  1. Well looks like you guys done good with the crappie and white bass Well,it's still better to be on the water looking for fish than at home cleaning a boat and thinking about it. it's going to be a long winter and we haven't even gotten snow yet.
  2. Mark, As I was applying it to the lower unit just below the cowl cover, I did get some on the black cowling. It did not do any damage to it. However I did not do the whole cowling cover, as there are Mercury decals on the cover, and I don't know if it would do anything to those, so I was careful not to get anything on that.
  3. Slonezp and Nice_Bass, At least you guys got on the water. I hear its supposed to be in the mid 50's this weekend. I guess I should have waited in winterizing my boat. Slonezp, I don't fish "The Chain", so can you tell me your secret spot where you got your fish this weekend? There is a lake by my house about 50 acres, that I start shore fishing in fall. Will be there this weekend and let you guys know how I do. I usually fish it, until the water starts to get skim ice. Last year Thanksgiving Day, I fished for about 4 hours and got a fat 16" bass.
  4. MarkH024 This is so easy it's not even funny. If you are going to use it around the carpet on your deck be careful. The reason I'm saying this is, I don't know what this would do to your carpeting. I did my hull, and although my hull sits on carpeted bunks, if they would discolor, it wouldn't matter to me. Now when I put the boat away 4 hours later yesterday, I didn't see any discoloration on my carpeted bunks. Just a reminder and a precaution for you.
  5. Well, Thank You, it worked like a charm. BTW how did you do fishing????
  6. Well, I just cleaned my boat today, and found out that I didn't have any Lime-Away, and then I remembered someone talking about toilet bowl cleaner. So my wife had some toilet bowl cleaner called "The Works". My outboard is black and so is my hull. So I wet my outboard with a hose, put some of the cleaner on a wet sponge, and did a small spot on the outboard. Washed it down, dried it and wow it looked just like it did when I bought it. I then did the entire motor, my entire black hull, and it looks beautiful. You can easily see spots you missed as soon as you wipe it dry. Re-apply in that area, rinse, wipe and finished. Man for 6 years I would get under the hull and painstakingly, try to get the white grime off of my boat. Somebody shoot me for not asking sooner, Ugh. Anyway, it took all of about 30 minutes to do the entire outboard and my entire hull. Man I feel like I won the lottery. Anyway, I'm sure other toilet bowl cleaners would work as well, as I know Lime-Away does also, because I just spoke to one of my club members and he uses it. So I thought I'd post this as another product that works really well. Note: Wear eye protection and some rubber gloves, as the toilet bowl cleaner is acidic. Thanks to everyone for all their input.
  7. Hey guys thanks for all the info.
  8. I sure do. Now to answer the OP's question. I have a torque wrench also, and I don't use it on the prop. I tighten it up good, and then line up the start washer and bend two tabs. Now if I were working on something critical like an engine bolt pattern than I would definitely use a torque wrench. However, I'm not saying that the way I do it is right. Do what makes you feel at peace.
  9. Now that is funny. You know what? I can't wait until I meet you on our BR mini fishing expo next year. I need to be in your boat. I'll spend more time laughing and having a good time than fishing. Probably wouldn't catch any fish, but the company would be great.
  10. That looks pretty cool. Let me know how you do with that.
  11. Thanks for the info. Couple of other somewhat related questions. I have always been waxing my fiberglass with Nu- Finish. I know there are other products, is Nu-Finish not good to use on fiberglass? Is Mothers Marine spray better? Also what is BBS? Thanks for the explanation.
  12. Thanks for the info guys.
  13. Do I use it full strength? If so, when I apply it on do I let it sit and then I rinse it off with clean water? Thanks.
  14. What do you guys use to clean off the white residue on your fiberglass hulls and on the lower unit of your outboards? I've tried very low abrasive rubbing compound, but that is tedious, and then I have to re-wax it. Is there an easy 1-2-3 way of doing this. Thanx for any help.
  15. Mark, No problem, somehow if we all think about it we'll come up with an answer for you. BTW Very nice looking boat
  16. Hey Mark, If you need something custom made, I am a sheetmetal design engineer. You could have something made as an extension out of aluminum, bolt or rivet it in and then either paint it or cover it with carpet. Just a thought. If you need any help you have my e-mail. We can talk about what your ideas are and what would work. E-mail me a pic of the inside you want to cut and maybe I can come up with something for you. We can also do brushed stainless steel if you don't want paint or carpeting
  17. I do it all the time .JM 6'6 MH Signature rod, Revo Supreme Gen 1 Baitcaster, 10 pound Yo-Zuri mono. 1/8 oz fully skirted jig with a chunk trailer. I religiously fish light jigs .They are my go to baits 90% of the time.
  18. That is very interesting, as I have never heard of anyone using latex paint. I have heard of guys using lacquer or enamel to brush it on but never latex. Isn't a pint of latex paint expensive?
  19. I have not found a good way to do this. They in reality don't melt, just get all deformed. You get a much better paint job, if you powder paint your jigs first, bake them and then glue in your weedguards in. If your jigs have eyes, I use epoxy to glue in the weedguard and then I clearcoat the entire jig to keep the eyes from falling off. If your jigs don't have eyes, I use Loc-Tite Gel super glue. This is the way I do it. There are many ways to do this. JMO
  20. Welding is always 100% stronger than any rivet, I would get it welded. If the guy knows how to weld aluminum, he can lay down a really nice bead.
  21. Use to do that when I was younger (drink that is on the ice) with my friends while ice fishing. Now with the new laws and all, can't see myself with a DUI, and not being able to fish in my boat, or relying on someone to drive me everywhere. That would suck big time.
  22. I did the same with my boat this weekend. All washed up,cleaned and winterized. All I have to do is to give it a good wax job then take out the batteries. I have another foot pedal I'm buying from a guy and I need to try it out to make sure it works. Can't wait till Spring.
  23. Tyler, There is a member on here by the name of Smalljaw. He will see this and give you all the info you need. He has tied some hair jigs for me and others and he does a phenomenal job. I have been dabbling in it, but i don't know enough to give you all the correct answers. Just hang on and he will reply. Good luck.
  24. I thread them on as well.
  25. I personally would get a Lee IV bottom pour pot. They are about the most versatile. As far as prices go depends if you want to buy new or used. On new molds I buy 99% of my molds from Zeiner's in Wichita, Kansas. The best prices I have found on majority of all the Do-It molds out there. Excellent people to deal with and if they don't have it they will get it for you. Make sure you call and speak with Jim Zeiner. As far as which molds to buy, start out with the one you would fish the most, see if you like pouring and painting and then slowly expand. Pouring jigs is not for everyone, as it can be frustrating. I'm sure you will get a lot of help here.
