I go to Lake Amistad alot. As long as you have a Mexican Fishing license the Mexican game wardens will leave you alone. But there is so much water that you don't have to fish the Mexican side. Lake Amistad is not like Lake Falcon. We do not have alot of the drug cartels here. There are some but I haven't heard of any.
The fishing is excellant top water, deep cranking, soft plastics, caroline rigs, etc. They all work there is grass growing in spotsbut because the lake is only 4 foot low now the water is so clearthat it takes awhile for thegrass to grow. Look for grass in deep water that comes up into shallower water but not real deep or shallow. Morning and late afternoon or evenings are the best.
I would not fish any other lake if I didn't have to.
