  2. I have the Humminbird 565 and it is a very nice mid-range unit.
  3. St. Croix LEC70MHF. It has the ability to cast a variety of jig weights well, and has plenty of power.
  4. Research the body of water. Know your weather.
  5. Ledgebuster. Don't forget about the lift-drop special single colorado, too.
  6. Hello, I am contemplating going to look at a 2000 Fisher Marsh Hawk 180. Unfortunately, information is sparse on this model. I've tried to do some research but I cannot dig up much... It doesn't appear that this particular model is available anymore. The vessel has a 75 hp Merc 2-stroke and looks to be in good shape; however the photos I have are covered. I cannot find any details on the layout of the boat, etc...I am also wondering if this year/model was fully welded and how the decking looks (wood-free?). I have heard they have a reputation for good build and are apparently part of the Tracker group now. If anyone owns a Fisher and has any comments, they would be appreciated. The exterior photos reveal what looks like a much steeper "V" than I've noticed on many other aluminum bass rigs. I am also curious about the livewell setup/capacity. Thanks for any opinions - time to upgrade.
  7. Roadrunners have always been good to me, yet my largest crappie have always come on crankbaits.

  9. Possible submerged roadbed between Baypoint Beach Dr. loop and the Southdale picnic area?
  10. Everybody gets bass thumb. It's usually a good sign since the fish must be biting. I show it off like a prizefighter shows off a cauliflower. Stop lipping them or maybe try NuSkin. Cornhuskers lotion works good for bass thumb.
  11. I have the Viento and think it is a solid reel. However, I stopped using the Twitchin' Bar within about a week. Retrieve and rod is where the action is. Literally.
  12. I'm an avid bowhunter, but cannot afford a $600 + bow. My Parker has kept the freezer full and got me into P&Y, albeit just once. If I were to spend that $$ it would be Mathews or Hoyt. Period. Haven't seen any of the new BowTech models or AR's.
  13. Zoom Superfluke Jr. White Pearl or Chartreuse Pearl.
  14. RC's only $12 - darnitt I wanted cheaper. I just wish the Stacy King jerkbaits had been typical LC quality - I bought a bunch a couple years ago only to find out I had to reweight them to get them to suspend like a Pointer...
  15. I wasted some $$ on Vanish earlier in the decade.
  16. I love St. Croix' ML power spinning rods! They're perfect for a "crossover" rod when I want to handle finesse bass baits, small cranks/jerks, and river smallies - as well as other species like marbleyes, crappie, trout... I only have one right now, a PS70MLF, but I am looking into picking up a new AVS63MLXF within the next week or so...That particular rod is hard to find, but I think it will fit the bill perfectly for me - unless I convince myself to get a SR782 IMX.

  18. Nice setup - I have the exact same rod with an older Curado 200 5:1. You will love the combo. Best all-around cranking rod I've found. And so light... As to your inquiry, I cannot say how it would be impacted. I usually only use heavier line when shallow cranking heavier cover, so I use a different rod/reel for that. My line of choice for the crankin carrot is either 12-lb. Big Game or 12-lb. Berkley 100% FC. There's so many factors besides just line diameter and you don't really have a baseline to compare it to. Cast length, water temperature, etc...not withstanding - I'd agree with maybe a couple feet shallower than, say 10-lb. mono (which seems to be the baseline most folks compare to)... Copolymer density could yield some advantage over comparable mono, so it may not be just cross-section/diameter that is a determinant. Somebody will have some equation or calculation for you soon, I'm sure.
  19. Cabela's First Flight Breathable Waders.
  20. The highest grade Shimano I have is a Clarus, so I cannot provide comparison for the Crucial. However, I own many St. Croix and the Avid is truly wonderful. It is a very sensitive and high quality stick.
  21. I love Super Hogs. Particularly June Bug.
