  1. I forgot to add, that at El D, in one day fishing all of the lakes there, I caught 7 bass, biggest being a tick over 6 lbs. Also on the very first lake, I caught 3 3 1/2 lb'rs within 3 feet of the shore, one right after another. Yeah, you can do a lot of walking there, but not nearly as much as at Legg lake..haha
  2. So on my 2003 2500 HD, I have 183 K on the clock, and still have the original brakes, front and rear. It's just to bad a bunch of the other parts didn't last that long.
  3. A few years ago, at a city park lake, there was a lady fishing during the trout plant, she was using salmon eggs. After about 10 mins, a 6 lb bass took her bait, and she landed the bass, how she kept hooked on that dinky treble hook is mind boggling. And yes, she released the bass, which I was happy to see.
  4. Use to fish El D about 3 times a week, a few years ago, I went about 4 months ago, and was let down due to the cattails being over grown on the ranger lake, you can't even fish the east side of it now, and the west side has limited spots compared to a few years ago. Anyway, yes, very hard to catch bass there now, unlike it was back then, although the fishing was tough, we figured out ways to catch em. The bass you see in my avatar was caught on the east side of the ranger lake, about 8' off the shore line. When I went the last time, I got skunked. Keep in mind all the city park ponds/lakes have Major pressure, so what you might want to try is rig up a split shot, with a 4" roboworm, I had good luck with the Hologram Shad and cast it out almost parallel to the shore line, no matter which lake your fishing, I think that's gonna be your best bet. I've fished Every city park in so. cali even the ones in the O.C. they are all tough. The only way to get better at it is to fish more, i.e. time on the water. By the way, I never went on weekends. Good luck, and welcome to B.R.
  5. Oh, I remember that song like it was yesterday...
  6. GM math isn't any better, I can assure you of that.
  7. Are you weightless, or are you adding some type of weight ? If weightless, why would you use a baitcaster ? In all the years fishing flukes, I've never even thought of using a swivel or anything. I throw flukes on a spinning rig, unless I'm using a scrounger head.
  8. Yeah, there was a very good thread re: this very thing. Pouring and thing down a bass's throat is not good.
  9. I use to relish warm/hot days. Nowadays I feel so tired, and out of energy, temp todays is 89 * F. Funny cuz it's been unusually cool for the last few months.
  10. Great lookin rig, enjoy it. Oh yeah, and HAPPY Birthday to ya.
  11. Great looking pup.
  12. Well, my wife has gone through the radiation treatment. Now the Doc's are exploring the options on how best to treat her. She saw a Spinal surgeon, and 3 other specialist's, so now we are waiting on their decision. Dee, is so tried that she sleeps a lot, which I hope is a good thing. She is eating o.k. and does try to do some simple and easy chores around the house. Not gonna lie, this has been Very stressful for both of us. Once again Thanks to all of you guys that have sent prayers and well wishes.
  13. Got 60.00 worth of diesel tonight @ $ 6.29 per gal. Netted me a whopping 9 1/2 gals.. I'd sure like to see diesel drop down to around the $ 5.00 mark.
  14. Geez, and I thought a 20 to 30 cent difference was bad, which it is around here.
  15. For the countless times I've been deep sea fishing, never have been sick at sea.
  16. Old pic of my 2003 2500 HD. Has newer black spoke rims, and some motor goodies.
  17. Mine is a 2003 Chevy 2500 HD Duramax with 184k on the clock. Lots of mods have been done. I'll drive till it dies, or can no longer drive.
  18. Done, maybe this time is my lucky charm..
  19. Nada, I have enough tackle to last for at least a couple of years..
  20. Yeah, the if you can see the fish, they can see you. Eliminate this, stay as far as you can from where the fish are, i.e. make long cast's, sometimes the bass will hit as it enters the water, other times I've let it sink to the bottom, the either slow roll it, or do some little hop's off the bottom. Heck I had a 6+ lb bass breach the surface, about almost 2 feet in the air trying to eat my 1/2 oz double willow spinnerbait. I can say that over the many years fishing, I've 100's of bass on spinnerbaits, in all kinds of conditions, and from early morning up until dusk. I would recommend that you keep at it until you find a way to get em to bite, by varying your presentation.
  21. Just to add, I'm 74, and have scoliosis and arthritis in my back. Takes me about an hour when I get up, just to able to stand straight. I've gone through a Ton of pain, but I stretch, and have the attitude that I'm either going fishing, or go to the golf course. Remember, a body at rest, stays at rest, a body in motion stays in motion. And yes, I can still out drive a bunch of guys 1/2 my age on the golf course..
  22. Use to listen to the Yardbirds a ton. Great band.
  23. If you fish open or sparsely covered water a mh/f rod, around 7' will work fine. If your waters have dense cover then H/XF would be better, and I would favor a slightly longer rod. I happen to use a 7'4" H/F.
  24. Big bass also take up the best spots. I'd look for a dock that sticks out further than the rest, or that has cover close by.
