  1. Thanks, jt236. I registered, may be a good site. I know about the old age thing- my walker gets int he way at the boat ramp. D
  2. jt236- EPFR.COM is a financial trading website. Are you sure of the spelling? Douginator
  3. Looking for info from anyone who has gone upriver from the Black Rock ramp in Phoenixville, PA. Especially looking for info once you get to the Cromby plant and above. I just bought a 15 ft tin boat with a 40 hp jet and am aching to try the river. Thanks! Douginator
  4. GL is kinda tough, if you're going for bass. Water was cold and the weather was windy when we went Sat. I would recommend paying the $20 and renting one of the jon boats- you get it for 5 hours. I was amazed at some of the grass growth along the nothern shore, tho. Didn't catch a thing, but my kid had a ball- got to try out the new lures Santa brought him for Christmas. Suggestion- if you rent a boat, get there as early as possible. A returned boat will have a dead battery, which is all you'll get in the afternoon if you go on a weekend. Never been to Ft. Mifflin Douginator
  5. Hey Lucky Craft Man, Looking for almost the same thing (although I don't need the smaller motor). i was in Cabelas (Dundee, MI) and talked to one of the salesman. I looked at the 16 ft CS Alumacraft- fully decked out around $13k. I'm NOt going for a new boat (didn't tell him that), just wanted something that will ride Lake Erie on the calmer days, as well as the Sandusky Bay fishing. That limited me to an aluminum, as I anticipated fishing among rocks. Used should be under $10k, with trolling motor and basic electronis. Would fit your criteria. The Cleveland Boat Show is soon, isn't it? Not too far away from you. You might try there, at least get an idea of what you want. Doug
  6. I will be looking for a new boat for mostly bass fishing. What regional webistes are there for North/Central OH? I appreciate any help. Doug
  7. Nick- It's the gunwhale, the transom is alum. And I thought about the recycling part, it may be worth it to recylce and use teh $ for another boat. Thanks Thanks to all that replied, too. Doug
  8. All, I am faced with a conundrum. I have an aluminum boat that I received for free. The metal part itself is not in bad shape, just needs some cleaning. The problem is the wooden gunwale. It's very, very rotten. I could replace it with wood, but I was thinking of making the whole think aluminum. A wise decision, as the aluminum would not rot. I have 2 issues- 1) I can't find anyone in my area to do aluminum work on such a small scale; 2) is it even worth it? The boat is 13 ft long, unknown make (it, and the homemade trailer, is older than me i.e pre-1968). I have talked with others who have worked in aluminum and they said the cost of the materials and the equipment needed (probably have to rent) to bend the aluminum may be cost prohibitive. For a few $ more, it may be better to buy a new or slightly used one and trash the old one. Any advice is welcome. Thanks. Doug
  9. One thing that may need to be considered- is it legal? If you own your own pond/impoundment, no problem. But if it's public water you may need to get permission from Big Brother. Just a thought...
