighten me on who bought BPS..?
  11. I agree about the Clarus..I have one and like it, mines a m xf. Also, there are other rods in that price range..70.00-100.00 that you may want to check out..i.e. BPS ect. Or...you could try and find a good used rod.
  12. I use 8# on my shemano 2500..works great..you could go to 10# easily..your choice..
  13. AWESOME!!!!!!!!! Congratz...
  14. If there's fish, there's a way to catch em. Our local city park lakes are tough to fish, lots of pressure, very shallow water, and tons of moss, and algey..but I keep tryin, have caught a few fish, but none of the 6+ lb'rs in there. I don't have every kinda bait made, so I slowly add to my collection...Keep tryin..
  15. Awesome!!!!!!!!! your on a roll..
  16. I'll take 3.5's all day long...wtg Dock.. 8-)
  17. This should be moved to Important Subjects... So it Stays on the 1st page.. BTW...Thanks CATT! 8-)
  18. Also, you could toss a ds wacky rigged Senco, t rig a worm, and work it up and down the other side of a hump, up the side of a ledge..ect, same goes for tossin creatures, craws and such.
  19. Hammer 4

    PB!

Congratz!!!! those fish look like they eat real good! ;D
  20. Well, if you find out who tossed your stuff in the pond...calll the cops, they need to pay for that.
  21. If your seeing larger fish boil, or break the surface, it's likely the carp. Just out of curiosity, what baits have you used..?
  22. Well, here in so.cali, you cannot fish at any golf course, even the public tracks...I golfed for a few yrs, and saw some nice ponds, and just drooled...I do know guys that sneak onto courses to catch bass, I never have.
