  1. I broke one of the middle guides off my rod and was wondering if this will affect the rods performance. The rod has 10 guides and i broke the 6th one off which is a little ways pass the midpoint. I only use the rod for short casts or skipping and pitching docks.
  2. My culling clips recently fell apart during a tournament last weekend. Just wondering what are some of the higher quality clips available.
  3. I fish alot of really clear lakes around the house and get a ton of 4-5 lb fish cruising slowly behind the baits but never eat them. I thought that maybe if i added eyes to them, like the zoom super fluke, that these followers might turn into potential tournament winning fish. Well, the other day i tried using expoxy to glue the eyes on but it seemed like the expoxy would not bind with the plastic. I also tried super glue but that didn't work either. What kind of glue should i be using? Something specifcally made for soft plastics like mend-it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  4. I have been trying to use 20lb power pro and a flourocarbon leader on my shakey head setup. I found a good knot to tie the fouro to the braid that will not break. The problem is my knot to my shakey head is breaking on every hook set. I love seagar invisx so i've been trying 10lb as my leader material. I've tried a palomar knot, clintch knot and a knot Shaw Grigsby said is the best fouro knot ever. My drag is loose as well so i don't know what the problem is. So... two qustions: What knot do you have the best luck with and should i try a different leader matarial?

  6. Anyone used this powder paint from fishingskirts.com. They have some awesome looking designs, especially the illusion series.
  7. The trolling motor batteries i was using have quit holding their charge. Ive heard a lot of hype about optimas but have also heard that all they are is hype. In your opinion, which batter have you had the most success with.
  8. I am wondering if i would be better suited for the 7.6 mh or the 7.7 medium. The lakes i fish do not have any kind of vegetation. The rod will mainly be used for pitching docks, laydowns and chunck rock banks. I always use 15 to 20lb flouro cause the lakes are clear as well. So I dont want a "broom stick", just something with enough power to pull 4-6 pounders out of cover and not snap 15-20 lb flouro on hook sets.
  9. I own both the light and tough and the falcon lowrider. Both rods have been outstanding in my opinion. In the market for another rod though and wanted to know what yall thought?
  10. I fish the flw collegiate circuit and we have a tournament during the last week of February. I am from south carolina and have never been to the lake before. There is no grass lakes around here either so i am unfamiliar with fising hydrilla and millfoil. From past tournaments i have come to the conclusion that most people throw rattle baits in the grass. Red crawfish type patterns seem to do good. My questions are: What are some other productive techniques, what depth to look for, and some names of some productive creeks. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.
  11. I've been making my own football and mop style jigs for about two years now but i want to start making finesse jigs as well. A bunch of the finesse jigs i see flare out, but when i wrap the skirt with wire and tighten it down really tight it just hangs straight down. Any tips?
  12. every time i pour a 1/8 or 1/16 ounce jig head the hook is lose inside the lead. The castings are complete but hook just kind of slides back and forth in the lead. Any advice?
  13. I seen these molds on the internet the other day and they look like an awesome flipping head. I like the recessed line tie and they look like they have a flat head so they'll stand up on bottom. If anyone uses these heads give me some feedback on em.
  14. Wow. I have caught numerous 20lb+ bags on the live pointer. You have to work it like a fluke. Just finesse it and make is swim and they'll light it up. Won more money with it than probably anyting.
  15. Any used this stuff. I always use seagar or trilene flourocarbon, but it is so expensive. I seen where the vicious is only like $12 or something. Just wandering if i should just keep paying $20 a spool for line.
  16. I got my molds the other week and they have been driving me crazy. At first i thought the molds were too cold so i heated them and it made no difference. Then i tried smoking them with a tea light candle and it worked. Now i am getting a few complete castings out every ten or so. Even after i smoke one it doesn't seem to make a difference. The heads are complete but the barb and collar are not casting. Any tips will be nice. Thanks.
  17. I have been reading that powder paint needs to baked to be cured. I am going to use a toaster oven for this so what tempuratue should i use and what time length?
  18. I am suppose to be getting my paints, molds, etc sometime this week. I know on a lot of store jigs the head will be two-toned. For example the majority of the head will be green-pumkin while the botom has a little orange in it. Can this be accomplished with powder paints. If so what is the process. Can you dip in one and then the other, or do you have to let one color dry, etc.
  19. I don't know where i got this jig, but i was wandering if you know what kind of head this is. I think it is an arkie style jig head but i'm not sure -I love the spring instead of a weed guard so i was wandering if you could mold the spring in the head or do you have to use the nail and epoxy it in later?
  20. Don't get the spot removers. I lose a ton of fish with these jig heads because the hook is small. I don't know if you know what "the perfect jig" head is but it has a flat bottom like a spot remover, but it also incoporates a football head design. They come in a little tube labled the perfect jig. They use bigger hooks than a spot remover and i have never lost a fish using em. As for worms i like a zoom trickworm. In highly pressured lakes though i like to throw a 6" fat roboworm straight tail and a 7" stratight tail worm in oxblood light red flake. You can't beat it.
  21. I have heard a lot of great things about the crucial dropshot rod, but haven't heard too many reviews on the cumara. I have a cumara trigger rod and love it so i figured the spinning rod would be awesome as well. I usually dropshot between 30-70ft so i figured the 7'2" med exfast would be a good choice. Which one has a better backbone and softer tip?
  22. I am thinking about getting the drop shot rod. I have tried a lot of rods and can't find one that suites me perfect. Some are stiff and others are not stiff enough. I currently use a Gloomis shakey head rod for my dropshotting but wish it had a little bit softer tip.
  23. I know what kind of molds and hooks i want, but i noticed some different ways to paint the heads. Is powder paint the best, or vinyl, etc. I noticed too for the powder paint, you have to bake them. Is this necessary. I would like to hand tie the jigs rather than use a skirt collar, so what do i need to do this? I also read that hard lead is harder to use than soft lead. Any opinions on this? Any tips or advice would be nice.
  24. From my personal experience you can't beat flourocarbon. You get more bites, it is very strong, and it rarely breaks. Last spring i was using 15lb 100% flourocarbon and caught 82 bass in one day, all of them were between2-4lbs. I only retied one time all day. Thats making a statement!!! I like both seagar and trilene 100% flouro. The only difference is seagar has a smaller diameter, which i think makes it a little better in really clear water. I would give the strength factor to trilene though.
  25. I got some free rods the other day, but all of em were shorter than what i usually throw. Most of the time i use at least a 6'10" rod because i never felt i could get the leverage i wanted out of a shorter rod. I think the rod is a med-exfast action.
