  1. as a major worm/lizard t rig fisherman i have noticed that if you keep your rod at a 10,11, or even 12 o clock position after your bait has hit the ground really helps with the sensativity. the line keeps good contact with the rod an in return you get more feeling out of your lure.. detecting bite on the initial fall is still somewhat hard for me at times.
  2. crawdads are like the mid south indians....they build mounds. i am sure they do i jsut have not seen many.. i see more "sunken" holes with tons of them in there than mounds.. ill look closer.
  3. my choice would be opposite on blue bird clear days in lightly stained to stained water. in that i would choose a tight wobble with no rattles.. go small in the jelly dept. perhaps finesses fishing is where i am getting at. but this all depends on how aggresive the fish are biting and wind speed.
  4. when it comes to baitcasters i will agree with him 10000%.. spin reels seem to be more forgiving. just my experience. quality in baitcasters is a must.
  5. i would have to agree. i bought one last year and now its broken. the drag just quit on me. i was heart broken. every piece of shimano equipment i have ever owned has held up great and still works great except for that one. i hate i threw away the reciept.. got it from gander mtn... did i mention i was heartbroken?? :'(
  6. whats funny is that they both could be made in the same factory over seas (just like a lot of our fishing rods).. just sayin'
  7. thats the only shakespeare product i know that has quality.. i have several of those rods for ultra lights, catfish and some saltwater fishing.. for the $$ they are rock solid tough. makes for great catfishing rods
  8. no, red is a marketing gimmick imo... actually i catch less with red hooks.
  9. Pop R's and jitterbugs handsdown.
  10. or a Pop R.. Pop R's are my top water choice 90% of the time if the fish are not too aggressive. bass colored pop R's have caught me more fish than i dare to even guess. its a top 5 lure for me.
  11. c-rigging a fluke and catch blues or other catfish. crank bait fishing and catching decent sized crappie along deep ledges and rock walls along the bank (water depth from 5-30ft) my cousin was C rigging last year with me in his john boat type boat and he caught a 28lb carp. it dragged us around that cove for a good 10 mins before it wore out.. we netted it and took pics. fun time.. we were hoping for a huge catfish.
  12. excellent info man..excellent. we do not have much weeds in my local lakes however our 4acre pond is loaded iwth it.. i may practice in that.. normally i go weightless and fish the outskirts and weedlines either close to the line or further out (pends on how agressive the fish are).. seems like high noon in bright light the fish are further in the weed trying to escape the sun.
  13. exactly... the 7.5lber and the 9.35lber i caught earlier this spring was just like that. i almost though i had just hit something small or perhaps went through really light brush but no it was large bass. something told me instantly it wasnt right and to jerk. i am glad i did.. both were on a spinner bait. one on a road bed (7.5) and one under a large oak that had fallen during the winter (9.35)
  14. 3/8 oz Shak-E2. The new Pro Series offers a screw-lock bait keeper if that is a feature you prefer. http://www.megastrike.com/ 8-) i have used the pro model and the regular model. i like the pro better but i still have an issue with the screw gouging out the center of my bait and i have to change the bait far far more often that lets say texas rig.. is this the norm?? i cant stand the regular model. the screw part doesnt hold the bait worth a poo, imo... perhaps i am doing this all wrong
  15. my favorite color as well... when the water is clearer and not biting the junebug i put on a watermelon red or watermelon... sometimes cotton candy or cotton candy red.. all good colors
