I am making an annual trip to Daufuskie Island with my family and am bringing my poles to try out a few of the ponds around the golf courses. Last year I had a lot of luck using a weightless Texas Rigged basic White worm. Anyone have any idea of patterns so far this summer or suggestions of what else to use so I don't travel all the way from Washington DC just to be skunked?

I am going on a golfing trip with my dad to Daufuskie Island outside of Hilton Head later this month and he also wanted to go fishing on some of the local lakes on the courses. What kind of fish should we be targeting in this area and what should i be bringing with me to catch a few with my old man? I have a Shimano spinning reel that I have usually used to go after smallies and such near DC and all the necessary lures to go along with that, but need to get a second rod and reel for my dad for fathers day too. Any advice will help. Thanks everyone

Where were you fishing on the potomac? I am ready to get back to the water and fish. Like you I fish from the bank but so far have not had any luck. I have only gone out once on the Potomac along with canal close to the dam, and once on Burke lake. Neither day was productive but good to get out there.

Right now i am limited to bank beater, but hoping to be investing in something to get me out into some deeper waters soon. I prefer SM but would not limit myself because of the fun behind catching LM too. I am actually right in the heart of the district, but have no problems braving our aweful traffic and driving to anyplace I need to, especially to get out of the city every now and then. Hope this can help you veterans give me some advice.

I am relatively new to the DC/ Virginia area and looking for places to keep me occupied during the winter months...anyone have any ideas and advice what hits this time of year?
