What experiences have you had with the Shimano Company regarding the warranty replacement of a broken high-end rod? Also, in the event that you are responsible for the broken rod, does Shimano offer a reduced-price replacement program similar to Dobyns, St. Croix or G Loomis?
Love my Dobyns rods. I also invested in Champion Extremes (bottom baits) and Champions (moving baits) for a financial reason. Once my arsenal of rods was acquired I knew that the only changes (& associated costs) would be either covered under complete warranty or through their "no fault" replacement program, which means no more rod purchases for more than what you would pay for an entry-level rod. That said, over the past 2-3 years I have yet to replace one.
Thanks Todd. I just have the mapping software that came with the unit, which I am otherwise happy with. Any option other than spending the extra $140 or so in order to get accurate contours? Also, could you recommend a source for purchase. Are the maps regional, U.S./Canada, ?? And thanks again for the response. Nick
I have a basic question. While using the "fishing" chart on my Garmin on my home lake, I get clear contour lines. My question - I know the "full pool" level and have access to the "current pool" level, do I have to adjust the Garmin for the difference, or does it adjust the contours on the map automatically? If I have to do it manually, where is the setting located? Thanks in advance.
For basic cranking I have found the Lew's Speed Spool to be among the best. I will spend more when I need greater performance from a reel. Frankly, the basic Speed Spool, at around $100, meets my every need for a smooth, long casting, dependable drag reel.
Has anyone tried the newer Stren 100% Flourocarbon Flourescent line? I am not referring to the Stren Flourocast line available at most Walmarts. I am a "line watcher" and like to fish with flourescent line in general, and thought that this could be a possibility. I would be using it for weightless plastics, jigs and Texas-rigs with 12, 15 & 17lb line. Thanks.
Thanks for the response Wayne. I didn't think I was drifting off of the structure, but it is the only explanation. I will practice with it over known bottom structure.
I have a basic Lowrance sonar unit on my bow, with the transducer located on my trolling motor. The depth readings are helpful, but I would like to use it more productively to locate and "stay on" brush piles. When I encounter a brush pile on my screen (when it enters the area of the cone), the image appears on my graph and slowly moves across the graph and disappears. Why does the image on my screen do this, even when my boat is stationary and I am directly above the brush pile?
I am a multi-species fisherman from western Illinois who recently acquired a condo & slip on the Grand Glaize arm of LOZ. Will retire in a year and spend a good deal of time learning the GG arm. I would really like to make some contacts and talk some fishin with some anglers familiar with the area. Thanks in advance.
