  1. WOW...!
  2. Anykind of crackle is going to be tough on a textured surface like that.. The cheap crackle from wally world work's great. Just brush it on thick and keep brushing (different direction's with the brush) until it's almost tacky.. You dont' want it totally dry and you dont' want pool's of it either. Then throw down a contrasting color (thick) on top of the crackle and hit it with a blowdryer. 90 percent of the time this will work out great. Every now and then it crackles alot on one side and a little on the other or doesnt crack at all.. Take's a little practice.... Good luck and killer lookin scales.. Cant' believe you carved all them..!
  3. Didn't see any rule's on this topic for figuring out your point's.. How's it work.. ?
  4. Just looked for this, where's it at...?
  5. Caught this hog (10lb's dead on) today in Orange lake here in central FL. I was using a elgrande sapo frog (bullfrog color). We figured out the fish were on the outside of mainlines of lilly's and caught quite a few fishing that way. This one I had cast over a clump of lilly's to a good edge of lilly's and WHAM she was on. She started jumping, I swear it was 2ft out of the water, then went straight into the island I had cast over! If it wasn't for 65lb spiderwire I wouldn't have this pic to show you guy's..
  6. Crazy looking color isn't it Marty? Guy's down here in Florida swear by that color on a DH though! I guess if your working it fast enough it might resemble a gill or something...
  7. Here's some new one's i painted up this week. Let me know what you think of them, please.... Old smithwick color... 'SPOTTED APE' and a bluegill.. Rayburn Red craw and Midnight Blue Craw (crackled).. Anyone ever use these mudbug's? They look pretty cool and you always find them in the oldtimer's tackleboxes, so their must be something to them... Gizzard Shad....

  16. I use several folkart and americana water based paints.. You buy one for a little over a buck and make 2 out of them. They're really thick so I will thin about 60% paint and 40% water. Just get you some spare bottles. Get them the consistance of skim milk and you shouldn't have a problem. They will gunk up on you over time so putting a piece of pantyhose or somekind of strainer over the lid will keep the gunk out of your airbrush.
  17. Killer Marty.. Great job bud...
  18. It's just plexi...
  19. I thought about that when I put them in. Reason I put them a little close together is usually when were's using wild shiner's 99.9% of the time they will eat the shiner head first. I didn't really want to put a hanger in the head section so I just brought the back one up a little. You might be totally right on that and I'll let you know how the hook up is as soon as I give it some wet time..!
  20. Here's something I've been working on and I believe I've finally got it right.! It's a Golden Shiner swimbait I carved out of balsa wood. Tricky part was adding enough weight to get this joker to sit just under the surface. Balsa float's very well so it took quite a bit of lead to get what I wanted. It sit's just under the surface. Actually about 1/2in of it's back is out of the water but that's exactly what I wanted. I still have to put several more coat's of clear on it but figured I'd post and see what you all thought of it....It's exactly 8in long from nose to tail..
  21. Thought I would play around with some wacked out color's on some gill's... What do you think of them. I slapped some crackle on their back's also.....
  22. Good lord Marc..! That is killer.. Great job bud...
  23. Green shiner and a bluegill. These joker's are killer.. Can't wait to get out and get them wet...
  24. For the last time, they all rock Marty...lol... Keep them coming...
  25. I loosen the needle nut and pull the needle out just a hair and it shoot's out fine. Just got to make sure and put some brush stroke's in it. Very cool but a pain in the butt! ... Been painting about 3 years boss..
