I have about one more week to kill some time and over the years I've fished almost every pond listed on the KS Wildlife site in the Wichita area. So far this year, it seems like a lot of the public ponds are lacking a decent bass population. I'm looking for a change of scenery and trying to find somewhere that is bank fishing friendly. Any of the local guys have any suggestions?

Yeah there's quite a few small ones in there. I just happened to randomly go there one day and in my opinion it's probably one of the best in town public fishing ponds. I've heard the rumors of big ones being in there although I don't believe that.

I've had my best luck on a few private ponds but been fishing pretty much every public place around town for a challenge. Watson and Emery are probably the top two. I haven't had much luck at Sedgwick County Park. Only been catching quantity instead of quality at these places though. I need to get my boat out and hit Butler or McPherson. What about you?

My dad introduced me to bass fishing at a young age and I've been hooked on it since. I'm usually fishing in the spring, summer and fall whenever I have free time. I got some angled pliers from Harbor Freight for like 6 bucks. I got to try them out the other day when a largemouth swallowed the hook and I must say I never got a hook out so fast. I just ran the pliers up through the gills and turned it upside down so I was on the hook, wiggled it for a second then slighty twisted it and it came right out. I'd probably say hands down its the best fishing investment.
