  1. I also use braid with a flouro. leader. Really helps with manageability. Whichever you use, I would highly recommend spraying with KVD Line & Lure. It was made specifically for flouro. and braid and will definitely help with manageability issues.
  2. As previously noted, KVD L&L will make a noticeable difference in any type of line you use it on, although it was specifically developed for flourocarbon and braid. Unlike other products which are petroleum based and will only coat the line, L&L bonds to the line and is only removed through friction. It will also not harm your reels. Also, be sure to use it on spinning reels. It really helps with the coiling, etc., you get with spinning reels.
  3. You might want to take a look at the Lock-n-Haul advanced transom savers. I have been using one on my 250 ProXS for a year and a half and it works great. It is the only 4-point inline load motor stow available. It completely stops all movement of the motor which prevents stress on the transom. Since it is not attached to the trailer, road shock is not transferred to the motor or transom.
  4. L&L will bond to , not just coat, whatever type of line it is used on. It was developed specifically for the problems associated with flourocarbon and braid, although it will help with the manageability of many other types of line. It's very good in helping with the problems of using any type of line on spinning reels.
  5. Line and Lure is a water based polymer that bonds to your line as stated previously. Most other products are petroleum based and only coat the line. If you use them on your line and put the line in the water, you can see a "slick" on the water from the coating coming off. Not only does L&L bond to the line, it will not harm your reels or the environment. It is very high in UV protection and because it bonds to the line, the polymer coating wears before your line does, which increases the longevity of your line.
  6. Guys, you might also keep in mind that Abu is coming out with the new Verdict rod soon. As a matter of fact, I think BPS has them on-line. They should be lighter in weight and have an adjustable handle. I think they sell for $130. I'm looking forward to seeing them.
  7. I throw a Rig probably 80% of the time and have done so for years. I have absolutely no concerns about knots failing. As already stated, the main thing to remember is to keep a close check on your leader and main line above the swivel for frays. I use a palomar knot for all connections and never have any knot related failures.
  8. I use a combination of Seafoam, Marine Stabil and Quickleen in every tank as recommended on another forum. 1 oz. to 6 gal. Seafoam and Quickleen, 1 oz. to 10 gal. Stabil. My original plugs are close to 3 yrs. old and still perfect. 250ProXS
  9. Althought they are pricey, in my opinion, the Mustang HIT is the only way to go for the reasons already stated. I have been wearing one for around 5 years. It actually saved my life when I was thrown out of my boat in 2008 due to a steering malfunction.
  10. I also use 17# XPS flouro. I would highly recommend applying KVD Line&Lure between trips. It will keep it very manageable and extend it's longevity.
  11. Line and Lure is a water based polymer and will actually bond to the line. Reel Magic is petroleum based and I don't know about the Ardent. Another good thing abouit L&L is it won't affect your reels and will actually prevent corrosion on them.
  12. I have to agree. The reason I'm here today to write this is because of my Mustang. Two years ago, I was thrown out of my boat when a hydraulic steering hose came off and I lost my steering. Even though I was only breaking in a new motor that day, I was wearing my vest and kill switch as is my habit. It saved my life.
  13. Nitro 882, how much do you want for the alarm system?
  14. The Mustang HIT models will only activate if submersed 4 inches under the water. I have been wearing one for about 5 years in all weather conditions and it absolutely will not go off. I just wore it in a driving rain all day Sunday.
  15. I use braid with a flourocarbon leader for finesse fishing on spinning gear. With braid, you don't have the memory problems, line twist, etc. The flouro. leader gives you the invisible link to your bait. I attach them with a blood knot. I don't use any particular leader length, haven't seen where it makes a difference. I'm using 10-14# Crystal braid with a 8# flouro. leader. Put some KVD Line & Lure on the night before and I think you'll be pleased.
