  2. well i went to basspro today and saw the trutungsten weights but not the beads ... while looking at the weights i realized i can not afford them. So i got 1/2 oz brass carolina weights with number 6 swivells and red glass beads. do you think this will work?
  3. I have never used a spinnerbait or crankbait... All i know is worms and jigs ... right now i have that set up and technique down... I am ready to learn a new method and wonder which should be my next step: spinnerbait or crankbait... and please say what is ur favorite spinner or crank depending on what u think should be my next move
  4. after reading the carolina rig topic in the important topic sections i have a few questions... where can you get brass egg weights? cant seem to find them ... also what size bead do you use and glass or plastic... have found WAY more glass than i have plastic so just wondering
  5. what is the college discount and how do you get it?
  6. which one for jig/worm rod ... medium heavy or heavy ... its going to be a powell max casting extra fast just cant decide heavy or medium heavy
  7. has anyone used this before? i have never used an in-line spinner so any advice of when and how to use it would be great too
  8. This reel is going to be for texas rigs which i generally use 3/16 or 1/4 bullet weights and for 3/8 or 1/2 jigs... with that said should i go with revo sx or sxt ... i am trying to stay away from s because they dont have a highspeed... i have been using a walmart abu ambassaduer round wheel and have no problems with it and it was a cheapo so i have a feeling either one will be good just lookin for a couple opinions
  9. thanks for the input ... i am leaning towards the powell and its nice to here someone say the same thing i was thinking.
  10. I was dead set on getting a powell max casting rod to use for jigs. BUT today i started looking at rods at bass pro again and found some nice looking split grip rods and most are a good bit cheaper with a couple a little more... anyone have these rods so you can tell me what you think: Berkley Lightning Rod Shock - $55 St.Croix Mojo Bass - $90 Quantam Energy Pt -$100 Powell Max Casting - $140 Kistler Magnesium TS - $160 St.Croix LTB -$230+
  11. i have been looking at these rods and read a test by taclewarehouse on them. They look nice and i love the split grips on them. Does anyone have any experience with them because i could afford to get a few of these.
  12. I have a revo sx i want to use for a worm/jig setup... i want to stick with the same rod just different action n power for other setups because i read you need to stay with the same one for being used it the feel... i dont know whether the carrot stix, falcon, avid series, or legend tournament bass rods... I love the way the split grip looks on carrot stix, some falcons, and legend tournament bass. Just want the best i can get under 250.

  17. I have been watching videos and reading articles about jigs. So i went to bass pro and looked at the selection. Wow. I though i knew exactly what i needed but i was wrong. so many to choose so here is what i am thinking. What do yall think: Booyah Boo Jig - 1/2 oz - blue/black - Yum chunk trailer not sure if that is the right weight tho... any opinions
  18. Is there any advantage besides just being easier on the hand due to size and weight of low profile reels over the round reels.
  19. While fishing this weekend with my abu garcia round reel i started wondering why i am so partial to abu garcia(even more so towards round reels) ... does anyone know any advantages of fishing with round reels... all i fish is freshwater ponds and lakes ... also is there anything so special about abu garcia to seperate them from say shimano
  20. wouldnt braided line be to visible and float to much for a t-rig... i agree to use braid for jigs but not sure bout t-rig
  21. i went and played around a bit with the avid and legend tournament bass rods today... Is it worth the about 50 dollars more for the ltb rods ... they look and feel nice in the store but just want to make sure before i buy one and decide it wasnt worth the extra bit... also is *** a good site to order rods from ... i just worry they will get messed up in shipping
  22. ok so i think the rods i will be able to afford will be the avid series... but for 20 dollars cheaper i can get the orginal carrot stix casting rods... which would you think would be the best... also when i said a worm, jig, and cranking rod i was meaning three seperate rods rather than universal... last note is that i plan to use a round abu garcia reels ... that is what i am use to and love them... someone made a comment that it was kinda not right to put that type of reel on a rod such as carrot stix... can anyone tell me why
  23. i just got home from bass pro empty handed because i just cant decide which rod to get. I want to get St.Croix but not sure between the avid, mojo, premier,or legend series. Yes i know thats pretty much every series but im just clueless I want a worm rod,jig rod, and cranking rod
  24. now why would you use a high speed ratio for a jig?? i dont understand that part.
  25. from reading some of the articles and topics on here this is what i understand... please correct if wrong ... just trying to figure it out the best i can worm/jig/topwater/spinner - around 6.3:1 crankbaits - 5.3:1 not real sure about highspeed of like 7.1:1 or low speed in the 4's but havent really even seen any bc's in 4's
