  1. Welp, I watch some of the fishing show's..and yup I gott em on DVR so the commercials are a moot point. I try to do what's best, Not what the pro's do, or don't do..I lip my fish, maybe snap a quick pic and release him Gently into the water. On eof my pet pev's is seeing anyone, pro or otherwise horse a fish into the boat, and let it flop on the deck, in a net, or wherever...From what I understand, it's harmful to a fish to keep it outta water for more than 30 seconds, I try to have em unhooked and gone in 20 secs or less. BTW, I was a 5 hcp golfer..some of the tracks I plyed at, walking or carting couldn't be played in less than 4 hrs..
  2. Where I fish, and RW..I'm in So. Cali..anything from 3 lbs would be a good fish... WRB is on a whole nuther level..
  3. That about sums it up for me too..
  4. On spinnerbaits, and worms..channel cats and rainbow trout.. :
  5. I hear the bait monkey callin my name..lol
  6. CWB, save your $$$ re: the cocoons. I bought some 4 months ago, wore em twice and tossed them..got some strike king glasses at wally world. I have a RX for both distance, and reading, so I wind up taking my reading glasses with me so I can tie on my lures..lol So far I have worn my strike kings about 10 times..good deal for the $$$ can't afford the RX in polorized..almost 400.00.... :-[
  7. Should be noted that you can do the wacky thang..by either freelining, i.e. no weight, or a favorite way for me is to dropshot..wacky style..Freelining, I lift my rodtip on a couple of inches, every 15-30 seconds..when dropshoting, Always have contact with the bottom when you lift the rodtip up. That's not to say that you can't bring up the worm more than 2-3 inches, it's whatever works for you.
  8. haha, does a bear ...Yup, caught lots of fish with a wacky rig, I use mostly 5" Senco's, but have used 6" roboworms, Zoom Flukes, Zoom lizards..ect, ect. Hooks that I use are usually octopus 1/0 they are more compact than a worm hook..
  9. X 2..I'd buy a 201E5 yesterday.. I have one. ;D Bought the gears for a Citica and replaced them in one of my Curados. Now if they would just make a 201E5 I would be very happy. Later,
  10. Once while fishing a drop off during the fall, I tossed a jig out in about 15-18' of water..jig falls to the bottom, I then start talkin with my fishin buddy, all the while I have my index finger on the line (rods weren't as good imho in the early 80's) so were talkin and after about 2=3 mins. w/o ever twitchin, or working the jig..I reel up, after about 3 turns of my reel, I realize there's a 4lb Bass on the other end. He musta inhaled it, and just sat there. So ...bites can be different, as you've read here.
  11. Some of us (me) prefer to use our "spinning" rigs, i.e. for light lures like weightless plastic's, cranks, ect..Don't go out and buy a bc just cuz they look "cool"..get something that you can Catch fish with, and feel comfy using, everyone has their personal prefences.
  12. I have an older Extrem..cast's great, ect..I find that I need to adjust it more than my Shimano..but heck for the $$$ they are tought to beat. Just have it serviced when needed, and ya should be fine.
  13. If you can, cut em in 1/2..use4 them for tid bits... I shoulda said, cut the bad parts off..duh
  14. I don't have that many lures ect..Most of the time, I'll throw everything in my tacklebag..My twintail hula grubs get thrown the least.
  15. JJ's and Megastrike...I threw everything else in the trash.. ;D
  16. Feel the jig...be the jig.. ;D
  17. Selection is LIMITED, and on most fishing stuff, they aren't any cheaper than bps, turners, ect. Every now and then you can pick up certian items cheap...ain't worth the drive or long wait in line to save 2 bucks.. I'd much rather Support my local Tackle Shop..
  18. I have used my spinner baits like a jig..as long as there isn't a ton of weeds ect..it will produce fish. That's one thing I like about spinner baits, versitile... Never had any bites using them as a wakebait..
  19. I bought Franks Shara...1 word, for the $$$$ it's sweet. I now have 2 Shimano spinning reels..they don't disappoint.
  20. Got mine last week...gonna test it tomorrow.. On edit: the lake was Closed today.. > Will give it a go tomorrow, Wed...
  21. We will have to agree to disagree..i'd rather have a nice reel, but a better rod..weather it's right or wrong is any ones guess..imho Wrong. Start with a Shimano Stradic 2500 FI and any 6 1/2' - 7' Medium Power/ Fast Action rod. Reels are what makes fishing fun. On average, the cost of my rigs are 67- 75% reel/ 1/4 to 1/3 rod. 8-)
  22. No pic's...might check your account, or links.
  23. Do whatever is comfy for you...end of story.
  24. FishDontLikeMe...I did comment on that, I was trying to point out how important the thumb is overall.
  25. The most Important part of baitcasting is the use of your Thumb..train it, and the birdsnest's should all but go away. Oth, pro overruns still may occure..lol BTW, my Son throws weightless plastic's (sencos) all the time, his rig is a BPS Jonny Morris BC reel, and a Rick Clunn 7' mf rod.
