  1. She's got her Grandmothers nose - LOL. Congratulations - dogs are God's gift to humanity!
  2. The old crank telephones worked good too
  3. Maybe that's what was going on here http://www.ketv.com/news/local-news/Fisherman-reels-in-live-grenade/-/9674510/15957456/-/plafa5z/-/index.html?absolute=true
  4. The jig police will not fine you for throwing 'em around wood - one thing you do want to watch though is that the hook gap is not too open or they will definetly hang up more.
  5. Trailer hooks are like American Express - don't leave home without 'em. Trailer hooks on buzz baits can help with your hook-ups but they don't guarantee a catch everytime. If you get a good strike that doesn't hook up, have a throw back lure (Senko, Ring-Fry, etc.) to give 'em another chance.
  6. It has been a dozen years or so since I last used Pete Wenners - he was great everytime we went out with him. He was especially helpful to my (then) 6 year old son and my (then 70) year old father-in-law. He introduced me to drop-shotting before anyone in this area had even heard of it.
  7. Why do they have to stand up straight? Fish will gravitate to them because they are there, not how they look. Be sure to mark where you drop 'em and (if possible) which way they lay.
  8. Chatter baits creat lots more distubance in the water and will call fish from further away. They are great for fishing in the grass as the vibrations will clear your bait and keep it from getting so bogged down. One of my fishing buddies uses Ch Baits almost exclusiively and is regularly in the top 5 for club tournaments. One thing about them though, they are wood magnets - if you throw them nead wood or a brush pile you can pretty much kiss it good-bye. As for the retrieve - there are two that I have found to work - 1) a slow, steady retrieve will keep it just below the surface like a spinner bait; 2) the "pull and drop" - give it a pull, let it drop and reel up the slack (this seems to work best early in the year). They are not for deep water but they can be deadly in water out to about 6 -8 feet.
  9. First of all, you can fish 'em weightless - more so the regular size than the Baby RF's - These are my goto bait all year long - I try to use the least amount of weight I can get by with (depending on the wind/current). They work great in brush piles and in grassy shore areas. Don't work 'em too fast, but let the rings do their job.
  10. "BLUSH!!!" - no wonder I couldn't find it - LOL - Thanks guys
  11. Several weeks back I recall seeing a reference to an "allen head jig". I have looked around an can't find the post or any other mention of an "allen head jig" - seems like it was an option for swimming a jig but I don't know what it is. Any one who can help?
  12. Caught my PB on a green pumpkin Pit Boss earlier this year - also caught my last bass of the season last year on one that was black/brown (don't know what they call it). If you are going to use 'em on a jig, I would suggest a small one (no more than a 1/4 oz) - I typically use 'em T-rigged with a 1/4 to 3/8 oz bullet weight depending on the water depth and the wind.
  13. My partner in crime got an electric toaster oven for Father's day to use to bake his jigs aftern painting them (his wife got tired of his using the one in the kitchen). Our question is can we use this to heat up the jigs before dipping them in the powder pain? If so, how hot do they need to be? Thanks.
  14. Outside a small Macedonian village, close to the border between Greece and strife-torn Yugoslavia, a lone Catholic nun keeps a quiet watch over a silent convent. She is the last caretaker of a site of significant historic developments. The convent once served as a base for the army of Attila the Hun. In more ancient times, a Greek temple to Eros, the god of love, occupied the hilltop site. The Huns are believed to have first collected and then destroyed a large gathering of Greek legal writs at the site. It is believed that Attila wanted to study the Greek legal system and had the writs and other documents brought to the temple, but then destroyed them to preserve his power. When the Greek Church took over the site in the 15th Century and the convent was built. Church leaders ordered the pagan statue of Eros destroyed, so another ancient Greek treasure was lost. Today, there is only the lone sister, watching over the old Hun base. And that's how it ends: No Huns, no writs, no Eros, and nun left on base.
  15. Thanks everybody - I guess we'll just keep trying - that's kinda like fishing and what makes it fun. One thing though, cadman what do you mean by "flash off"? I'm not familiar with that term.
