  1. Welcome!
  2. Siebert Outdoors Zenith shakeyhead. As for what to throw, use your Imagination and go from there. If that doesn't help start with a Zoom trick worm or finesse worm.
  3. I usually buy what I like, fish them and see. I personally put little stock into color other than If I like what I see I buy it.There are others factors I care about more than color. To answer the OP's question, you would see a ton of color variations some considered standard others not very popular. I will finish this post with the following: Red Is a vastly underutilized color in this part of NC and that's just fine by me.
  4. It's a dreary, rainy, chilly day so It seemed like a great day to head to the local boat/tackle shop with the grandson. It's a given that a little time goes a long way with him so I make these visits somewhat short and try my best to look at things that he will like. That being said, had I bought everything he liked I would have spent $50,026.00. He seemed to love the Skeeter boat with some bells and whistles and a Spro BZ1 rat. While I admire his taste in boats and baits I do believe my wife would have had a coronary. lol Instead we walked out $23.00 lighter and he was happy. The one thing to always remember Is whatever the task, whether It be fishing, tackle shops, or anything you are passionate about they are little folks and for the most part have a very low attention threshold. Keep it fun for them and whether it's 10 minutes or an hour know when to leave. I'm hoping he remembers these times fondly but If not that's just fine.
  5. I'm right there with you AJ!
  6. I hope everyone that's reading this takes a moment to really contemplate these four words.
  7. It's no secret but I know few who use it. If I absolutely have to have a fish I will get a Siebert Outdoors 3/16 Zenith shakey head tipped with a Zoom 4'Dead Ringer and go to work.
  8. Welcome!
  9. Welcome!
  10. @rboat Give the body a thorough cleaning with hot water and Dawn dish washing detergent. After that dry thoroughly and be easy. One of the best cleaners and polishers I have found Is Meguiar's M83. https://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-Mirror-Action-Cleaner-Polish/dp/B0002SQYRI I must warn you though be gentle on painted baits because If the pint is In rough shape It might slough the paint off, but for the most part Is does a really good job. I have never tried It on metal but try it and see what happens. Good tip @Avalonjohn44 !

  16. Great, great, idea and result! Thanks for sharing @SPEEDBEAD. !
  17. Well said @ww2farmer ! As I have gotten older I have learned to appreciate many things while out on the water. The goal Is to catch fish and most days I reach that goal and a few days I don't. In the end I'm truly blessed to be able to do something I love to do and I refuse to take that for granted. I suppose , at least for me, It might be considered a recreational pursuit but It goes much deeper than recreation.
  18. I, like others, choose a crankbait with a particular application in mind. Shallow: Spro little Jon, big m squarebills, Rebel wee r, and a few others. mid-depth: Norman deep baby n, big m's, and Rebel deep wee r. Deep: * It's all relative....... Norman dd 14. I don't go much deeper than 14-15 feet.

  20. Mann's Augertail worms. Black.....It was my go to when Rebel quit making the ringworms. I use mostly Zoom plastics now and think all the time about throwing an Augertail. Bomber crankbaits. I have a ton of these baits and they have sat Idle for many years. They caught so many fish, It was unreal. Great thread!
