  1. Yup, he's for sure gonna need a bigger pool..
  2. I could care less what the pro's or anyone else chooses to call it. For me, Flippin is Flippin and Pitchin is just that, Pitchin.
  3. So, in the 90's there was an Etiquette both on the driving range as well as on the course. This seems to have gone out the window in the last couple of years. Noise is prevalent, people taking so loud I can hear them from 20 yards away. Mostly people Trying to teach a beginner how to hit a golf ball, yet 99% of these guys can't hit a drive more than 125 yards, and have No idea how to begin to teach the golf swing, but if you insist on trying, keep your dang voice Down. Then there's the people that pour a bucket of ball into their tray ( the plastic kind ) just when I'm at the top of my swing. And what is it, especially during this time with covid, people Coughing like crazy, yet Never bother to cover their mouth, very annoying. Then there's the guy or gal that brings family and or friends to the range, and when that person hits a decent shot, the whole group decides to cheer very loudly. This is not a contest or the family fun center. Some people actually come to work on their swing. I use to like going to the range, have many friends there, but lately it's getting to be a battle of the nerves. People just don't seem to care about anyone around them any longer. IMHO, there should be a set of common rules that everyone should have a copy of, After all, golf is a Quiet sport. Oh, and yep I've said something to those folks about the noise, they say, oh sorry, then 5 mins later, it's the same deal. Any of you golfing folks experience any of this ?
  4. I prefer the lightest rod, but more important is that it balanced.
  5. I carry at least 3 rigs, and depending on conditions, and the baits I want to toss I may take 3 baitcasters, or 2 baitcasters and 1 spinning rig. All my baits and terminal tackle go in my backpack. There are city park ponds/lakes that cover 3 or 4 miles, never bothered me, even when I'd take my 8' swimbait rig.
  6. Happy Fathers Day to all. Have a Great day !
  7. Not to be a smart a##, but we barley get into the 70's here on the coast of so. cali..and gusty winds to go with those temps..
  8. Mine has just a tiny bit of movement, it's hardly noticeable.
  9. I'm just gonna toss this out there for the heck of it. Most expensive reel I own is a Diawa Tatula 300, cost, $ 270.00 USD. Of my 7 reels (baitcasters) price ranges from 100 bucks on up, most are in the 100 to 150 dollar range. None of them have or had any issues, 6 are Diawa and 1 Shimano. When I bought reels 10 years ago, they were all Shimano, and all were made in Japan, they worked very well.
  10. From shore, and at anytime of the day or year, I'll throw a 1/2 oz spinnerbait, as I can cover a lot of water quickly. I 'll vary the speed and depth depending on conditions.
  11. Depending on the body of water, 100+ temps don't bother me, in fact, I fished a small club tourney at DVL, where it was 105, the heat was good to me, won a tad over $ 200.00 for 4 hrs of fishing.
  12. Learned my lesson when I had a Malamut years ago. Bought a bike with coaster brakes just so I could let here run for miles. Yup they have an unlimited supply of energy.
  13. Fishing from a Float Tube is pretty simple. I fished a Lot from one, both in the salt and fresh water. What's important , at least for me was, a quality tube, and a good pair of scuba fins. When you kick around 3 to 5 miles fins can make a huge difference, and I was doing this at 60 years of age. JFYI, I selected the Fat Fish Cat, great customer service, and very well made. Also, as far as rods are concerned, I've used rod from 6'8" up to my 8' swimbait rig.
  14. One thing that works well for me, when not much else works, is to pick up my m/f 7'1" spinning rig loaded with 8 lb mono, tie on a size 1 or 1/0 mosquito hook, and nose hook a 4" roboworm, most times the Hologram shad is what I use. Toss it out, let hot bottom, the slowly work it so it stays about a foot or 2 off the bottom. Works in any weather, and time of year. I forgot to mention I do this with a split shot about 12 to 15 inches from the hook. Size of the split shot depends on water depth.
  15. Those do look tasty..
  16. For stained water, 2 colors that seem to be "sleepers" are Hologram and Prizm shad both in 4 and 6" sizes.
  17. I fish a 4 acre pond regularly, and when I see people keep 6 and 7 lb+ bigger bass, it can pretty much degrade the bass fishing, as those are the females that will spawn. Seems like with all the economic problems, people are more than ever resorting to eating more fish that they catch. I have no problem with them keeping say 2 or 3 lb'rs, but even then if they take the lawful daily limit, well you can figure out that that 4 acre pond won't have many fish left after a period of time. Heck, even catching bluegill's have become harder nowadays. And BTW, they do not stock this pond.
  18. At $ 6.80 per gal of diesel, yeah, it has a bearing on where I drive. Being on a limited income and all.
  19. OP, I think I saw your ad on CL. Might want to check out the L.A. section also, just to expand your search. Good Luck.
  20. I have used the 2500 size Fuego for a couple of years now, great reel, don't feel the need for a 3000.
  21. No leaders here either. Spinnerbaits get tossed on mono.
  22. This is Chance, got him from the pound at 8 weeks. Had to rehome him, due to the home insurance doesn't allow for Pitties, was a clown, he hates having his pic taken, miss him dearly. This is our current pup, Katie. Rescued her from the shelter. She had surgery at the shelter, so the day after we got her, took her to our Vet. Lucky we did, as she had a bad infection that would have killed her in a matter of days. Shepard mix she is now about 5 years old.
  23. I don't mind fishing in a Light rain, even with a breez, but during a moderate to heavy rain, I'm stayin home. I played a round of golf once in a steady downpour, with 10 mph winds, Never again.
  24. Ditto, except I seldom have a need to go over 1/4 oz, due to the depths of the water I fish. Also, haven't been doin it for 50 years..........yet..lol
